Not a very interesting screen-shot, as it reveals jack-all about the plot (a major selling point with me, at least for Bioware titles) or very much about the setting.

Well, it LOOKS kinda like that shooter that just came out. Except that shooter LOOKED like a myriad of other games and movies that have come out over the years. And there's no mutants in the picture. Or guns.
Nah, but they do have a habit of doing stupid things recently.Whoops, I mean; BIOWARE BAD!!!
Bioware is going downhill? Is this objective truth? Or subjective opinion? I have no problem with Mass Effect 2's plot, and DLC pricing I have no issue with, it's independent from the main game so they can do whatever they wish with it, and if people wish to buy it they have the choice. I wouldn't call Dragon Age 2 awful either, it was different, and a bit rushed for sure, but it was still of a higher quality then most. Hell, it actually does something's better then Origins, such as actual decent character development instead of the first game's severely limited version. Main reason why everyone bitches about it is because Bioware didn't just copy the original game, though they are legitimate complaints as well (not to say Origins doesn't have these either). Old Republic being WoW? Couldn't care less, different tastes, different opinions on it. Mass Effect 3 multiplayer that doesn't affect the actual single-player aspect at all? Boo fucking hoo. Origin? Depends on your opinion of EA's system. Everything you listed is subjective so don't try to pass it off as some objective fact that Bioware is undermining its consumer base and 'going downhill'. I just see shifts in business models and attempts to innovate RPGs (which works sometimes and other times it doesn't), which is MY OPINION, same as your belief that they are going downhill.Canadish said:You seem to be suggesting that Bioware HASN'T been on a massive downward spiral for the past 2 years now.Blind Sight said:OH NO IT'S A SINGLE SCREENSHOT BUT MY FAITH IN BIOWARE IS LOST FOREVER.
...Seriously guys? This is pathetic.
It looks like something I'd put as my desktop, so I'll wait until I actually get some basic release information and then I'll consider it. Until then, I really can't have an informed opinion on one screenshot.
Mass Effect 2 was great, but the plot was a shambles when you actually thought about it.
Then the WAVE of over priced DLC came along. We all shugged it off, assuming they were just selling out a little. Just once, to help fund other stuff.
Then we heard the Old Republic is costing well over one hundred million dollars.
Then we heard about DA2. The community split. Half said it was doomed, the other that they were just haters and had no faith.
More DLC and Preorder "bonuses" then ever before.
Then it came out. It was awful and it bombed.
Now we've seen the Old Republic and it's WOW in Space.
And now?
Mass Effect 3 multiplayer. Mass Effect 3 Origin Exclusive. Mass Effect "best place to start a trilogy" 3.
Now we know the story details and how it ends. It's a cop out.
So no, it's not just a screen shot.
It's a bland as all Holy Hell screenshot that's following off of two years of solid disappointments, abusing consumer trust and failing to live up to who they were just 5 years ago.
There is nothing to suggest that game isn't just another generic post-apocalyptic shooter from a random developer. Bioware does not deserve special attention anymore.

In other news, popular author teases fans by releasing a single word from one of the pages of his highly anticipated new novel. A portion of the fanbase howevever are extremely disappointed to notice that the word is "carrot", stating that this means the new story is going to be unimaginative and too similar to that other book they read recently that also contained the word carrot.MADrevilution said:wow i cant believe the amount of people that are judging this game over one image and no information about it? you are all making your own assumptions as to what it is from this one image and assuming you are right, and here i thought the people on exscapist were intelligent?

And no, it's not the 'five years of disappointment' that factors into the majority of people complaining about this. A lot of gamers do this all the frigging time, they take a very small aspect of a game and proclaim 'RUINED FOREVER'. I remember on this very forum a year or two ago people were bitching about Deus Ex: Human Revolution because screenshots of Adam Jenson made his hair look 'anime'. When Mass Effect 2 was coming out, they bitched about Jack ruining the series because she was 'emo' and 'didn't fit into the game'. Same thing with Vegas or whatever his name is in the upcoming Mass Effect. Now they look at one screenshot and damn Bioware for it. So yes, it is pathetic, petty and childish to have a pre-determined bias towards whatever is being announced because of one goddamn screenshot. If you're arguing that Bioware's track record has undermined your faith in the company, that's fine. But that's completely different then what this game is, how it will play, and whether you will subjectivity enjoy it. You say 'There is nothing to suggest that game isn't just another generic post-apocalyptic shooter from a random developer.' Well guess what? That works both ways, it's one screenshot, there's nothing to suggest that it wouldn't be something original or different either.
For the love of god people, play the game, see some gameplay, understand the story, or just figure out the game's freaking NAME before you get all uppity about it.
Bioware is original and innovative, alright.Cleril said:Can you say originality!?
