He was shot for working for GameStop. We would all do it in that situation.
Why people have this unmitigated hate for Gamestop, I'll never know. I work there and I have yet to see an unethical business practice or mistreatment of customers.
Besides one really annoying experience, I like Gamestop.

Annoying experience:

Me: I preordered L4D2

*some transaction stuff*

Manager: Ok, that'll be $59 (somewhere around there)

Me: Don't I get that $5 off L4D2 preorder bonus?

Manager: uhh

*90 seconds of shuffling through papers*

Manager: Yeah....you do.

*Transaction complete, as I am walking outside*

Me: Is the baseball bat preorder bonus in there?

Manager: Huh? It's in the game, it is a VIRTUAL baseball bat (like I am an idiot)

So later I went back, talked to his co manager and got my baseball bat.
What a fucking idiot that guy was.

For a Ninetendo Wii?
Why not take something useful? Hell at least a game or something to go with it.

Sucks the clerk got shot because of it though.

What a douche. He could have stolen a better console.

Why did the robber shoot the clerk? So that he had more time to run away before the clerk could activate his police scrambler.

But seriously, he should've stolen something more valuable than a Wii. Or maybe he just needed the extra mobility.

I hope the clerk's okay... The robber mustn't have been a gamer if he demanded a wii of all things (fnar fnar).

Wow, what a jerk. Robs him and then shoots the guy for no reason.

And steals a Wii? The guy's a lunatic.
Fat_Hippo said:
A Wii? Goddammit, he could've taken a PS3 or something, and he takes a Wii instead; that just hurts. That gun of his probably cost more than the Wii itself! (but then again...Florida)

He stole a fucking Wii?Are you shitting me, for some people someone stealing their Wii would be a blessing
LOL as soon as I read that he stole a Wii I knew that people would comment on it.

OT: Feel bad for the clerk, at least he got shot in leg and wasn't fatal.

HAHA... perhaps the funniest part of this was the fact that he got a Wii! They're only 120 pounds, why not steal a PS3, sell it and then buy a Wii and 360.

The reason he shot him was probably out of fear that he might run to the police.

Well, ever cloud has a silver lining. Let's look at this: Shooting a man=15 years, armed robbery is, what 15-25 years? Hopefully the GameStop guy recovers well, and when they catch this guy, he will be in prison for a MUCH longer time. As far as I see it, he should get the maximum sentence.

I have no feelings for or against gamestop but I would imagine people aren't too happy about the trade in values they get for games. I'll use an example popular right now. Modern Warfare 2. 60 bucks new plus tax, trade in for the game is like 25 bucks(forgive me if im wrong but I went about a week ago to the store and can't remember well, used in the store it costs 55 bucks
This has always confused me because you are not FORCED to sell your games there. Gamestop is a business and needs to make a profit. They get almost none off of new titles, so they rely on used sales to keep the company going. Sure the trade-in values are mediocre, but you certainly have other options.

It could be that I've just been fortunate with my experience, but hating Gamestop has always seemed like the "cool thing," rather than being the "logical thing."

Well some people are stupid and think they deserve everything, I've learned to ignore people like that.

The sad part about all this, with it being so close to the holidays, is the robber may have been getting the wii and a few games for his kids this Christmas and didn't have the money to pay for it.
That's just silly. Isn't the gun worth more than the Wii?

^most of the guns listed here are $300+ whereas the Wii is about $50 less.

Good job, guy. Now, instead of getting 5 years for Armed Robbery, you're going to be going away for 25 years for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon. Way to ruin your own life.

I can agree with that. The "entitlement complex" some of these people have need to go. Nowhere does it say you deserve a decent trade-in value on a game, nor, in my opinion, should you get back more than 30% on a new title.

You bought the game and didn't like it and/or got bored? Tough shit.

Christmas shopping sucks this late! I refuse to leave my house...

Everything costs an arm and a leg these days, and unfortunately for the employee, he was the one paying the leg. At least he's getting a full refund on the leg though... thank God for doctors.

Oh how I've missed this, The Escapist users who think this site is sooooooo superior to 4chan, why don't you give me a speech where you mistake 4chan for being /b/, like all the others? Or could you, please, please, please, just be a grammar nazi? If that's the case, I excuse my hostility, if not, do take offence.
A bit of a grammar nazi and a big of a hater towards the whole "inb4" thing, it really grinds me.

True, but he could have bought the gun years ago before his financial troubles or purchased it from a cheaper source. This is obviously all just speculation at this point.

Love your avatar btw. :)
