Why people have this unmitigated hate for Gamestop, I'll never know. I work there and I have yet to see an unethical business practice or mistreatment of customers.
Well, the trade in values are pure shit, espcially since they remove the disc from the case with most games, which is retarded.

but your right, there is no justifiable reason. It's just the "cool" thing to do.
Game stop is to Gamers what America is to Europeans.

you get "awesome uber gamer points" for disliking game stop, even though everyone shops there.

GameStop Clerk Shot During Robbery

Despite cooperating with an armed robber holding up his store, a GameStop clerk in Florida was shot as the man left with a freshly-stolen Nintendo Wii, and some games and cash.

Minutes after a GameStop in Orange County, FL opened on Monday morning, a man armed with a handgun entered and ordered the clerk on duty and his customer to stay put. After waiting for an automated timer on the store's safe to expire, the gunman took the cash, a Nintendo Wii and some games - and shot the clerk in the leg on his way out.

Given that the GameStop employee had fully cooperated with the robber, local authorities have yet to find a motive for the shooting other than that the gunman simply felt like it. "From what we know so far, there doesn't appear to be a struggle and it's preliminary, but it looks like the suspect got what he wanted and had no reason to shoot, but he did anyway," said Lt. Eddie Appleby of the Orange County Sherrif's Office.

Law enforcement officials are searching for the gunman, whose face was captured on film by the store's security cameras - and suspect that there is a chance that he may be connected to another robbery that occurred at the same store the day after Thanksgiving.

The clerk is expected to make a full recovery and called his manager from the hospital to tell him that he was feeling well - other than, you know, the whole "being shot in the leg" thing.

I can't help but feel that the guy should have tried to foist 100 copies of Modern Warfare 2 [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/96119-Man-Steals-100-Copies-of-Modern-Warfare-2] off on the gunman instead. Where the hell would he hide with all of those games?

I think it's so unfair when stuff like that happens to nice people, just doing their jobs. Look, if someone is blind drunk and decides to see whether shooting someone is the leg is a good idea or not, alas, but this is just unfair.

I think it's obvious that this guy just hates gamestop.

Sucks to be the guy that got shot though. Maybe he can get a record deal as a rapper.

Man, first there was that story on here a couple of months about that juvenille deliquint who had to have his Wii taken away to stop beating people up, and now theres this guy who shot someone for a Wii
I'm starting to wonder weather or not Wii Fans are as wimpy as everyone stereotypes them to be.

If there is one thing I cannot abide it is poor worksmanship. Honetstly, if a man is compliant and gets shot, you're simply a bad thief. Shoddy job, mate.

He probably shot him in the leg thinking that it might slow the clerk from getting to a phone to call the cops.
that's what i'm thinking or at least make it so the clerk can't chase him/find out his license plate.
Yeah as bad as it sounds that's about it. There been a few stories recently about clerks taking down the robbers, he might have been scared a pursuit was coming.

Did they make him finish his shift first? ( :) )
I sure hope so.He deserves it for being a gamestop employee.
Dude, seriously? A job is a job, especially in this crappy economy right now. Just because you hate Gamestop doesn't mean the employee deserved to be shot.

Besides one really annoying experience, I like Gamestop.

Annoying experience:

Me: I preordered L4D2

*some transaction stuff*

Manager: Ok, that'll be $59 (somewhere around there)

Me: Don't I get that $5 off L4D2 preorder bonus?

Manager: uhh

*90 seconds of shuffling through papers*

Manager: Yeah....you do.

*Transaction complete, as I am walking outside*

Me: Is the baseball bat preorder bonus in there?

Manager: Huh? It's in the game, it is a VIRTUAL baseball bat (like I am an idiot)

So later I went back, talked to his co manager and got my baseball bat.
What a fucking idiot that guy was.
Sometimes people don't tell us stuff :( A lot of the time I'd get in and if someone asked a specific question like that I'd have to ask whoever opened and had access to the merchandising stuff because nobody would say, "oh, hey, when they pick up L4D2, give them this card with the baseball bat code on it; they're right here."

Although I agree that the manager should know how stuff works, like knowing the bonus is on a card with a code; it's not just built into the copies of the game that were pre-ordered, lol. Incidentally, I want one of those...

I`m afraid he`s only been shot once , these days you have to be shot at least 4 times before the record companies give you so much as a look in XD

Considering that I work in a gamestop...in florida...I'm now afraid to go into work. Supposedly our store hasn't ever been robbed, but still...

The Gun was probably worth more than the wii, He aslso picked the worst time to rob as theres no cash in the store in the morning. I mean, at the end of the day theres WAY more cash in the tills and safe. Stupid guy.

Also... Robbed before at thanksgiving???? Ok, its time to arm the clerks, or if your the clerk, just quit. It aint worth it.
