Why is it whenever someone attacks gaming, we as gamers, make a huge deal of it? Don't get me wrong I love gaming, it's something I have done all my life, but when it comes to people like our good friend Thompson I just say let them do their thing. We all know that nothing is going to come of it, games will be around for as long as technology is. We are just making a bad name for ourselves with things like this and strengthening the stereotypes that surround us. The best thing we could do is say, "You are entitled to your opinion, but, I respectfully disagree." Then get on with our lives. Gaming doesn't need to be defended anymore.

He's disbarred. Why should we care about him anymore? Ignore the crazy old man ranting at those dagnabbert kids from his porch.

Oh, I love this guy, he's a laugh a minute.

Pre-order = actually getting the game, YEAH RIGHT (Not at EB Games, anyhow)!

Medal of Honor highly realistic, HAHAHAHAHAHA!

Taliban using this as a training tool, outright stupid!

The best part is how he takes himself totally seriously, when in reality, he knows nothing about what he's talking about. Can you imagine the Taliban cooped up in a cave, lit by the glow of a monitor, gaming MoH online to learn skills they will use in real-life combat? Yeah, didn't think so, although turning them all into MoH addicts might help stop their acts of terrorism... Hmmm, what an idea: instead of bombing the middle east, drop in gaming PC's and copies of MoH, it'd be cheaper than bombs, and less people would hate you :p
Indeed. And then upload viruses onto them =D

This guy again?
Well I guess if Duke Nukem Forever is finally coming, anything can happen. And this time, whats happening is fucking stupid.
Wait a minute, you might be on to something there...

Jack Thompson got disbarred, then Duke Nukem Forever was presumed dead...

And as soon as the Duke returns, so does Jack...

My god, it's true! Jack Thompson IS Duke Nukem!!! So that's why it's taken 12 years to get a new game, he's been screwing with us gamers on purpose! Diabolical.

An effective training tool for the Taliban?!?!? Lol.

OP. The picture of him would go quite nicely with a 'derp' caption on it.

I'm pretty sure all he did now, was just give terrorists the idea to use the game. If they weren't planning to already XD

For God's sake, Mr. Thompson, go the fuck away! You're obnoxious, misinformed, and, well, an ass.
Let's debunk him, shall we?

Medal of Honor isn't a training tool for enemies of the USA, it's a VIDEO GAME. I put particular emphasis on the word 'game', which implies something made for the purpose of entertainment. Also, Medal of Honor is looking to be about as realistic as any other game on the market (by which I mean not at all).

Next, you blame EA for selling the game to minors. That's not their call. Go yell at GameStop, Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, etc. if you want to yell at someone for selling the game to minors. While it may be true that minors shouldn't necessarily be playing this game (and even that seems to be a bit of a prudish view of the world; I've been playing M-rated games consistently--in fact, almost daily--since I was 14, and I've turned out more or less alright), it's not EA's job to stop that from happening: they just make the damn thing, someone else sells it.

The only legitimate point you have here is the fact that players can play as the Taliban is a bit controversial. However, it's the prerogative of a game company, protected under their First Amendment rights, to put whatever the hell they want to into a game.

Basically, what I'm trying to say here is that you're wrong. Please, shut the fuck up and leave us alone. We're not bothering you, now stop bothering us.

Thompson, a once sane man (and that's not saying much), is now acting like a complete and utter loon.

Seriously, for god's sake EA, stand up to your game. You intend this game to respect those who've fought overseas, then stand up to your game as such. Don't let these lunatics dominate the radiowaves and defend your damn game!

To everyone that's saying "It's only a game";

[HEADING=1]Don't use that damn excuse![/HEADING]

That only proves Thompson's reasoning and completely degrades the experience that EA is trying to produce. If it's "just a game" than that proves to Thompson that it cannot respect those who've died and that it really is a "murder-simulator", and it completely undermines the damn point of the game!

Why is everyone forgetting that the original MOH multiplayer let you play as a FUCKING NAZI!!!! Call me silly, but I think the Nazi's with the whole organized, systematic genocide, concentration camp, and worshiping fucking Hitler were more than just a tad more evil than the woman hating genocide loving Taliban.

]We have been allowed to play terrorists for a while, from what I understand it's just a multiplayer thing.
Even if it's not, so what? We're allowed to play killers but not anti American killers? We can play as crusaders, barbarians, hitmen, and gangsters but the Taliban are off limits?
I doubt MOH will do it right but I hope they do, I hope they make it as accurate as possible. No bias, just cold hard playable facts about what happens and the tactics they use. "I always wanted to see how the other half lives"
And who is talking about martial law? Does anybody thing this is a serious video game related concern? If they declare martial law, it will have nothing to do with video games and I know I'm quitting video games and movies as soon as that happens.

The reason being is that we are dealing with a real faction that we are currently at war with. While Grahm (ENN) did make a rant that would agree with you (all humor aside) he also mentioned this point even if he dismissed it too easily. The fact that the war is ongoing right now makes all the differance.

The things your talking about are all fictional creations, or based on historical conflicts that happened decades in the past. World War II has been over with for 60+ years, while not that old the Nazis have also been wiped out to the point of being a tiny, much hated fringe when at one time they commanded one of the greatest empires the world has ever seen.

In a war like this one the last thing we need is a game that glorifies the enemy we're fighting, even as multiplayer.

Now yes, people HAVE played generic terrorists in the past, but making things generic is what made it a work of fantasy as opposed to one of reality.

I would also have opposed a game featuring German or Japanese heroes fighting the allies as a playable faction during "World War II" had it been an issue. Of course the goverment then agreed with me because it had declared martial law and was very much controlling information and the media.

Right now without War Powers being active I do not think the goverment should actually ban this game outright, but I do think it's in bad taste, and something people shouldn't support.
