This gave a a vision of a Fahrenheit 451-esque future society, but instead of burning books people burn good games with actual depth. That trailer is an incarnation of all the evils besetting gaming.

Micro-transactions are the future man! I can't wait till we get to buy our ammo for guns!

Anyways, not all of it seems that bad. Sure a bunch of it seems to go along with the facebookification of gaming and more mixing with social media but some of the ideas (specifically sharing new games and cross media over multiple applications) are something I've been hoping would get better for awhile.
Dont even say stuff like that!!!!! Imagine what could happen if someone heard you!

i had to stop watching the video halfway. pc gaming is dying, like an old man on life support. this video just cut that life support. and not only that, its soffocating him with a pillow.
seriously microsoft? seriously"?

I'm sad, but wholly unsurprised. Microsoft has lost the plot in its quest for microtransactions, and wants to shove its stuff on everybody. I seriously hope developers don't make this stuff integral to their games.

The only thing that unnerved me was the micro transaction thingy. Soooo, will it come down to this? The games will have 2 or 3 weapons and if I want any more I will have to BUY them? As in with REAL MONEY?

Who said that piracy is evil again? This is preposterous! If this is what the future of mainstream gaming holds, then any developer that even considers implementing this in their games deserves to lose EVERY STINKING CENT from pirates! (Before I get banned: No, I don't support piracy, this is just colorful words I use to express my disgust)

Maybe I'm making a big deal out of this and some games will merely have a MANNconomy style in-game shop, one that lets you buy new toys if you don't want to spend your time unlocking them.

Aaaand, I know many games already use this kind of mechanic, but the shit you buy is not integral to fully enjoy the game.

Man, it's almost like they want gaming to be for everyone instead of a tiny niche demographic that could never justify the massive costs for little returns! Clearly they have no business sense at all!

Oh, wait.

You were serious weren't you? That article wasn't tongue in cheek about unpleasable PC elitism, it was actual unpleasable PC elitism.

I'm going to go and sit down for a while, I think I need to reevaluate whether March Madness is a sickness only the new people have, or whether it can spread to everyone.

Well, since Microsoft isn't the only company making games, I think PC gaming will be just fine.

Yes, casual games are here to stay. This isn't news.

...I don't get it...

Does Microsoft have any final authority on how games on the PC are played?

(Warning: rhetorical question)
