Yet another idiot falls to the old fallacy of less guns = less crime...
He didn't really say that, did he?
And before you get all carried away, that is pretty much how we view it in my country. Less guns = less crime. A lot of danes, and probably europeans, view the american gunlaws as pretty fucked. I wouldn't say that I know for a fact that if america had less guns, they'd have less crime. But I know for a fact that if danes had more guns, we'd have more crime. So you can see why we usually make that assumption about americans too.

the last thing we need is bored teenagers with tons of cash getting their hands on illegal guns and have no way to defend ourselves
How do these bored teens get their money now?
rich family, drug dealing, robbery . . . take your pick really

I know for certain I was in the prescence of a group of guys around my age (abuot 22 at the time) saying how awesome a new Wii game that just came out was, and how they wanted to play it and the best idea was apparently to go steal the Wii of someone they knew and take some money out of his house as well . . .

I'm not at all saying it's common, but the arrogance of it is becoming more common, the arrogance of the current "generation" is growing to a shocking level . . .

For me it was the other way around, got an interest in guns before getting into FPS games. I used to write a lot, typical action adventure bullshit though I was never very good, I got the technical specifications right but normally couldn't construct a soty and dialogue hat didn't make even MYSELF cringe when re-reading it.

I remember playing Half Life 1 (the High-res texture pack) and being really annoyed how the M16 and Glock pistol used the same ammunition. That's impossible?!?

But since then I've learned no to get too stuck up on technical details, ultimately it is a distraction if you are writing or reading a story and more attention is being paid to the make and model of a gun than who it's pointing at and who is using it.

I think that case on the Firearms Blog was less a case of the Halo Effect and more a case of the Douchebag Effect from the description of the person in question (cap on sideways, low slung trousers)... Halo/COD just drew them to their world.

I mean only a COMPLETE MORON would pick up a real gun an casually talk about killing people just because he did so in A VIDEO GAME, a complete FANTASY WORLD.

One thing I can't stand is the "experts" who play video games thinking that the gun HAVE to be accurate representations. What they have to realise is the developers are above all else making in product of ENTERTAINMENT not education and modifying facts and attributes is par for the course.

Before you say ANYTHING about modern firearms with confidence, read this site... every page:

Second amendment...right to bear arms

Erm... okaaay... Wtf is this supposed to mean? This told me nothing mate. I already know about that retarded primitive law and it doesn't justify nor give any answers to why civilians still are allowed to carry weapons. But fuck it. If you wanna go around posting links, one sec.

Note that you're on the fourth place IN the world. You're among countries like Colombia, Thailand and fucking Slovakia! Some of those countries lack central heating. USA is the most powerful country in the world... There's your links dickhead
Are you trying to get yourself banned or something?

I remember around the time COD4 came out, I was at sleeping over at a an old friends house, and they were debating what gun was better. Also they were talking about what would do more damage, a knife or a pistol, and they thought the knife would. >___> This was one of the first reasons i left everyone I knew when I entered high school.
I will admit to hating guns, even though I hate my fellow man, I think every thing can be settled with out violence.

Interestingly enough, things like that don't go both ways. In America at least, our criminals would be able to get ahold of guns almost as easily as they can now if we banned them today and got rid of every one of them currently owned by civilians. Crime and murders would skyrocket throughout the country because law abiding citizens would no longer have the means to protect themselves. Other countries don't have this problem for a lot of reasons. But hey, I get the benefit of owning guns, so yay me!

HAHAHAHA yes!

GOD I have been wanting someone to say something about this for YEARS.

Hopefully this will cut down on idiotic "Herp durr, what is best gun in world?" threads.

I will admit, I want some guns from games, but I only want a) guns I actually know something about in the real world that HAPPEN to be in games, or b) specific highly recognizable weapons representative of specific characters

STOP THINKING YOU ARE GUN EXPERTS! QUIT IT!

I know, I know, it's not that easily comparable. What I wanted to say is that american crime world and european crime world is so far from each other, that it's not wasy to compare them. I was just trying to say that your laws are viewed as "out there" because if we got them, it would be one major fuck up. So it's not really an old fallacy... It may or may not be a fallacy in america, I will not judge that, but you understand why many of us non-americans think as we do, right?

The Second Amendment is ridiculously vague and can be applied to private citizens. Furthermore, most gun violence is committed by criminals, many of whom aren't legally allowed to possess firearms. Saying law-abiding citizens cant have firearms as well wont stop the criminal element from getting them. So gun violence will only decrease MARGINALLY and then those crimes with be replaced with OTHER acts of violence.

I've been to other countries, I've experienced how people see us. I understand that we are worlds apart, and I appreciate that it gives us different points of reference. In all honesty, I'm very thankfully I have the second amendment, because going to a gun range is tons of fun, I've fired explosive shotgun rounds and a fully auto M16. Here, shooting is a sport and its enjoyed nationwide, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I just wish guns weren't necessary for self-defense.

Golden test: tell me what to do in a misfire, and I'll pass you as competent.
Drop out the clip, put the safety on, rack the slide a few time to get the round cleared, hold the slide back and check for a clear chamber, dispose of faulty round, put magazine back in, rack slide, proceed with firing.
Am I competent?
OT: This shit makes me laugh and cry.
Laugh, cause, seriously, these people are fucking stupid.
Cry, same point. And they can vote, and drive, and speak their idiotic words.
