Pretty sure at some point many years ago Fox began to notice huge declines in viewer ratings and a growing shift in their audience spending more time gaming and less time watching tv so every now and then in some desperate attempt to return to their former uh glory? they single out what they deem to be the biggest 'threat/cause' of their woes and try to paint it in as bad a light as possible, forsaking, logic and reason in the process.

I mean they say its all about protecting children and whatnot but haha yeah... right.

Bullshit. That's all I can say. I can pull a quack with an agenda out of my asshole to push my agenda as well as Fox News can. Don't those fucks have a Ronald Regan poster to jerk off too? Just because it says words alleged with rape doesen't mean it will make you a rapist, they hate immigrants and say terrorist a lot, so shouldn't kids be racist republican asswipes? Just using their same logic. Not to mention it says on the fucking case, M for MATURE not Mommy bought it for me. And of course their favorite shit tossing chimp in a suit O'rielly is going to talk about the game he has never heard about nor played, and guess what? It isn't going to be positive!

O'Reilly had nothing to do with this story....

So bulletstorm causes rape while a lot of the VERY SEXUAL films and books out there do not? Okay, that makes sense. I suppose if the rape levels don't increase after bulletstorm is released FOX will make an apology? What's that? That isn't a very good story and makes FOX look like liars and idiots? NO WAI :O
Here's the bit about rape (said by the wacko):
Carol Lieberman, a psychologist and book author, told FoxNews.com that sexual situations and acts in video games -- highlighted so well in Bulletstorm -- have led to real-world sexual violence.

?The increase in rapes can be attributed in large part to the playing out of [sexual] scenes in video games,? she said

Here's the bit giving the video game industry's perspective:
"Video game advocates say the existing warning system works fine: Parents are responsible for deciding whether their kids can play games, not the government. Epic, the game developer, did not respond to FoxNews.com's requests. But game publisher Electronic Arts released the following statement: "Bulletstorm has been given an "M" rating by the ESRB, and we have adhered to all their guidelines in regards to the marketing and promotion of Bulletstorm."

More important, defenders argue that games with excessive violence and sexual content simply don't sell well.

?Games without sufficient quality of gameplay -- games that include highly objectionable violent or sexual content -- often pump up the level of this kind of content to gain media attention. This tactic typically fails, as can be seen in the poor sales performance of titles such as BMX XXX and Postal,? said Billy Pidgeon, a video game analyst with M2 Research.

The most common response is that, in the U.S., game makers have the right to produce violent content. If the government restricts games they would have to further restrict all media."

That's not all that unbalanced guys...

Yes, fox news is famous for baseless claims and overreacting, But video games corporationsare also partly to blame. If they stop including flamebait like this in their games in order to get "free publicity" Video games would be more respected as an artistic Medium.

So both sides need to get along and act like grown ups. Or neither one of you is going to Baskin Robbins.

In other news, Bill O'Reilly still isn't sure where the moon came from.
Now this just made me laugh so much...

On topic; it's true that Bulletstorm has a very debatable approach on sex and violence, but you know what? There's a reason why it isn't advertised as a kid's game; there's no reason why you should allow your kid to be playing the game and quite frankly, if you find it arguable that "you can't control everything your son does", then have no worries, he won't be playing the game because he's probably too busy masturbating to hardcore pornography while you shed tears of faux-responsability over Fox News' report instead of raising your goddamn kids and allowing a machine to do so for you.

when I read this, the first word that popped into my head was "hyperbole".
Then "you what!?"

I played the BS (lol) demo on my mates xbox yesterday and I literally pissed myself laughing the entire time. It was a total riot! Then once I completed the demo the game called me "dicktits" and I was crying with mirth by that point.

I have to say, it didn't make me want to rape anyone. Besides the Faux News article says something about playing out scenes in a game and then repeating them in real life... if I were going to do that after playing BS, I would be kicking people in the chest and shooting their arms off with a revolver. There aren't any sexual scenes in the demo, let alone rape scenes.

I haven't kicked or shot anyone today. Or raped anyone either.
But I *did* call my housemate "dicktits"...

I thought BBC News was bad... America, you have my sympathy.

Fox - stop being so bloody silly. You are acting like a bunch of attention starved children desperately craving either praise or detriment, apparently not caring which.
Stop it. Stop it now.

The beeb airs on the side of grim I'll give you that but Fox just actively makes stuff up and paints it in ten shades of opinion.

We've all been through this. First you start off lightly with some Pac-man and some groping then before you know it you're playing CoD and there's 7 bodies buried in your back yard.

Oh, Fox, you just keep on giving...

I'd rather that much stupidity in my country from one channel as opposed to all of them.

Honestly, if there's one game I don't mind getting attacked, it's this one. It seems like it was tailor-made to attract this kind of attention. Like Oscar bait, but for Fox News.
But that might be just what they want, could be more publicity?

I dunno, FOX News is still stupid either way.
