BioWare Still Unsure About Tali Reveal

My vote is to keep the helmet on.

Tali's personality (and a bit of her hips) are what make her so endearing to fans. The basis of pursuing a relationship with her is the concept that Shepard loves her for who she is, not what she looks like (and her hips).

Removing the helmet would completely dash that air of mystery, no matter how well designed or well received it was. There is so much speculation, fan art, and even jokes about what quarians may look like, and I would hate to see that disappear.

If BioWare is dead set on some sort of reveal, they can take a middleground by possibly showing another quarian unmasked (or partially unmasked, like if the helmet broke), while leaving tali a secret. Even then though, the wonder of the Quarians would disappear.

never understood the obsession with tali. besides the fact that you don't know what she looks like there really isn't anything special about her. if you remember the conversation on Illium between the quarian and the turian, humans are only interested in her because they don't know what she looks like, they don't actually care about who she is. besides quarian legs bend the wrong way :p

why not make it a tickable option at the start see or dont see? maybe even let the players choose from a few appearance options?.

I like the idea but I don't want the release date pushed back for something purely aesthetic. Sounds like it would take too long to implement.

I hope they don't. Not many videogames require even a hint of imagination.
*coughsplutterCall of Duty Black Opscoughcough*.
Lets try and preserve that tiny amount of it, shall we?

They could just show us what Quarians in general look like, without showing Tali's face. So then we would at least have an idea of what she is like.

Just show us a Quarian face Bioware. Any face will do. The only reason I romanced her in the first place was so I could see her face...(and because Miranda, and Jack are massive BIOTCHS. And I don't know how I feel about bumping...fingers...minds..or whatever with an Asari.)
This. As much as I love Tali, I don't particularly care what SHE looks like - I love her personality.

But I really want to know what Quarians look like. It doesn't make any sense that no one knows - the Quarians have all their historical records, so they should have photos of themselves on the homeworld. Also, it took time for the Quarians to get their immune issues, so the first couple of generations on the Migrant Fleet wouldn't have needed suits on the ships - so again, there should be photos and records.

And really, are transparent visors really that hard to make?

Anyway, my point is, I want to know what the race as a whole looks like.

I'd laugh so much if they used Anders' face model from Dragon Age II, just as an extra special treat for that cross section of fans who really hated his gay advances in DAII, yet chose to romance Tali.

They have to do it... I was pretty disappointed when I didn't get to see it in Mass Effect 2.

Ok, so I get that the Quarians have to have the sealed suits and everything, but why do their visors have to be opaque? Wouldn't it have been more practical to make them clear?
It's quite probable that light waves are harmful, perhaps in their home world the sun was really weak, but in other places their skin cannot handle the heat and intensity they produce.

Just throwing in speculation but it sounds like the obvious reason. Think sunglasses.

I remember once in Mass Effect 1, the light in the Citadel reflected off Tali's helmet in such a way that I thought I could see her eyes. It was difficult to explain to the other people in the room why I had just shouted "HOLY FUCKING ASS CRACKERS" at my computer.

On a marginally less stupid note, I think they should have her remove her helmet, only to reveal another, slightly smaller helmet.

Pretty sure there's some concept art of her unmasked somewhere but I can't find it.

Don't show her, nothing can ever look better then that helmet :p

No but seriously the element of mystery is great, if you show her you will only throw it away and gain nothing, yes we all want to know the magicians tricks, but if we do all our fascination will be gone in an instant.

On a second thought ... i hope they do this in typical Bioware fashion .. let the player chose whether they want to see her face or not .. after all ME is all about choices and consequences (not much of the later but i'm hoping everything we did in ME1 and ME2 will impact ME3 strongly)
That sounds a solid plan, two ways to see her face
*paragon: convince her to take the mask off.
*renegade: just rip that dam mask off.

result: tali dies from a infection...

so for the sake of Tali, please Bioware don't show her face. The mystery is what I like about her and hips and her personality.

But on the other: when we didn't see her face, but Shepard did it made me feel like i'm on date with ute girl and a friend comes by and start banging her in the other room. And then she ws talking to me afterwards like sh had sex with me.... I felt betrayed...

Still love her, regardless

They should make it look like they are going to do it then cover it at the last minute. That or have mordan invent a way for her to live outside the suit and show off her face.

...But the way I see it, its not their (the fans) character(s), its the developers character(s), and if they want to give Tali a face like an angel... or a Krogan's ass... than dammit, they should be allowed to do it.
The thing I got out of the article sparking this particular thread is that BioWare doesn't know what Tali looks like, and opinions in the office are just as divided as they are on the interwebs. There are people at BioWare lobbying for one Tali-face or another, and no conclusion is getting reached.
My opinion? We'll see Tali when we all agree what we want her to look like. Just don't hold your breath.

Isn't too important for me. She isn't faceless in my mind, despite not having a visible face. What I mean is that her character is strong enough that the helmet doesn't prove a barrier to my engaging with the character.
