Seems unusually broody and grim for Marvel.
It's the Star Wars formula... Let's be honest we all knew we were getting this, I mean Movie one, everyone meets and comes together to defeat the big bad foe, movie two, our heroes find themselves down trodden and demoralized without much hope, movie three heroes rally to defeat the big bad and save the galaxy (in Marvel's case the save the galaxy thing works equally as well because of Guardian's of the Galaxy and Thanos being a part of the cinematic universe).

What I was thrown by was I am certain I saw a character that appeared to be quicksilver, but isn't he owned by Fox now because they had him in the latest X-Men movie? I thought that was how the character rights worked for the movives.... Maybe I am wrong on that. Or maybe the guy running really fast with silver hair wasn't Quicksilver.... But I don't know who else it could be.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch are uniquely co-owned currently. They can be used by both Fox and Disney.

Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch was part of the avengers books as well. To be completely fair, Cap 2 came out first in March 13, 2014, to X-men Days at May 23, 2014 .

(Do I hear Cap's kooky Quartet plus new members from upcoming films?)
If Marvel/Disney are really brave... Cap dead (really dead, not only mostly dead) with a film to run on his contract and 'Captain America' 3 being about Bucky, Falcon and Widow figuring out what to do without him.

I bet very few would expect it to happen. My main worry about this film is that Marvel look like they're about to go to some really dark places (even darker than Winter Soldier?) and it might all go a bit Batman. I'm also worried that Rhodey might be killed off for sake of drama...

Also, I'm not sure how they're going to top the beginning of Guardians, more specifically, Redbone.

Also, someone might wanna call Moviebob and tell him to ready a few Big Picture episodes. Mainly one that dissects the new trailer and another to explain who or what Ultron is to those who don't have The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe memorized. ^^;
Lol. Back when it was announced this was Avengers 2 I think he said he'd do one closer to the movie. Also since the Marvel Universe has continually decided to get weirder he's been doing them on characters and such so I'm sure we'll see an Ultron episode and maybe a trailer break down in Intermission.

No need for that, I have time to kill right here.

So, Ultron is basically an invention gone bad, an AI created by one of the first Avengers, Ant-Man (yes, THAT Ant-Man), real name Hank Pym. Hank used his own brain patterns and waves to create Ultron's brain until one day, while working on him, the damn thing booted up by itself. It basically went on to become one of the Avengers' greatest foes and developed an Oedipus complex, hating his 'father' and loving his mother, Janet Van Dyne, Hank's wife and then superhero, Wasp.

After the first scuffle between father and son, Ultron used his encefaloray to wipe any memories concerning him from Pym's mind and ever since then, he has been constantly rebuilding himself, just like a computer. He has been a thorn on the team's back time and again, to the point where he actually ruled the earth at some point and is one of the few who can brag about actually being able to hack Iron Man's armor.

The most interesting thing about Ultron is that exactly because he is a computer, you cannot kill him. He can upload himself into any machinery and probably has backups upon backups of himself which makes him practically impossible to get rid off and effectively immortal in a way that most super-villains aren't.

I watched it earlier and was "...okay, I've been up for 20 hours, just got home from work...time to go to bed."

Just woke up and watched it again and...hrrrmmm...I'm getting the same vibes from this trailer that I did from Winter Soldier. That's a good thing. I enjoyed the first Cap movie and wondered about the obvious tone shift from the second movie's trailers--only to discover that the second Cap movie was damn good. :)

I suspect they're going for the same evolution with the franchise.

Step 1: Introduce characters in respective movies.

Step 2: Pull them together for an ensemble Broohaha.

Step 3: Realize that more of the same without taking modern realities into consideration (as they did in Winter Soldier by having idealistic 1940's Captain America come face to face with modern cynicism and corruption, etc...) and then going for Empire Strikes Back by pushing the Avengers to the next level to avoid, among other things---please forgive me for saying it this way---viewers' suffering from suspension of disbelief. I know I'm not explaining myself clearly on this last bit--no caffeine in my system yet--Sorry!!!

