The AAA release schedule may end up a little anemic a year or two from now.
Well yes. 2023 was full of big releases and has had a lot of great games (and a lot of very expensive duds). Not least because all of the additional investment during the pandemic. But already in 2023 everyone started to size down again so ...

Honestly, same time last year i was somewhat hyped for half a dozen titles or expansions or full releases to come (and they all turned out well). Today i am somewhat interested in one. And that one is just a port.

Well, i still have a huge backlog.

Do what you can, and at least you have plenty of options to play. That's what some people keep forgetting or so spoiled or want everything with amazing graphics they don't stop to realize and appreciate the smaller things or the more subtle things. I refer to smaller games anyway. I just finished Penny's Big Breakaway and it's a really good game and fun 3D platformer. The boss fights are weak, but at least the game has great music, stage, controls and fun level design. All for the price of $30. The next Contra game comes out next month and Hi-Fi Rush. So that's two games I'll be playing during that month.

I'm experiencing digital whiplash.

I only just read about some guy teasing that such a game was in development a couple of days ago and now I'm reading of its cancellation.. ouch.

Uh, yeah. Looks nervously at the probably 300+ free games accrued across the Epic store, GOG, Steam and some others I'm forgetting.

Not really tho. Doesn't count towards the backlog if I didn't spend anything on it.

As i am more the single player type i feel no need to have the newest game all the time and can easily enjoy some decade old ones without any concern for a healthy multiplayer community. So i don't feel the rush to follow trends that much.

My problem is more that some of the genres i like lend themself to 100h+ playthroughs with added replay value. And i just don't have the time to do all those gems really justice.
But that does not mean that i can't enjoy shorter games like Colony ship (one of the last year releases i was hyped for and found fun).

It's almost always the shorter games that have the best replay value. It's always been there. I have 755 hours logged into Streets of Rage 4. The numbers still continues to go up.

Of course they did. History repeats itself. Is it for another LIEV SERVACE GEAM????!!!!!
I guess the silver lining is Jedi 3 is sitll being worked on as well as Black Panther and Iron Man game.

Personally I would've loved to see other SW games, because JFO and JS does have a bit of learning curve and definitely isn't for everyone

You'd think Disney of all companies would understand the risks of saturating the market.
Yeah, and they just fired the guy who was in charge of the film productions (check my post on the general movie news thread). The duality of this company, I swear to god....

So apparently that Mandalorian FPS game from Respawn has already been cancelled, like two weeks after its entire existence was leaked. Amazing.

Honestly I'm not starving for a Star Wars game, but a proper single player FPS game from Respawn would have been great. The Star Wars wallpaper would have just been a nice extra.
