Wait, Shivering Isles wasn't substantial enough for them? I love Bethesda.
Shivering Isles was considered an expansion pack

How about Bethesda just put the content in the game? The game is not even out yet, and Bethesda is already planning on charging us more for their old ideas. If it was DLC in the last game. Does it not make sense for it to already be there in the sequel? Nope. They expect us to pay extra again.
They haven't started working on this content, if they simply put the future DLC content in the game it would likely delay the release by a year or more.

I'd like them to give us at least TWO ACTUAL expansions this time. Morrowind you got Tribunal and Bloodmoon, both had unique locations and quest lines. What did Oblivion have? Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. Granted, Shivering Isles was awesome, but Knights of the Nine, I'm sorry, was NOT an expansion. All you got was a quest line, and some nifty houses, most of which you probably never used ever. And, of course, Horse Armor.

So yeah, make me proud Bethesda! God knows you already have got me buying this game.

Bethesda you muppets stop making good games and just put a turd in a CD case!

That's right! We only take unanimous praise here! All of my opinions are fact! And all your opinions are...canned mackerel!

[sub]...but yeah, I've had a significantly worse experience with Bethesda titles than most.[/sub]

The biggest problem with Horse Armor lies in the horses themselves. They were prone to run away and get themselves stuck and/or killed somewhere and the game gave you no way to find them. It would have been nice if you could atleast put them in a ranch somewhere and leave them until you want to ride them but everytime you fast travel, they fast travel with you. Truly, Bethesda half-assed the horses.

I hope, if there are any mounts in Skyrim, they do it right this time.

Yeah...lots of bugs with no real solutions.
If I ever do play Skyrim, it will be to marvel at id Software's technical prowess more than the game itself. But I'm not getting it on launch; I'm going to wait a while so that they can patch the PC version past its Xbox 360 hardware profile.

I think that they'll make horse armor free with the purchase of the more substantial DLC. "Buy The Trials of Mt. Deathbloodspike and get Horse Armor included with no additional charge!"

God forbid we let someone say something nice without bringing semantics into it.

The substantial DLC thats not horse armor is the horses themselves. you start the game and already get the armor from random chests.

Allot of DLC is parts of the game that never made it to release or was pulled out or not added for some reason or another. after release they set to work finishing those parts and sell as DLC rather than it just go to waste on a devs hard drive. DLC for games like COD on the other hand where its mostly map packs is instead of laying off the whole level designer team they put some of them to work making new maps until the next game is at a level that they can go work on it, ontop of maps they made during production that people pay for 2 times. Basicly the Skyrim DLC is already being worked on. and the smallest DLC is probably completed already.

DLC should be like nights of the nine where you get a whole questline and some houses, new armor and weapons.

I am not a big fan of shivering isles mainly due to the fact I just dont like the atmosphere and it felt like a different game altogether, one I wouldnt buy. on the other hand the quests were well done with plenty to do aside from the main questline. The amount of content does make a good expansion pack. I just hope they leave shivering isles out and add new lands to explore with quests instead.

But regardless I wont be buying the DLC seperate, I will wait untill its all in one package and buy it then with the original game, plus I will have tons of mods and free DLC that way too.

I went into this article ready to say "Why not just make a damn expansion instead of charging 5$ for a small quest line or a house" But Bethesda decided to be cool and say that's exactly what they want to do. Seriously tho to hell with companies releasing a game then releasing little quest lines for a few dollars just throw all the dlc into one package and call it an expansion for 10$ instead of ripping off people.

Horse armor, pfft. Everybody knows now that the real business future is in hats. Just ask VALVe.
What about horse hats. Hats for your horses is the way of the future!

OT:It's a good thing Bethesda isn't going for the microtransaction route this time because it can get annoying at times. (Remembers how he used his 2010 holiday key recently to open a Mann Co. crate and only got a normal rocket launcher that counts your kills)

All I want is dlc that lets you play as a mudcrab. With magic. And a sword.

Must... pre-order Skyrim now. DLC that will be worth buying.
To me it seems like more reason to wait for goty.
I was originally planning on waiting just because I figure it will take them that long to get it working anyway.
This. There's always a Game of the Year version of these games.

May as well await it. I didn't enjoy being shafted for buying Fallout 3 soon after release then discovering I would either have to pay for or go without DLC that came for free with the limited (read: actually extremely easy to obtain) edition Game of the Year version.

Then again, I'm not sure companies that pull the fast one on consumers to pull extra funds out of their wallets deserve the quick profits that allow Game of the Year Editions to come out in the first place. So I'll just wait this one out, or not buy it at all. I don't care how good it is, sometimes a sacrifice should be made for the good of the industry or it'll just continue to spiral into commercialism and downright Hollywood-like behaviour.
To be fair, Bethesda usually gives you your money's worth but there's defcinitely a George Lucas effect going on there. Its predictable enough that you know that you can save yourself $50 by waiting about a year.
It is one of those things that makes me wonder if we're ever going to see another new retail title that has as much content as San Andreas ever again.

There needs to be an easter egg in the game.

You go to the Horse Breeder to purchase a horse, and he has a dialogue option called "Horse Armor.". You press it and he's like "We'll, just give me your credit card number and I'll take care of the rest."

As many people have alluded to, what's the difference between the horse armor and tf2 hats? Both are cosmetic and have no effect on the gameplay (excluding the hats that are part of outfits, of course)?
