And some reasonable dress codes cant hurt.
I totally agree. If I goto a game convention, I go for the games.
If a company can't entice me to their table without scantily clad booth babes, then their product probably isn't worth looking at.
Exatcly, and im not trying to say that attractive women selling games is the devil.
Its just some people need to use some common sense when choosing how to advertise a game.
I like women as much as the next guy but, there are some things i dont need or want to see in public.

They broke the rules, they got the boot. I don't see much of a story here, and frankly, I'm glad to see some standards being imposed on these ridiculous costumes. The owners of this booth should have shown more professionalism, and should have been well versed in the rules of the exposition.

I don't get why this happens anyways. It's a job, it's a legitimate industry, start acting like it's one. It's like I can imagine all the heads of industry going into a back room smoking weed and eating doritos and gamerfuel with dancing Jill Valentines and Kagomes all around them. Not that that wouldn't be fun, but not while working. If these people can't focus on the products and tasks at hand without having to be distracted by babes, then maybe I should put in an application.

Now, I'm all for booth babes, but I see nothing wrong with setting a fairly reasonable standard (not like they required them to wear burkas, or anything) and enforcing it. The model on the left is certainly wearing very sexy attire, but is also adhering to the policy. So it seems pretty clear that you can have a happy medium -- models that are still visually appealing while meeting the stated decency requirements.

Also, I've seen children at industry-only events before, and some events are open to the public on certain days or times. I don't think that's necessarily the main motivation here, but it is a possibility.

Oh God, not another frenzied nation of killjoys. We have enough of Germany, Austrailia, Venezuela and China to last a lifetime.
... I don't get it. How do you figure my country (Germany) is a nation of killjoys? Am I missing some information? Are you referring to any distinct event? I'm confused. :\

OT: Well, I don't think booting those girls off the event was right. I do, however, think those costumes are ugly.
I believe he's referring to your government's misfortunate policy of dealing with violent video games. That's why Australia is also on that list.
He shouldn't have phrased it like this, it has nothing to do with the nation.
Ah, right. Well, even if it was badly phrased, regarding the gaming (and movie) censorship angle, he is correct.
I'm not quite sure where Venezuela and China fit in, though.

Koreans don't deserve Booth Babes if they're not going to appreciate them.
I had other comments to make regarding the stupid stance Korea took, but fuck it, I think you just might be absolutely right.

Plus, it occurs to me that if Korea doesn't want their booth babes, I can provide a home for them. Go to NorWesCon, look up I.B.T., and come join the party. Never mind the auction block, that's just for selling you all off later.......

And yet the game will sell there featuring two girls in identicle or remarkably similar costumes and there won't be a peep. Awesome double standard. The only difference between the two is that one set of girls can give you a definitive "I don't date geeks."

With all the Evony ads floating around I'm surprised the world+dog hasn't become totally desensitized to this kind of thing.

Why not just make a section just for these risque games that have booth babes? Like the dirty XXX section of your local video store. That way, people who want to see booth babes can go see them and those that don't can see other games. Just a suggestion South Korea!

They had a dress code, they enforced it. The end.

As for puritan vs heathen thing people seem to be going on about: it is all subjective. That said, my subjective point of view is that the restrictions don't seem unreasonable to me; you can still have mini-skirts and skimpy tops, they just can't expose X amount of skin. It isn't like they said everyone has to be in habits or something.

Also, half (or more)-naked women at conventions like this, and the negative reactions to the models being thrown out, don't do anything to help mitigate gamer stereotypes.

Finally, sexy naked women at a booth won't make a game suck less. If you can't get exposure just by having a good game, then it probably isn't a good game. You can slap a $6,000.00 suit on a dung heap, and it will still smell just as bad.

To be honest I'm kind of against booth babes. While I like women, alot actually. It's pretty much using sex to sell games. The game looks good but women are being used to get guys interested.

So tops don't have to cover the front, just one third of the back? Interesting...

I wouldn't expect anything less from the Koreans.

Yeah... Repressed sexuality sure is fun uh? We totally should regulate what people can wear... And what they can say... And do... And think...
Having fun on the slippery slope are we?
Just give me one good reason why they shouldn't go butt naked if they want to? Best I can tell the whole "OMG PUT CLOTHES ON!" thing started when people who looked bad started feeling self-conscious over people who actually look good.
They shouldn't go butt naked to this event for the same reason I shouldn't go butt naked to Best Buy. I'll get kicked out. Why? Because I entered their store, thus expressing my wish to use(and in a sense am already using) their facilities. At this point I am agreeing to adhere to their rules. If their rules are that I must be clothed then so be it. The exact same thing happened to this girls(more relating to the modeling agency that provided the costumes though) there were rules, they didn't follow them, they got kicked out. Know if they feel like continuing to dress that way when they leave the convention just for fun, no one will stop them.

To be honest with you, I hate pants. I really hate pants. They are a deterrent to all things good in the world. So when I am in my own house, I don't ware them. However, when I am agreeing to go to someone else's home, where their rule is that I must wear pants, I do. It's about adhering to the rules set fourth by others when I am using their things, just as I would ask them to adhere to my rules when they are using my things.
