Ah! Okay, now it makes sense. Trump isn't a traitor, he didn't commit high crimes against the United States and sell our national secrets for debt relief...he's a toddler with no comprehension of other people's property.
I've known he's a toddler in the body of an 80 year old man for years now. My 5 year old has more patience and better manners then he does. She doesn't scream into twitter at 3 am to boot.

Quick reminder, in the context of "Trump wanted to keep things for vanity, not to sell government secrets", we still don't know what the classified documents actually included. The ultra high level mega classified stuff could be things like a personal letter from a foreign leader or the details of how Trump was transported to and from a major event (which is obviously a highly classified document beforehand but utterly harmless now). There may have been literally nothing consequential to national security in Mar-a-Lago.

Completely irrelevant. The documents are marked as classified and are product and property of the US government departments that created them. Unless they went through the declassification process and were obtained as authorised copies under some like a Freedom of Information request, they had no business being where they were even while Donald Trump was President, and even less so after he was no longer holding that office.

And hey, shit happens. People forget things - though this is a worryingly large thing to slip one’s mind - and had Mr. Trump discovered all these documents still in his possession and just told the Secret Service to come and get them it would have been largely no harm no foul. Maybe he gets a talking to about proper document handling or something but it would not have turned into this.

That's where you're wrong. They made a bunch of noise about how Trump might be selling US nuclear secrets until just before an election, and then afterwards suddenly realized he had nothing there to sell. They were going to investigate him for something no matter what he did, and there'd be no meaningful difference in the outcome, and Twitter and Reddit will continue crying about how he could possibly keep getting away with these heinous crimes that never get prosecuted.

I mean whatever. Ten bucks says we know how this ends up. I'll give Trump this, when he said he was above the law, he wasn't wrong. Dude isn't even one one thousandth as smart as he thinks he is, but he is as immune to consequences.
