[HEADING=2]GIANT DOOM POLYGON![/HEADING]

Now that that's out of the way. Is there any chance of having all the links to things in 1 place again? even if its on another page. That scrolling box that's now dedicated only to news was how I browsed everything on the site before because it had... well.. everything...

As well as that should there be a subtle box or something around the articles to differentiate them a little? my eyes are sort of blending them together.

Everything else is great. Thanks for not making the site brighter than the sun this time.

Really like the new layout. I was pretty opposed to the last update at first but you seem to have addressed most of my issues. Love the 'features' column, it reminds me of 'the good old days' of the escapist. Also making the news bar bigger and showing more helps a lot.

My one complaint would be the forum box, maybe switch it and the columns column? Or maybe for us pub club members put it where the ad is.

So, basically, what you've done is take all the things I'd want on the front page, and put them exactly where I'd put them if I were making it myself. Whoever came up with this layout: I award you many cookies/cupcakes/kittens, whichever you prefer.

A few things...

Why doesn't the motto of the moment box match the rest?
I've fiddled with page size and cleared my cache but it still looks weird.

Those tabs at the top.
I remember one of the big complaints about the previous design being that the drop downs would appear the moment you touched them. They always got in the way.
Now they move the whole page down. Looks too jumpy.
All it would need is to actually have to hover over a tab for 1 second, and it wouldn't be a problem anymore.

And I can confirm about the extreme CPU usage.
Touching one of those pushes CPU from 1% to 8%. Opening Firefox only moves it to 3%
(I know, first world problems, but not all users have super computers)

The profile thingy. It's awful!
I loved the old one, it was customisable, useful and most importantly, out of the way and still visible.
Now it is hidden (and doesn't appear to be working correctly anyway)

Front page is a clusterfuck.

It looks as though there are 3-4 different designs going on at once.
Some boxes(widgets/windows/whatever) are different from the central design. Looks kinda unprofessional.

......

I think that is all. Rest is good.
It's reasonably close to being a huge improvement, but a few little annoying things are holding it back.

Edit: 'Prev' and 'Next' buttons in forums.
Not sure if those are new, but finally!

Looks OK. My only problem is that the forum "most popular posts" thing has been moved to the bottom. Looking around that thing is usually the first thing I do when I go to this site.

So, when do the smart people who don't pay for fairly useless features (i.e., those not in the Pub Club) get to check it out?

It looks very nice. My only criticism would be the location of the Popular Forum Posts panel. It's easily my most used aspect of the site and having it higher in a place of prominence where it's easier to get to would be nice. Not that scrolling is hard, lol. Just would be nice.

Wow, we posted that at the exact same time, lol.

BUT IT KINDA REMINDS ME OF GAMESPOT!

Kinda... I don't like Gamespot anymore. They took my Jonneh...
I've disliked them since they fired Jeff and half the team left with him. The guys left there at GS are all good people, but the management teams and the people up top pulling the strings are just assholes. In a way it was a good thing; Giant Bomb is exactly what those guys needed and it lets them be exactly the kind of group they've wanted to be from the start. Funny that they've been bought out by the same people who own Gamespot XD

is It possible for a unified mailbox, and next and back buttons for messaging?
While we're on the subject, what about a mark as read/mark as unread option? There have been times where I've been quoted on something, checked the quote, and then realized it would take more time to respond than I had right then. An option to mark that message as unread so I didn't forget would be helpful. I'm not in the pubclub, obviously, so I won't be able to see any changes until the final version rolls out, but that's a feature I've wanted since I joined the site.

This looks good, definitely better than the last big redesign. The featured content section at the top is exactly what the current design lacks, so I'm glad that's basically becoming the core of the new layout.

I like it, but it has one quirk. Can we move the forum box higher, if not at the top left? The forums here are a bigger focus than on some other sites, and it would reflect great if it was made easier to access them.

How can I access the forum easily? It needs a button like last time so I can get to the forum sections with ease

I agree with this. I preferred the drop-down menus overlapping with the standard content. Having it move everything else down is too jumpy unless you plan to always have one of the five open (which I dislike, being a forum nut). On that note, the "Latest" and "News" tabs currently have nothing in them.

In addition, the News sidebar on the main page doesn't list everything that's been posted, be it a feature, news story or column entry. That was something I enjoyed, having everything in one place.

ALSO: I don't know if you guys have done this already, but PLEASE fix the drop-down menus so they don't appear immediately. It's ridiculously easy to activate them on accident, and they just get in the way. It's extremely annoying. Like some guy above me said, just make them wait ONE SECOND before appearing. How hard would that be?

I think this is an excellent layout. One issue I seem to is an empty grey box at the top of the screen where the motto of the moment goes. However if I log out of my account it disappears. It seems to be there on Chrome, Firefox and Explorer.

The forums button is at the top left of the screen, above your avatar.

I'm not gonna lie, I rather don't like how all the pages are stretched out now. It use to fit fine on my notebook but now I have to scroll a bit to see everything.

My other big compliant is when I try to use the taps for like say "Video's" it takes forever for it to show up and I'm on I fairly new computer too.

Sorry if I sound ungrateful but I figured I should speak up about any problems I'm having.
