I never said I didn't understand your train of thought, what I don't agree with is your condemning of an entire demographic of gamers because someone made a product directed at them. If you don't like the product, then don't buy it, but don't be disrespectful to people for the hobbies that they enjoy. I'm sure lots of people think blowing $60 on a AAA game is ludicrous crap.Mazty said:If people buy a console aimed at casual gamers and make it the best selling, of course it is going to impact gaming for everyone. And if people buy into the ludicrous crap that is DLC, of course it is going to be used more and more.Taunta said:Yes, how dare they buy completely unrelated consoles that they enjoy, and spending their money on things that they want to spend it on! How dare they become a demographic that someone would release a completely optional program to sell to! Those bastards! They have no right!Mazty said:This is what you all f**king get for buying the Wii and into DLC. Congratulations for bringing this sh*t storm upon yourselves.
Which part of this doesn't make sense or seems illogical?
Because it's not their plans for the PC in its entirety, and elitists are blowing this way out of proportion.Mad Hamish said:If this video is about Microsoft's plans for the PC then why did the majority of the video show things that require only a tiny fraction of a PC's processing power?
Well, good point. I guess it didn't register since I would never play that kind of game. I have a feeling Microsawft isn't interested in the games I play. And I have a feeling that GFWL is going to have as much impact on the world as Zune.Bruno Correia said:try playing a legitimate copy of dead rising of bulletstorm, you NEED an account to play them and MS could easly force users on their ouwn version of steam that they selfproclaimed the future of gaming when it onyl showed things that have been done and it seems that MS was able to merge all the bad things a common pc gamer feared into one dark abyss they call futureMacar said:Most of it is innocuous- so they're trying to get women into gaming more, and expand their casual appeal. That's all well and good.
I don't think Microsoft is going to have much affect on PC gaming as a whole- you don't have to use Games for Window Live- or whatever they're calling it.
Actually, the only part of the video you didnt malign is the part I find scary: micro-transactions, ug.
MS is late for the party and if they want a good share of this while competing with steam or D2D they have to inovate not bring a clone of Xbox tot he pc
Andy Chalk said:Leaked Microsoft Video Reveals Horrible Future for PC Gaming
An internal Microsoft video showing the company's dark, horrific vision for the future of the "Windows Gaming Experience" has found its way onto YouTube [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uBPYdgy35KA&feature=player_embedded]. [Caution: not for the faint of heart.]
That which is seen cannot be unseen, which is a real shame when it comes to things like this video created by Microsoft that details the company's plan for a connected, social, casual gaming experience characterized by bright colors, microtransactions and ceaseless interaction with online "friends." The importance of Avatars, representing the "style, attitude and character" of each person's online identity, is a big point of emphasis, as is the ability to easily search for, find and share new games and media across multiple platforms.
The focus here is clearly on the casual market. The video kicks off with Battlefield 2 [http://www.farmville.com/] by buying him a better gun and then immediately misspells "pwn3d."
I don't even know what to say here. Maybe I'm being overly harsh, or maybe I'm bitter because I'm feeling left out, but if this is what Microsoft means when it talks about taking the PC seriously as a gaming platform, I think I'll just go back to watching television.
