I didn't get it because Blade Runner came out 11 years before I was born...

I did get the Duck Hunt reference though, which was released only 9 years before me.
So you've never seen a movie that was released before you were born? Really?

From people I talk to, I'm probably the only sci-fi fan who didn't enjoy Blade Runner. I don't remember which version I saw, but I was assured it was the "good version".

okay that's just mean. it came out 11 years before he was born, and it's a "cult film," which means he wouldn't necessarily have run INTO it. maybe he needs to see it now, but god, everyone's being so judgmental over how some of us haven't seen a certain movie.

regarding the comic: it looks like the joke isn't really in the reference, i'm confused as to what there is to not get. i haven't seen the movie either, but i could still tell it was a dramatic moment, and the dog ruined the dramatic moment, and that was the funny. i'm not sure why people don't get that, i'm not sure why so many people are convinced that the fact that a movie is being referenced IS the joke. it ADDS to the joke, but the joke itself seems pretty clear-cut and stand-alone to me.

It's a turn on the quote from the baddie's final monologue in Blade Runner:

"I've seen things you people wouldn't believe: Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion; I've watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time; like tears in rain. Time to die."

I think I feel old.
Oh. OK.
In that case this was hilarious.
I feel so inexperienced...

I am sorely disappointed in the number of people who've not seen Blade Runner. Sorely. Disappointed.

I'll admit, I got the reference, but I didn't get the significance.

Well played, well played...

I agree with both points strongly.
People getting uppity because you haven't seen this and that "masterpiece" just makes me want to see it less, because it god damn pisses me off. There's no infectious enthusiasm for sharing a favourite movie here, it's just scoffing at not being part of the club. I hate it.

And yeah, I thought the joke stood pretty well on it's own too.

Most of it's tongue in cheek mate. I know hype is the mind killer and all that but Blade Runner really is that good.

Oh God, now I'm ashamed of myself. I even watched Blade Runner recently and still didn't get the reference (I knew it was familiar, though. That counts for something . . . right? )

But at least I got the Starcraft and Quake references, even after playing neither of those games.

And one more think: is that a Wiimote lodged in his back?

I am born 1983. I always wanted to watch Blade Runner but it never really came to it.

Something always came between it and then you forgett for some time.

That's how life is.

I will watch it some time that's for shure but to play high drama cause of this is a bit stupid.
It is just so that people CAN'T Do everything that other people have done.