Final Note: On the second viewing I replayed the last bit repeatedly. Did anyone else notice that if you closed your eyes and listened to Ultron grate "There are no strings on me." he sounds just like Laufey from Thor: Dark World? If I noticed it you can bet that there are fanboys out there who also did and that they're already churning out ludicrous theories about Loki/Laufey influencing Ultron's rise to power.

Looks good enough to me, bum on seat +1. Iam not sure that this will better GotG. Things just got too epicly galactic with that movie for me to appreciate another save the earth scenario. They should be pushing ahead with the Infinity stones IMHO.

Gotta say though, that Hulkbuster armour looks pretty sweet. The rogue AI thing is nothing new but kinda relevant to current events.

Re the A.O.S thing, a trailer tie in isn't going to save that series. Bad plot pacing is going to destroy that series. More specificly they need to stop teasing out the Skye storyline. Just tell us who the fuck she is and what she can do and just get on with it. I guess they feel they have to drag it out unecessarily so they can tie plot points into the greater MCU, which I think is to it's detriment as a standalone show. Every episode is pointless mystery followed by a frustratingly small increment of reveal. 4 episodes in to season 2 and we still don't know big bads motives, who Skye is, what the team aims to do about big bad etc etc. Also I cant buy in to Coulson, hes still the goofy ex-husband from New Adventures of Old Christine to me

That was crazy. In the best way possible. I am so hyped right now. May seems so far away.
This.

If I can read in just enough... I see the frame work for a Hulk who can't control himself any more, a group of heroes barely able to keep it together and a freakin' sentient killer robot voiced by James Spader. James Spader.

2014 was a fantastic year in film, 2015 is poised to be even better.

Going for the safest option possible is Marvel's modus operandi for everything. That's why they made a Guardians of the Galaxy movie - a property with a proud, uninterrupted publication history lasting for more than thirty years, featuring an ensemble of A-list characters known to everyone on the planet.
What would you count as "uninterrupted"? There we many years when the comic wasn't being published, and there was a three year gap between the 2008 run and the Marvel Now! series. Also, most of the Guardians film cast was C-list celebrities. Most people had no idea who Chris Pratt or Dave Bautista were before the film came.

Looks generic and boring as shit, just like the first one.

How this gathered such a large fanbase is beyond me.
Funny, I say the same thing about most Warner/DC ventures not based around Batman.
You could. You could also say that about the transformers movies and Quantum of Solace. Are we playing "List the Generic and Boring Movies" game? I know his comment was inflammatory, but try to take the high ground and avoid the whole versus thing so that we can instead, stick to discussing this trailer (which in my opinion, is pretty fantastic).

Anyway, I think Spader is absolutely going to destroy in this role. I was almost able to watch the Blacklist because of his performance alone. I wonder if Hulk vs. Ironman is because Hulk is being controlled or because it's starting the civil war story.

*snickers*

It's called sarcasm, my friend. But don't let it bother you--others missed his/her point, too.

Oh my god, you've cracked the Avengers 2 secret! Ultron ISN'T really Ultron, instead it's Trevor Slattery from Iron Man 3 dressed up as a robot! Brilliant, absolutely brilliant!

I can't even name any Warner/DC ventures not based around Batman.

I think Flash has a TV show now or something? And it's horrible?

Also given this response and the response to it, was there some sort of a "If you hate a Marvel movie you must be a DC fan" thing going on here?

I must have watched it like 50 times already, i'm so hyped for this, is not even funny anymore.

One thing though, can anyone identify either the woman left to Thor (Blue dress) or the one right to Cap (with the red dress and the jacket) at 0:37? One of them is probably Maria Hill, and Black Widow is far to the left. Who's the third one? Jane Foster maybe? The hair is too black to be Potts.
