Is this morally bad?

Don't worry. If you're training in the army is any good, they WILL get this out of your system.

The only thing you learn in EVERY single martial arts is: The avoided fight is the won fight.

And yes, civilization IS going down the crapper. But hey, what can you do.

It sounds like a good idea. You'd certainly be away from everyone else, though how many asses you'll kick is hard to say, especially with the Aussie Army.

From what I understand, being a grunt is mostly carrying a lot of heavy stuff around you, being hot and sweaty, and constantly in fear. Talk to a recruiter, and as long as you're honest with them and yourself, it might not be a bad idea. Just remember that you still have to follow the rules of war.

Watch Generation Kill if possible.

True point, I really think civilization is falling apart, I really wish I was born 100 years ago >.>
Yeah, because civilization was truly great and not at all crap 100 years ago.

Eh, I can't exactly say I share your feelings but if you really want to "fuck people up with bullets and knifes", then I'd rather you do it in the Middle East for a possibly justified cause than back here on the streets.
Really? I'd rather he do it here on the streets for a possibly justified cause than over in the Middle East.
Eh, vigilantism generally isn't a good idea and has a very high risk of hurting innocent people, admittedly so does war to a certain extent but at-least as part of an army he'd be expected to follow certain rules of conduct.
Well yes, but there are innocent people on the Middle East too, I actually would prefer a psychopathic person whose only desire is to kill to be let loose on the streets of a city, as a poorly armed individual that doesn't know how to fight, than teaching him how to fire guns, giving him a rifle and sending him on his way to kill people, that being said I'm fairly sure the OP has no real idea what he's talking about, and I'm pretty sure the army doesn't take these kinds of people anyway.

Well I'm sure you'll end up getting shot in the head by friendly fire or come back to become a serial killer. :D

Careful man he'll come and fuck you up!

Couldn't rightly say wether that's morally bad or not but I am pleased to see some honesty about joining the military-so many adverts for the Australian Defence Force are all about airdropping Mcdonalds to starving African orphans. Sometimes you just want to shoot things.....

I would say wait until all the facts have come out on any situation before making a potentially lethal descision.

Knock yourself out kid, but remember, actually killing people isn't going to be near as much of your job as you think it is.

Morally bad?

By whose morals are we talking?

The morals of general society?
Yeah, that's pretty bad. People along those lines tend to get thrown into jail for murder, or discharged if they let it affect how they act in the military.

Personal morals?
Everyone is different in these cases, and you are the only one that can answer that question. Is it within your morals to kill others for such reasons?
If yes, then by your morals it is moral. If no, then by your morals it is immoral. If you don't know, then we'll leave it as amoral for now.

Either way, I wouldn't expect that attitude to get you far in society or the military. Being ok with killing is one thing, wanting to kill crosses the line for most people.

Dude... just play Spec Ops: The Line. I can safely say that if you really, really, REALLY want to kill people, it'll have no affect on you, but if there's some part of you that's still not a complete sociopath, it will change your mind.

Objectively speaking? Yes,killing for the sake of indulging the urge to kill is morally wrong. Furthermore, with that mindset...I really don't think you will make it through basic training,or,if you do,you probably won't last very long. Being a soldier is far more than a job or career,it's a lifestyle that permeates everything you do.

And I do believe they ask you just why you're joining the Forces...And they turn you away with the reccomendation to find mental help if your reason is to kill.

And remember, whenever you kill a person, eight times out of ten, they had a close family that held them dear. Some where, when someone is killed,a family weeps and suffers for the rest of their life. I wanted to be a soldier, but I realized just how counter to my lifestyle it is. You wanna kill people? Play [PROTOTYPE] or Fallout. It should scratch that itch in a socially acceptable way.

I think it, but I love the idea so much of going to war and fucking people up with bullets and knives...
Go for it I guess, just keep in mind a lot of it will be boring and tedious, and fucking people up tends to be an avoided approach.

"contribute or die" ... That's the opinion of a radical socialist (Soviet Union's system).

Now ... I agree with the underlying idea: "we, as a society, need to take care of each other". But I'm a communist, not a socialist. In my opinion, we need no government to lead us, and we certainly don't need people to be murdered, if they don't contribute.
I want the above idea in its literal sense: Take. Care. Of. Each. Other.
If someone can't contribute, help them. If someone doesn't want to contribute, so be it, but they won't be helped either. And those who do contribute live in a collective that actually works.

Now ... The problem with that is simple: Humans don't want to help others, unless they benefit from it. If one person believes they contribute more than the others, greed kicks in and they want a bigger share.
Without cutting this ridiculous bullshit from people's minds (not by force), this won't change ...

Soooo ... to sum it up: Your idea of the army, life a hundred years ago is wrong, and your impression of what the civilization needs is ... definitely not something I support in that form.

(Disclaimer for those across the pond failing at socialism/communism, I'm sticking to the European where communism is the ideal of society supporting each other and living in a well-functioning collective, while socialism is the implementation through governmentally imposed equalism.)

Honestly?

Nah, I don't see anything wrong with it. If you're becoming a soldier and you don't want to shoot people and blow things up then you're in the wrong profession.

In Finland you wouldn't be allowed to join the army with thought like that.
They do a psychological assessment here if you are mentally strong enough and don't think like that as that is a risk for your co-workers.

Later on you said you are half joking and something about civilisation falling apart.
Well if you feel like the army might be something nice then give it a shot. You won't be able to change anything with it thou.
If that's what you want to do become a politian :)
