Interesting posts considering DoA is very much something like Ikkitousen or Tenjo Tenge reincarnated as a video game yet everyone hates on it for it's female design.

I'm sure they would hate on those two anime given they actually knew of them, DoA just gets more attention because people know of it, HSofD also gets tossed around a lot because people always post it in those threads.

But thank goodness Jim/Yatzee haven't posted a video on anime, until they are told what to hate most haters have no actual knowledge beyond pop culture references and sports.

Depends. If your above 18 and the anime character is known for a fact to be under 18, I'd say yes. Whether that is the same as real paedophilia, I don't know.

I only wanted to offer my personal thoughts: the two are unrelated. Even loli (to which I cannot fathom the appeal... not this or adult animation) is not really children they're drawings. One cold say that subjectively, these are pretty twisted fetishes, my feelings aside I suppose this is fair, but saying one is the other is wrong.

A drawing or a computer game that appeals to a fetish is not more pedophilia than shooting people in video games is desire to murder. I don't kill people in games because I'm into killing real people, I don't watch violent movies because I want real people to suffer or die. They are absolutely unrelated, at least from my personal perspective.

Loli does not necessarily equate pedophilia per say but in some places it is considered to be such and is illegal I personally think it is kinda stupid to take age in the story into account.

The Jimquisition's recent episode made me decide to start this thread.

I thought Jim was saying that the girls in DoA looked like children with giant breasts tacked on, not all anime women.

For one thing, there are as many different art styles in anime/manga as there are in the west. Just because one artist draws women that way doesn't mean the next one over does.

Another thing - Jim was being Jim, Master of Hyperbole. He often throws around sweeping generalizations that he doesn't actually mean, but says as part of some other point. He's even admitted to this a few times (usually while making a brand new over-the-top point). Jim was saying that he thinks the DoA girls look fake and ugly - if he swept up the rest of Japan in his comments, it was because Team Ninja tried to use "we're Japanese" as a defense, not necessarily because Jim actually believes that.

Furthermore, it is possible to find anime characters attractive while acknowledging that they don't actually look human. One of my favorites is Revolutionary Girl Utena. I think the art style for that show is beautiful, as are all the characters. However, they do NOT look properly human - they are WAY too tall, with impossibly long legs, look about five years older than any of their listed ages, and have colorful transparent hair. They're beautiful, but also unreal.

So no, you can find anime women attractive - sexually or otherwise - without being a pedo. Just like you can find any comic book character attractive even if they aren't actually proportioned like an actual human.

It's an odd one, really.

I don't think directly.

A lot of anime women have childlike aspects, and I think if you're attracted to those, even in the body of a mature adult, then, yeah, you have an attraction to under-age aspects.


But, that can be something you're not consciously aware of. And is by no means unhealthy. It's just, your taste of women are a bit young in some areas, as long as they retain an adult body type overall, it's not really crossing any line.

Vitally, there's a big difference between being a paedophile and a child molester.

If you're into Loli and other things intentionally because they're under age, then, yes, you're a paedophile, that's not healthy.


But, as long as you're not hurting children, then, yes, I guess you're no "harm" to anyone, but, I don't think it's a healthy attraction and if you're into a certain type of thing that's specifically due to the depictions being under age, you probably should get that checked, it's not a slope you want to be on in any way, shape, or form.

Also - Team Ninja's jiggle physics fail at physics. Jim is right about one thing - if you look at real breasts giggling, they don't move like that. Team Ninja is so proud of their breast physics, but that would be like being proud of a physics engine that doesn't always remember that gravity exists.

I have a feeling boobs would be very dangerous (at least more so than they can already be) if they actually responded to gravity that way. I'd imagine "broken jaw" would be a common injury.
