Goddamnit bungie... why have you sided with the greatest evil in gaming?

Youe next game will retail at £70 with dlc £20 per download and a extra subscription fee for using activision...

Or something to that effect -.-
Hopefully not, considering Bungie still owns full rights over its own IP...

I do see the concern though, it might happen, and thats a scary thought =\
Bungie owns the IP, that means the game, story, characters, whatever else is all theirs.

Activision decides the retail price and can poke Bungie into doing things such as DLC and extra games as they're on a publishing contract.
And can poke and stab Bungie publishing sequels every 6 months, not working on anything else but Halo (dunno if they'd consider that a back thing), and then have the business gutted ala Infinity Ward, heh.

This is a late April Fool's, right? Aww, Bungie...
I hope cubikill's right.
I also hope Activision doesn't overprirce everything *cough*MW2stimuluspackage*cough*.

What. The. Fuck.

What. The. Fuck.

The two biggest rivals...CoD and Halo. Now, Bungie and Activision.

For some reason I imagined Bungie as a hairless cat being stroked by it's evil plotting master Activision on a throne made of the hopes and dreams of former Call of duty fans.

Bwuh? I was really not expecting to ever see this in the newsfeed, after the IW fiasco, I'm surprised anyone in their right mind would be partnering with Activision now. Oh well, Bungie's not a studio that will let itself be pushed around easily, so there's hope still yet. And who knows? Maybe this is a necessary step towards building the giant slingshot?

While I realise as a whole this event will probably not have a massive impact on the quality of Bungie's games, I disapprove of this alliance based solely on moral grounds, mainly due to Activision's treatment of Infinity Ward. While I appriciate that this means the next Bungie game will probably be multi-platform, as I dislike the idea of console exclusives, the idea that they chose Activision over even EA makes me less than happy.

Set your clocks, ladies and gentlemen: Bungie to run into publisher trouble in 2020.

Activision is probably safe from bankrupcy for the duration of the contract, however.

Seriously?
Who at Bungie said "Hey guys, you know who we should work with? The most hated publisher in the world!"
And why the Hell did anyone else agree with him?!
Because some other guy happened to say "Hey, aren't those the guys that have more money than GOD?". Yes, yes they are... Which, as it turns out, is quite a good quality in a publisher.

That said, I'm heading for my bunker soon. Walls lined with tin foil. I expect the fallout to clear out in 15-20 years time...

Think you're being a little optimistic there. Valve time puts Half-Life 3 at 2050.

Bungie are big. But they're developers not publishers, so they need someone to "side" with when Halo is finished. And who but EA or Activision could they have really sided with?

As long as there's no chance of Bungie going the way of Infinity Ward (and with Bungie keeping their IPs, that won't happen) then I can grudgingly accept this deal...

It still leaves me a little uneasy though.

Well at least we won't see Halo games pushed out from year to year, M$ still own Halo, so its unlikely there will be much to do with Halo for the next 10 years, unless M$ hands it over to another studio.

Yeah, but then I'll be able to pre-order.

Which to them is probably fine since they will doubtlessly be getting a massive payday to develop that monster. :p

If we're lucky. And they feel generous...

OT: This is some of the worst news I've heard in a while.

Bungie loves their fans, and yet they're signing up with the company that overprices everything!
This makes me very, very sad. Actually, to quite the Heavy:

"Oh is bad!"

I hope Bungie doesn't go the way of Infinity Ward...

One less 360 exclusive, I wonder if this will impact sales at all. While Bungie is good and all, I prefer IW games much more.

If you read it properly, they will be making a new title....NOT a Halo. Thus why they would go back to Halo in 10 years when the deal finishs.

Bloody hell, I HATE Activision, and Bungie is my favourite developer, why couldn't they have gone to EA instead!?
It's weird to think that, five years ago, this statement would have amounted to gamer apostasy. My, how the times have changed....

I don't think the makers of one of the most successful franchises of all time would screw themselves over so easily, they've got experts on the field and they know what's best for the company a lot better than you ever would.
Couldn't we have said something similar about Infinity Ward not terribly long ago? Never doubt the ability of people with deep pockets and no foresight to screw things up.
