The best analogy I can make is Double D from Ed Edd and Eddy.
Something was up under that hat, and no one ever knew. It would have killed it if they showed what it was.
Actually, if you played one of the CN games online and beat it with Double D, there's a pic of him throwing his hat up in the air. You get to see under the hat for a brief moment.

If you want to find it, google it. If you don't, that's cool too.

Ok, make it really ironic, only reveal her face ... if she dies in the game, and make it something you can avoid, so you would have to work to have her die to see her face, like she gets shot by a sniper that a paragon choice chose to spare, one of the shots destroys her visor, the other through the chest, or something. That would piss the obsessive fanboys off.

Also why would Shepard be grossed out, with the terrible things he has seen ( especially if on Akuze ) would an ugly mug gross him out?

I can't really understand this whole "not wanting to know" thing. The whole "preserving the mystery" concept just seems like a cop-out. Instead of trying to come up with a convincing face for the character, they just skip it in order to keep people from whining.

I say, make a face. Don't make it intentionally ugly, but she doesn't have to be particularly attractive. Honestly, nothing would be worse than if they just left the mask on. Better to provide character development and piss some people off than to keep the character the same in order to play it safe.

If they're going to reveal her face, they should make it beautiful, not ugly.
Her personality of incredibly intelligent/socially awkward personality would go great with a beautiful face.
Doesn't it seem like that would go great with a beautiful face?

I like this fan art though...

tough call
That's pretty much exactly how I imagined her, only slightly brighter eyes. You can always see them through the visor and I always felt like it wasn't the visor itself causing it.

I really liked the fact that the appearance of quarians is still a mystery. Sometimes it's nice to guess about it without having the mystery broken. I also think that the fact that Shepherd saw it but you didn't emphasises that the moment was an enormous show of trust rather than a revelation of the quarian appearance. Had the face been shown, it would have removed focus from the love encounter between Shepherd and Tali.

Another facet is that no matter how they handle it they will drown in Nerd rage. Therefore I think it's better for people to continue guessing than to provide a final answer. Would it have made us happiere in Planescape: Torment if we had known the name of the Nameless one? By not telling the player the name, but by telling the CHARACTER the name, we still continue to remember him as the nameless one, not by some fantasy name. Likewise, we will continue to remember Tali's face as the helmet, but by a later added design for the third game.

But of course my curiosity is piqued :)

If they do, please don't make her a space babe. Actually, every time I imagined her...kind of thought of something maybe like a gelfling from Dark Crystal (sans hair...humans only have hair in the ME universe, which we are always reminded of). But smaller eyes, maybe a more mouse-ish, angular face.
Tired of the overly beautiful characters. One of the appeals to Tali was her personality. Can't we love her for her personality and not HAVE to add a model-face?

Keep it secret. Keep it safe

More people will complain 'waah, that's not what my Tali looks like!' if a reveal is made than will kick up a fuss if it isn't. 'sides, you can already see her eyes at least through the mask

It's weird because Tali was actually the very least interesting character in the whole game for me. Like, literally.

I would love to see her face, but keeping the mystery going is what makes her so interesting.

Hopefully my beautiful blue love companion will be coming back anyway, so I don't have to choose.

If not though...

It's going to be a sad day in ME3.
Then rejoice, for Liara has been confirmed as both a squad member and a love interest for ME3.

I always thought the Tali romance was an exercise in uncouth and problematic hero worship.

And partly because of this, I say BioWare should reveal her face, as it would eliminate what is unwittingly a ridiculous idealisation of the faceless female form. Not to mention the fact that Shepard has been allowed to see her face.
So yes, I think it should be revealed. Assuming her face won't be the purple space elf most fan renditions seem to boil down to, of course. If they actually rendered her something truly alien, I would be very impressed.
this plus in the WHOLE GOD DAMN GALAXY how have we not SEEN ONE of her kind's face? not even in a fucking picture or anything?

seriously reveal a god damn face already so everything can die down and the race itself can have a face given to it.

I think... I'd rather not see her face. I'm sorta curious about it. But I don't care either way. I actually was surprised to hear her called a fan favorite. I've hated her ever since I took her with me to Noveria and she was the teammate that told me to kill the Rachni Queen. I know one teammate had to oppose and one had to agree, but for her to be the one opposing struck the wrong chord it me. It made me think of the entire situation she and her people had with the Geth and it made me want to beat the crap out of her for it.

At the end of the game, if Tali survives and the Quarians get their home world back, the player gets to see her face.

If you complete the game in less than two hours.

Totally.

I would be happy with either (though I would prefer to see her face). If her face is revealed, I would think she wouldn't be ugly, because Shepard doesn't strike me as a guy who would be with an ugly girl.

How so? She's the same adorable, badass mechanic chick either way. The only difference is that if they show her face, we will know more about her, namely her physical appearance. That's why coming up with a face for her, whatever it is, is character development, and that's why the "preserving the mystery" excuse is a cop-out.
