I'm really surprised by how many people are really rooting against LulzSec. I don't think they're heroes or anything but I also can't sympathize with a multi-billion dollar company enough to villanize them the way most of the people in this thread are.
And I don't understand why people can't sympathize or think pleasant thoughts about billion-dollar corporations, especially while chucking your money at them (they have billions of dollars for a reason). I also don't see how people CAN sympathize with a faceless amorphous blob of tools doing illegal and scary things for amusement.

At any rate, Microsoft Sony (derp'd there) doesn't randomly put my address, name, and credit card numbers out for everyone to see, better then can be said for LulzSec.

You people do realize not a thing will happen to this guy and it will just piss of more hackers. The FBI is a bunch of fucking half wits that took this long to supposedly make a arrest.

Don't sympathize with Sony if you don't want to, sympathize with the millions of people that are getting fucked over by this.
I do but Sony should have protected their information better.

So it's ok to rob people if they are rich sounds like some bad logic.

Let me expain:

What Lulzsec is doing? Hacking in this regard? That is a felony.

Last I checked, most people don't support those who break the law for no other reason than "for the lulz". And on Sonys side? I feel sorry for them. I also feel sorry for the consumer.

But lulzsec? I hope these bastards get jail for what they've done.

what better way to get your buddies out of prison?
'lol were all still here you idiots'

either that, or
they left breadcrumbs to a random ip and got someone arrested just to prove how pathetic everyone is, and how godly they are.. it's the sort of thing hackers do

Sony never did anything illegal. All they did was remove a people many people didn't use, and most of the ones who did abused.
It's quite depressing how little Sony was punished for flat out lying. Legal precedent (or lack thereof) is quite dangerous. Private companies already wield considerble legal power; they can simply bleed claims dry with protracted claims/cases.

Though as I understand it, Sony actually was fined in Norway and Canada for breaking Advertising laws over the Removal of the Other OS.

In short: Sony should be held to their promises. They made their bed, they should lay in it, rather than just stepping on the faces of their customers to get what they want.

I don't blame the victim of crimes. It's like the "she was asking for it" defense of raping someone.
Your argument is invalid worldwide try again and your prison system crap doesn't help the problem. Justice is arbitrary for the most part and doesn't really help anyone in the long run, in fact it hurts you even more. Now perhaps you are thinking" I don't want it to hurt me more", well sir maybe you want them shoot and killed very little harm to you, but much harm to their families and children. I was kidding abotu the harm to them everyone knows hackers arn't POEPLE1!1!11!
And to clarify on the rape IN OTHER COUNTRIES IT IS THE WOMAN'S FAULT LULZ!
What the hell are you on about? Your post is rather incoherent.

Are you trying to say that it is the rape victims fault, depending on which part of the world they live in?
It actually is, by law anyway. The woman is charged and punished as well basically the woman was to pretty and it was her fault for being to pretty. Nice world we live in right?

I don't know if you're trying to derail this into a philosophical discussion about the justice system or trolling but I'm just reporting and ignoring either way.
Hey a contradiction.
reporting and ignoring
I'm sorry that you lack the knowledge about he prison system in the US though it's a real drain on resources to feed some one for 20-entire life years and killing them in an expensive way.
Btw guys Hackers get nice jails, not the gritty ones you are thinking about.

Just saw your edit. Are you seriously suggesting that if someone gets shot in a bank robbery, then it's their fault for standing around? Really? Can you explain this to me? Because if not, them I'm fairly certain that I should report you.
Well it is I call them like I see'm.(Learn Sarcasm)
Like the situation he suggested happens that often and is related to the topic at hand anyway.

LulzSec is such an asinine name.

I don't know what to think of these guys. I don't agree with their methods. Even if their motives are honest they're going about it in a stupid way. That stupid meme/4 chan way of speaking pisses me off too.

To be honest I'd be happy if these guys were brought down. Not because I dislike them to any great degree but because they seem far too arrogant for their own good and a hefty backhand slap across the face would be in their best interests.

I've got to say - showing companies that their security isn't up to scratch is a positive. Doing it by stealing customer information? Not cool. How about stealing something that doesn't turn both the company and its customers into the victims?

And now the glorious game begins, in which everybody the FBI catches them, one by one, and they're are placed all in separate rooms wearing those ugly orange jumpsuits and forced to spill the beans. Then, they'll line up all their computers in front of a firing squad and tell the men to open fire. And afterwards, a flamethrower will be employed. Why is it that no one ever sees the consequences of their actions? "No no, I won't be caught, 'CAUSE I'M SPECIAL!". Right. Tell me another one.

you wanna watch the FBI and Sony ream guys in the ass?
Totally. They deserve every minute of jailtime they get over it.
Why? Cause you couldn't play Socom for a couple days?

Didn't Sony sell PS3 touting their capability to run multiple operating systems (i.e. Linux) and then go back on that by removing functions and punishing it's users until they updated their PS3's to remove the capability to run other OS's?

Sounds like Sony should be punished....oh wait

Honestly I'm rooting for lulzsec. They are willing to show these people how poorly these companies defend themselves, which is needed.
So apparently if a bank gets robbed, and a bunch of bank customers and employees die during the robbery it's all the bank's fault for not having 15 armed marines guarding every entrance. Ok then.
Yes lets compare hacking to murder and terrorism, well done /sarcasm

Everyone seems to not check anything for themselves...

More people are pissed off about the "millions of people put at risk for identity theft" thing rather than not being able to play games.
Regardless of what Sony did, when it affects that many people in that way, I think we're justified in thinking these guys deserve a harsh punishment.
LulzSec didn't hack PSN, they hacked Sony Pictures.

For once, the FBI does something... WHEN IT IS NOT AT ALL A THREAT TO NATIONAL SECURITY. STOP focusing on petty hackers who spend their time hacking SONY of all companies, and START actually LOOKING for AL QUEIDA, who want to KILL US.
FBI handles in-house matters. You're thinking CIA, who handle international matters. And these jerks have actually stolen personal information of many citizens, and they admit it. That's a threat to the security of many citizens in our nation. Sounds like it's in their department.

Not all secret spy organizations are the same.

If what they said about the SQL injection is true (Though lying about that meets their goal at cost of ego)

Then it is more akin to leaving the key to the vault under the doormat, and someone opening the vault, taking a pic and shutting it up again.

Wrong in method, but still.
