I sleep on my side, favoring my right side, or on my back, so I can stare at the ceiling and ponder what sort of delightful new flavors of nightmare I'll experience (or so I can imagine my girlfriend lying atop me, which I find really quite nice to imagine)

On my left side with arm extended out...pillow above my arm to rest my head on. Right knee bent 90 degrees almost chest high with 4 other pillows and a body pillow for support.

Despite having a very specific comfort for sleep...I frequently wake up with no sheets and often 1 of 7 pillows left on my bed in the morning. I'm an active sleeper.

On my back with the help of a Cpap.
Apnea sucks, but since I got the Cpap machine I do so much better.
My dad had sleep apnea and had a machine like that. To make light of it we'd joke about how he sounded like Darth Vader with it on.
My whole family does except I think my brother. I refuse to get the machine and we tease my mum and call her a heffalump. or elephant. whichever annoys her more that day

I'm a bit of a claustrophile. I sleep on my right side covered up to my neck, with a pillow over my head, my arms tangled up in front of me and my wife at my back. We always have a ceiling fan and sometimes other fans going. In general, I can sleep anywhere that is barely big enough for me to fit in, and doesn't contort me in a way to cut off any circulation.

I once slept for 12 hours wrapped up in a tarp like a burrito. In the back of a pick-up truck. Driving cross country. In the Winter. Sober.

I sleep in a chrysalis of hate and loathing for the doltish responses found upon Escapist forums. Your words so carelessly strung together, ignorant of grammar and critical thinking. Your existence can be a simile of maggots infesting the carcass of roadkill. Your only claim to being are trash eating insects laying you down on beautiful dieing life. You ignore the good meat and attack the already decayed flesh, expelling even more waste and wallowing around with pride. Only to grow into more unwanted lifeforms. My very insulation is composed of the dreams of teachers who once sought to inspire the young minds and now find themselves with wasted years and efforts.

And after this is posted, I will sleep a little better.

What position do you sleep in? Since I was born, I've slept the same way-on my stomach with my head facing the wall. My friend says I'm lucky to sleep that way because it helps prevent sleep paralysis and nightmares. He sleeps on his back and gets sleep paralysis constantly as well as nightmares almost every night. He says he can't help it because if he sleeps on his stomach he can feel his heartbeat and it creeps him out.
It's true that sleeping on your back tends to lead to sleep paralysis in those who are already prone to it, but the nightmare thing is crazy speculation at best.

I think I sleep the same way you do and I am prone to sleep paralysis, so sleeping on my back can be a pretty harrowing experience.

Usually fall asleep in the most courteous way; curled up in the corner so my missus gets all the bed, but when i wake up i'm usually diagonal across the whole double bed and she's recounting stories of how i smother her or punch her in my sleep.

Occasionally I'll get sleep paralysis from time to time. I've found what works for me is to wiggle my fingers and toes. It seems to shock the rest of my nervous system back to life. I sleep on my stomach and side most of the time, but it still happens.

I can sleep on my back, stomach, or my side. Depends on how tired I really am. But, if I'm on my belly, my head has to be turned to the left. I absolutely cannot sleep if my head is turned to the right.

I tend to sleep either on my back or on my side facing the door with my back to the wall...

I get paranoid otherwise, hell if I know why that is.
Hey, me too! I must admit, I get paranoid even under the conditions you mentioned without a locked bedroom door and both a flashlight and a stout stick within easy reach of my bed.

Except at my girlfriend's place, where I sleep wherever I can, given her surprisingly broad sprawl.

Spread out like a layer of sexy-ass jam.
Where did you get the idea that ass jam is sexy and how long have you suffered under this delusion?

You're a lucky guy mate, I have always had trouble sleeping. I suffer from chronic migraines and as such find sleeping in ANY position an ordeal.
P.S, your user name, do I get a cookie for guessing the reference? :)
