My faith in the video game industry just plummeted faster than Jason West and Vince Zampella's royalty payments.

It took 9 months to hammer out this contract, I highly doubt Bungie will let Activision take advantage of them.

This isn't the end of the world, guys, christ.

I think we need to keep in mind this is NOT the same deal IW had with them. Activision owns the rights to CoD, which let them do that every-other-year thing with treyarch, which was what caused the tension between IW and Acti. in the first place.

Bungie are making the smart move and retaining rights over their intellectual properties. So Acti. can still technically pressure them to release their games more frequently (something Bungie doesn't like), but they cannot bring in a second developer.

I think this still looks bad, but I'm going to try to be optimistic. I love Bungie, and I have since Marathon. On the otherhand I have ALWAYS hated Activision, and most likely always will. Because of them prices for PC games have gone up an extra $10 (that will include Diablo 3 and SC2, btw) and they see customers as nothing but money bags.

On the plus side, this means Bungie games returning to PC! I'd call that a small victory. now if they ship with "Bungie.net" I can promise that riots WILL happen.

Bloody hell, I HATE Activision, and Bungie is my favourite developer, why couldn't they have gone to EA instead!?
It's weird to think that, five years ago, this statement would have amounted to gamer apostasy. My, how the times have changed....

I don't think the makers of one of the most successful franchises of all time would screw themselves over so easily, they've got experts on the field and they know what's best for the company a lot better than you ever would.
Couldn't we have said something similar about Infinity Ward not terribly long ago? Never doubt the ability of people with deep pockets and no foresight to screw things up.
When one evil leaves the stage and chances there ways, another enters.

Isn't it after the release of Spore EA started to change? I remember a lot of people angry over the quality of that game, and I guess it kicked start something.

Either way, I'm mighty pissed it has to be like this, the next 4 Bungie games having the Activision logo on them, it'll be like a stain on my fanboy soul.

One less 360 exclusive, I wonder if this will impact sales at all. While Bungie is good and all, I prefer IW games much more.

If you read it properly, they will be making a new title....NOT a Halo. Thus why they would go back to Halo in 10 years when the deal finishs.
I know they aren't making a halo title. What does that have to do with what I said? I simply said that I prefer IW games over the ones Bungie has previously made. Their new IP may be better or it may not.

On the one hand they are pretty much definitely gonna produce multi platform games, which can only be a good thing.

On the other, they just signed a deal with Activision...

As long as Activision don't completely take over Bungie, I'm fine, although I think Bungie may now have reached their pinnacle in their previous games.

Bungie will make a great game.

But we will for ever hate activision and remember this day as a sad day where it was reminded to us again that gaming has now become a greedy fat money grabbing bussiness.....

Relax people, their just the publisher, they won't be able to affect the awesomeness of the game......however, if they try and pull a stunt like with Infinity Ward or jack up the prices, you're going to see Kotick's head jammed on a pike at Activision HQ, I guarantee that.
It wont? Did you even play MW2? the game was rushed out of release, there was no play testing, the game has more bugs than a indy release and it's a AAA multiplayer game with about as much balance as a hippo on a tight rope. Infinity ward is all but destroyed because of it, the list goes on... now you are going to say it has no effect?
Oh yea, almost forgot about a deadline......GOD DAMN YOU ACTIVISION IF YOU RUSH A GAME I WILL HURT YOU!!

Have you been in a coma for the past 30 years or something?

It's strange reading the hatred for Activision (strange, not unwarranted)and how over the years they have become an even bigger symbol of what they were fighting against when they first formed.

Hmm. I guess Bungie went and got itself addicted to the big money. I don't think this was a good move on their part, but time will tell. Maybe they're big enough in their own right to get the tiny minds at the tip of the pyramid to leave them be.

This is very lucky for Activision; getting troubles with one huge game developer, and then signing on another.

Should be interesting to see how this affects future Halo games...
