Do kids even know who Fidel Castro WAS? Black ops is probably teaching children MORE about history than they've learned in ALL their years of schooling in our "American education system."

Better start burning ALL of the Tom Clancy novels from now on... we don't want to sell violent, geopolitical literary porn right?

This stuff pisses me off... but you think this is bad? Oh wait, just WAIT till parent see the new Harry Potter video game...
it's like Gears of War, with spells and dementors.
Well maybe kids can learn now why the tense relations with Cuba and who Fidel Castro is, but again, even though it's a but naive, kids shouldn't be playing it right? So unless you blindly give cash to your kids so they can buy all they want I gotta say:

I support you outraged people! This kinda reminded me when in highschool a Concerned Parent Council went out of their way to promote Dragon Ball Z and GT and the Teletubbies as demonic worshipers. I even remember the flyer that said (in spanish) Milk means satanic bride... And I was all like no it means Milk you fudgepackers.

I just hoped these people used their energy to do something else more productive, like hurl themselves to a volcano or something.

oh my fucking god lol, all of these organizations and governments need to STOP! its not their job to be PARENTS. thats a PARENTS job(orly?). Parents need to be educated enough to make there own decisions. and demanding that the game be taken off of shelves because its 'dealing pornography'(which doesnt make ANY sense) isnt going to fucking happen, so they need to give up.

Hey, I could have gone with this:

Besides, the first one his actually a cestus, a weapon used by the romans.
Crikey, that's impractical and real nerd wank...but it's got blades on the blades. Wow.
I'm a Dark Eldar player and I approve of this.

But seriously, the violence thing is one of those things you can't have both ways. Either your hobby has nothing to do with violent feelings or you can threaten them with violence. Otherwise it's kind of like that placard in that Islamic protest. You know, the "behead those who say Islam is a violent religion" one.

Thing is...if you say you want to be violent to those who would take your games away it raises...well, questions.
Well, the video games aren't the cause of me wanting to punch them in the face.

If they were trying to ban a book that had the same plot i'd feel the same way.

Oh for GODS SAKE, I am so sick of people bitching about what children are being exposed to in video games. Instead of bitching about the content of video games, why don't those parents actually DO SOME GOD DAMN PARENTING! If a parent buys a kid an M-Rated game with blood and guts and stuff like that, it's the parents friggin' fault, not the game developers. It should be them on the chopping block for not doing thier job.

Ah yes, a group called the "Alliance for Global Justice" is condeming a game where you attempt to assassinate Fidel Castro under whom Cuba has known nothing but repression and poverty. I love how they say that they want to protect free speech, but then turn around and say that Black Ops is "pornography" and should be banned. Also, when you look at the article about this on their website, they give a picture of the multiplayer portion of MW2, not Black Ops.

Aye, these people are fucking idiots and for that, I give them the one finger salute.

I think these people need to look up the definition of "pornography."

Also, it's Castro. It's not like he's a saint or anything. Also, he wasn't actually assassinated, so it's not THAT big of a deal. Controversial? Yes, it is, maybe it's borderline tasteless, but it's not like it's JFK.
For those that dont see the point of the whole outrage on this subject -- yes, Im looking at you! ^^

You may be assassinating a decoy, but you are assassinating a real life previous president. Think about it, if *insert your country here*'s president was assassinated in a game -- decoy or not -- you would not be happy would you? Now, put your feet into Cuban shoes and think about it. You play a game, and you just assassinate your countries previous president -- DECOY OR NOT. It just doesnt feel right that -- game or not -- you would go about doing such a thing.

Wasnt it a double you killed? So no acklash on the whole JFK stuff yet? Im suprised.
From what I have heard -- haven't seen that part yet -- it is implied that you assassinated him. It doesnt actually show you shooting him as to leave it up to the players imagination. Im going off what I've heard here.
That's true, although they were gonna include it in the original script. Was cut for obvious (and about as stupid as this topic) reasons.

Why can you kill 9 million regular guys (fictional names or not, the war was real and so were the soldiers) but not a certain leader? Are you people so brainwashed that you completely worship them like gods, or what?

I wouldn't give two shits if my country's leader was killed over and over again in a game (or real life for that matter) since he's just a regular guy, only more pretentious and self-righteous (all leaders are, absolutely no exceptions).
It is different because -- like you said -- those soldiers are fictional. No indication to real people that lived, but when you kill a named person -- especially a man of importance -- it is a different and delicate matter.

Also, I do not agree with these people.
"No indication to real people that lived"

So there were no soldiers fighting in Vietnam? Would it be acceptable then, if they changed the name of Fidel Castro to "Phil Montezuma", keeping everything else (country name, setting, etc) the same, letting everyone know that the character in question is actually a former real president but with another alias?

Let's ask the vietnam veterans, shall we (both sides of the conflict, of course)?

EDIT: "Man of Importance"? Honestly? I refer to my previous statement, no man is worth more than any other man. Power, riches, influence. All this can be credited to dumb, genetic luck. Idolization is slavery of mind.

*Sigh*

Me: Cuban government do you deny CIA assassination attempts on Castro that failed?
Them: No those pigs did it!
Me: Do you know the details of all those attempts?
Them: Uhh...no?
Me: So what's the big fucking deal about a game making a fictional attempt...that still failed!

Also there's less storm about the fact that Mason was meant to have killed JFK in that game...

I guess it's a lot easier to take contributions from "concerned parents" and publicly pretend to take offense at everything with blustery words than it is to get an actual fucking job.

All of the bitching about selling adult games to kids is really getting annoying. ***** at the parents who don't give a shit that their 6 year olds are screaming fuck, *****, ******, ******, etc. over the internet while shooting people in the face. They are the real problem.

ok now lets think
hrmm
1.blame it on the parents
2.dont play the story or just cut that scene
3.half the people i know under 18 doesnt even know who castro is
4.calling a war game like pornography is like comparing a golf club to a peice of paper (fastest metaphor i could think of)
5.its not exactly catcher in the rye situation is it? what are an army of 1,000,000 nerdy teenagers going to find out where castro's house is and kill him because treyarch told me to
and hell i thought the scene where you pull the gun out on kennedy was WAAY more offensive than a failed assasination on a cuban general

YOU WANNA KNOW WHAT MY FIRST REACTION UPON SEEING THE TITLE?

"Oh come the fuck on!"

Then I read the article and it makes me fucking outraged!

Seriously, come the fuck on! Those people make so many failed, retarded statements I won't even bother picking out each one.

I know this happens all the time, but holy fucking shit, the fact that these morons can even spout all those lies and and hypocritical statements makes me rage now like never before.

Why the hell do people keep using the word "pornography" to describe things like assassinations in games? That makes absolutely no sense to me. Also, this is a little too late to make a difference.

EDIT: Dammit I should've figured someone already mentioned the use of the word pornography. Please don't hurt me.

Imagine what Castro thinks. He's over 80 now, so probably doesn't play any videogames, but I bet he knows about this one.
I would be pissed off in such a situation. And for good reason.
