I secretly wonder if Fox news actually LIKES these kinds of games, and is merely doing this to increase sales and bolster hype...

Because that's ALL they're doing.

..Besides the obligatory:

Gamers: "Duke Nukem is the most blatant parody game of hyper chauvinism and Conan one-liners in existence."

Idiot response: "But it's so sexist and over-the-top!"

Gamers: No fucking duh.",

I would have to ask this:

"What girl in our reality is ever going to play Duke Nukem?"

Well, isn't it great, then, that Duke Nukem Forever has received an "M" rating and therefore is highly unlikely to be played or even seen by young women. In fact, I think the only way young women would have to worry about this is if lazy parents allowed them (or their underaged male siblings) to buy it.

But you'll never call out the lazy parent contingent, will you, Fox News? No, because you understand that this contingent IS PRETTY MUCH YOUR ENTIRE VIEWER BASE.

Oops, sorry, higher brain functions shutting down as a self-defense measure against having to think too much about Fox News. Naptime! *thud*

Conservatives raising a fuss over a videogame that hasn't been released yet?

Oh, Hey! That means the cookies are done baking.

I have an idea. How about we all go to the Fox website forums, and spam all their threads with "I haven't *insert appropriate verb here* this, BUT..."

Just for giggles. I call the bible. "It has drugs, sex, violence, women being forced into harems, heretics, and blasphemy against God. It is therefore BAD and should be banned before it corrupts our young."

I think the fair and balanced professionals behind Fox News as well as their thoughtful and well-informed subscriber base would greatly appreciate a more diverse take on the Duke we all know and love, by having him save in addition to a motley assortment of ladytypes a few well-groomed single guys (18 - 26) who are, after all, citizens deserving of just as many rights and rescues as the fairer sex.

next thing you know, Fox will be criticizing Swift's Modest Proposal, labeling it as an absolute insult to fetuses worldwide

No one saw -this- coming. Nope.

But, in reality... I sorta agree with this for once. Filth is not excused for being a joke, as it still remains as filth. This does have excellent trolling potential, though.

I think DNF has hit that magical controversy sweet spot, that has enough to gather attention but not enough to have any problems. Fantastic!

Apart from that, I think Penny Arcade sums up my feelings well:

How is anyone surprised by this?? Really?? Really?? Come on, it's Fox-News they where going to do this because well what else do they have to do? I really don't care what they have to say and this just another piss poor attempt to draw attention to game I have had on reserve since I was in high school.

I like how they say it is harmful to young women. Young women aren't going to be playing this you idiots.
Whilst this is true, it's more "The message" they're getting at with that statement.
I agree entirely though.

This is why you'll never see another Blazing Saddles, because people are hypersensative idiots.
The sad part is that it's not really people being hyper sensitive, it's conservatives being hyper sensitive... and it's not even all conservatives, just the ones who work at Fox. I told my girlfriend about it, and she thinks it's hilarious.

OT: It's not surprising. The thing that surprises me is that there will be people on these comments that hate Fox news for doing this, whilst at the same time agreeing with them... Seems dumb. I'm glad the game is so offensive. I think both my GF and I will enjoy playing this, because we laugh at things all the time that are considered inappropriate all the time.

It's just a game, if you don't like it, simply don't buy it. But don't try to change the experience or influence the development of the game just because you don't like it.

Duke Nukem should have a level inside a news studio where a large fox sits there and Duke has to punch the damn thing in the nuts to open its mouth in agony and shit down its mouth, then strangle it to death as it's choking.

... What? Too much?

Fox News make something up and present it as truth to further a political goal? No, they'd never do that. They're fair and balanced, right?

This isn't the first time Fox News has done something like this, and it won't be the last. But really, it's just free advertising!

I'ma suin' Mama Nature for gettin' me permanently hooked on a substance. This is worse than them cigarette things."
