Keirsey talked up Treyarch and the realism of Call of Duty
What the fuck? I'm sorry but call of duty isn't even close to realism in my book. When we invent a shotgun that is better than all our modern equipment that can snipe me half way across the map then I will believe it.
Anyways, He dose realize that these kids he wants to put soap in the mouth of is why his game sells so much right?
That is realistic. Shotguns can have an effective range of up to 75-80yards and are quite lethal at around 40yards, that's 120ft. Someone can extend this range by loading slugs. CoD maps are unrealistically
small to make gameplay more interesting. The sacrifices in realism are logical omissions for the sake of fun or are a result of a player's psyche.
No one is afraid to die so you have running and gunning, there are no higher ups playing chess concerned with key terrain or maneuvers so the game is essentially a meaningless brawl, and the maps are all ridiculously small so you have things like the 1887, one of the few close to realistic shotguns, being reduced to a seven pace range. The idea that 8 Spetsnaz would square off with 8 Rangers in a parking lot for no real reason is ludicrous hollywood tactics, but would make for a very boring game without it.
Also, to everyone saying that 12 year olds are the largest consumers of CoD, where are your numbers?
