Yeh i wonder how they're gonna integrate it with PS3 becuase surely the Vita version of a certain game can't be the same as the PS3 version? I definately don't tink they'll make a customer buy the game twice but my biggest worry is the battery life, the thing looks powerful but its gonna be pointless if i can only use it for 5 hours at a timeairwolfe591 said:Nintendo does seem to now be one step behind in the current hardware specs of other current gen consoles if they just announced a system that can now play games we've already been playing, but the new controller adds some interesting design opportunities for developers if it's used right and hopefully the WiiU controller isn't unwieldy, it's probably going to be about 8" wide which I think is the biggest console controller thus far. They would've been better off with handles like in the initial design plans we saw.Macrobstar said:This new console basically screams to me "Look we can play the same games as the other consoles now" I really dont think they where on top, not with the Vita and all the exclusives microsoft and sony haveairwolfe591 said:Even though I'm not interested at all in the WiiU or 3DS, I do feel that Nintendo Came out on top this E3.
Though everything that came out of the sony press conference has gotten me excited, the Vita is a definite buy for me this winter and with it being compatible with the PS3 where you can cloud save your game on the Vita and Play it on the PS3 is an awesome idea, makes me want to actually pick up Ruin. Hopefully you don't have to buy the game twice, if you do that'd be lame =/
The PS3 and the Xbox arent very expensive and you have a huge catalog of games since they have been around for so many years. The games for the Wii-U will probably cost the same as the games for the other platforms. Lots of old games for the other consoles are very good and still stand on their own (and they are cheap now), buying a Wii-U wont let you play those games and still only lets you play some games that are multiplatform and the first party titles of course.funguy2121 said:With the right horsepower and third party support, Nintendo will offer many of the same experiences as their competitors and also have plenty of unique games that their competitors don't. They have a history of this. This system has the right horsepower and third party support. If Nintendo stays true to their roots, this system won't cost a great deal more than its competitors are currently selling, and the games will remain about $50 a pop.josemlopes said:If you dont own an Xbox or a PS3 why buy a Wii-U? It will probably be more expensive and have a lot fewer games. I really dont see the point unless you really like the first party games. Thats a perfectly good reason but c'mon, they are terribly late and I would prefer that they waited and just brought a true next gen console alongside with Microsoft and Sony.funguy2121 said:This has (at least tentatively) persuaded me not to buy a PS3 or a 360 in the coming months. Not everyone has more than one gaming system. I'll more than likely be picking this up next year. Yeah, I'll be playing some games for the first time that have existed for a while. Are you interested in playing any of the God of War/Metal Gear Solid/Splinter Cell collections coming out for PS3 and XBox? Those games are going to sell.josemlopes said:Exactly, I dont get why people are excited with this, these game will launch on the other consoles, the ones that already exist for years. Also, Wii-U wont be released this year so some games will be launched later then the other versions. Nintendo seems to be always one step behind.Melopahn said:Couldn't have said it better myself. Its all sorts of cool right up until you remember you've had an Xbox360 or PS3 for a few years.Low Key said:Impressive? I guess to people who only play on Nintendo consoles. The rest of us have been playing these games for a half a decade.
The point Nintendo was making was that they aren't blowing smoke up our collective ass by saying "publisher X supports us." They almost always release their systems in the Fall, which means we more than likely have over a year until the release. Do you really think Nintendo and their recently reunited third parties won't hold some of their cards close to the chest until next year's E3, as they have with absolutely every single launch?
Prediction: Flagship Nintendo titles will be announced between here and then, and then delayed into well into 2013. Most of the 3rd party games already announced will be right on time, and we'll see more than a few surprises. Fingers crossed for F-Zero-Wii-X and Starfox-U.
Nintendo isn't late. They made a good business decision that was in many ways detrimental or limiting to its hardcore fanbase. No company is going to release 2 separate consoles in the same cycle. Instead, Nintendo is going to continue broadening the overall fanbase of video games (which brings in more developers and more money, which broadens our variety of choices in games), while also focusing more on hardcore titles. They announced over a dozen AAA titles just in the press conference. As I said, my decision is tentative. I don't want to spend $300-400 on a console and a handful of games now and do the same in several months. I'll wait and see what other news comes to light.
We can expect a flood of information to come in by year's end.
What I remember from what I was watching on gamespot is that what they're saying is that the battery life will be comparable to the PSP, though they aren't giving any specifics at the moment. Hopefully you can change the screen brightness like on the original PSP to help conserve battery life.Macrobstar said:Yeh i wonder how they're gonna integrate it with PS3 becuase surely the Vita version of a certain game can't be the same as the PS3 version?
