I don't need a sequel for L4D for a while, I just need more levels, melee weapons/more weapons/more boss characters and I'd be good for a long time. Fun game, best zombie game hands down.

Personally, in my own Left 4 Dead 2: The Sequel, I'd like to see more campaigns, a bit of variations in the weaponry, and finding other AI controlled survivors in game.

So as the four of you trek your way through the campaign, you'll randomly run into other survivors. You could kill them and take their stuff, let them come with you, etc. They may also be wounded, bringing up the "give up a medkit for a fifth gun" type of thing.

Also, something like Horde mode in GoW2, where you have a map, a variety of buildings to hide in, and barricade in, and wave upon wave of zombies. Eventually a tank would come and break it's way, and you'd have to go out and get into another building, or try to rig up a walkway with an adjacent building. Or perhaps a more generic, "Hide in this building, shoot out" type of thing, maybe with a counter-strikish 'earn money, buy guns' mechanic. Or you could spend money to reinforce your structure, build defensive measures, like being able to pour gasoline on them from the roof and then light them on fire.

Oh, and for the people asking for a story, quite being antisocial dullards and get some friends. Shit, there's a Steam group on here and a X360 group on here too. Those are the only two platforms that matter, pick whichever one is relevant and join and get playing.

EDIT: Also, to everyone who wants a melee weapon, you have one. It's called the butt of your gun.

I would love to see a mode were you make a barricade then waves of zombies came at you, the point is seeing how long you can survive the longer the more points. Different types of multiplayer would be great like lets say something like GMOD zombies!

I just noticed the person above me said waves to....

Waves of zombies are a popular wish.

How about a game where it said at the end - STOP MAKING REPEAT THREADS ON THE ESCAPIST ABOUT SEQUEL IDEAS!

Also, people keep repeating the same things within these threads.

I always thought the sequel(if there was one) would be called "Zombies 8 Us"

Aside from that, I'd like to see more teamwork oriented things, like creating barricades from nearby furniture or supplies.

That or melee weapons like pipes, baseball bats, fire axes, that sort of thing.

In addition to more levels and maybe a new boss infected(or 2.)

More Guns/Weapons.

Make it more tactical/ less linear. I think it would be cool if they just spawned you randomly in a city and you had to get to X random point and the computer would randomly lock out streets etc and it was up to the players to find a way to get to the point. I somewhat liked how in Resident Evil you had to pick doors or have people boost you to certain places.

Less Smokers - I cannot tell you how much bs smokers are in versus mode, people getting pulled off roofs etc.
Pretty much what i was thinking - having the whole city open to you instead of just a few alleys. Give the player infected some good ambush spots

Apparently Valve toyed with this idea, but after some play-testing decided that having zombies around every corner was tense enough without having to figure out where the hell you're supposed to go. And I'm inclined to agree that there's nothing wrong with it being linear as long as it isn't boring.

EDIT: And I agree with the smoker comment, but for a different reason: smokers just aren't fun to play as.

You realize you're not meant to win in versus, don't you? If you listen to the developer comentary, they say they originaly had versus as the only mode, but had to make concessions for people who wanted to actually finish the campaigns, but those made it no fun for the infected players. So they split campaign mode off from versus, and made versus a lot harder on the survivors, in order to make it fun to play as the infected.

I humbly disagree. The smoker is great fun to play as for me, even more fun than the tank. Though Boomer still takes the spotlight for my favourite special infected.

I'm not sure if that's really awesome or really stupid.

As for sequel and DL wants, definitely more campaigns and zombie skins. It get's a little less real when you kill the same plaid shirt wearing zombie 3 times in a row.

I know you're not supposed to win in VS mode, but a player smoker being able to drag a player off things ruins the experience because unless you abandon that player you have to redo a chunk of area and will most likely get stuck there.
For example in No Mercy the 3rd stage, when you run out of the diner and onto the lift and across the roof smokers pull people off the roof left and right. The players pulled off have to consistently run back up the lift and across the roof, and by the time the players get back on the lift and across the roof again another smoker spawns and does it again.
There are a ton of points in No Mercy where a smart smoker can absolutely gib a party and make them redo a chunk of area

I'm not sure there would be a sequel to be honest.

And if there was the only thing I think they change is more levels, a storyline and a little more depth and variety in the gameplay.

Character customization. It's kind of hard to identify with one of the current characters :(

Anyway, I just got L4D yesterday (birthday ftw), and I've still only played No Mercy, but I think the game is perfect the way it is. I mean, any game on XBL where you can play a match with any random group of people and actually be forced to work together is a heaven send; the people I met on No Mercy are now on my friends list just so we can do the other campaigns together. But I have to ask; is the end of No Mercy supposed to be so hard? I mean, we were all playing on normal and lost about 50 times before we switched to easy and won on our 10th attempt, and even then only 2 of us survived. Are we just n00bs, or is it actually really hard?
It's actually hard. But not that hard.

L4D doesn't really need a storyline. All you need to know going into it is that there's been an infection which has turned people feral and even started to mutate them. You play as one of four survivors who need to get the hell away from the infected as far as possible.

Here's the thing though: Why are you saying it just about this game? Valve have done this before. Half Life & Half life 2 worked on the same premise of knowing only so much of what's going on and then just throwing you into the game. Its works brilliantly.
