I certainly had a great time, I can't wait for next year :)

Oh man! Obvious outcome was obvious! Underdog always wins on the Escapist... wait... damn that's kind of ironic.
Didn't Turbine win three years in a row? It's hard to have multiple wins and remain an underdog. I also wouldn't consider Valve an underdog and they won last year.

It's funny because even though Minecraft (Mojang) won, I still like the games I like. Fancy that.
HOLY SHIT YOU CAN DO THAT?! I don't have to instantly like Mojang and hate Nintendo? I can just go on playing the games I like and realize that this contest doesn't have any bearing on my own personal opinions?!

Finally, someone else with some sense. Now if only everyone else would realize this and stop flaming each other.

Nice to see Mojang the Destroyer win and not some spam reliant conglomerate (Hi Zyngie, we're waving!).

Now, serious question this:

What was the general tone of this year's MM like?
After three years of general bad feeling and ban-a-matics I avoided it completely this year, but did notice it popping up in the recent comments bar a lot less than I remember, so I sort of assumed argument stacks weren't happening as much.
So, were people nicer this time round?
Join the club, I skipped it too. Although, if some of these thread responses are anything to go by, I would say no. On a more positive note, I'm glad I get to come back to the Escapist after a month of being away, feels nice.

Well played Mojang fans. Now don't be douches about it and we can all try to be civil.
Luckily it seems that the mojang fans are remaining silent, while the bioware/valve/nintendo fans are the ones being douches

there is still not reason majong should have beat valve or nintendo
I agree with this statement completely. I was SHOCKED to see some of the companies advance through this tournament, especially Mojang.

Guess I'm just too mainstream to appreciate the little guy, but damn, I'm still surprised.

Mojang won people, DEAL WITH IT!

As for me? I'm not going to get mad over an internet popularity contest that matters very little, in fact...

And the Twatter/Facebork whore is victorious!
EA and Bioware were posting out to their nearly 5 times as many followers as well. On top of the fact that we encouraged all the developers to get in touch with their fans from the start.

I had Bioware going all the way, but I'm not getting bitter about it(in fact I plan on finally checking out Minecraft). So give them a nice pat on the back for a fight well fought and better luck next year.

As disappointing as it is hearing Mojang wins I wasn't surprised.
Oh well, I'm sure I'll have forgotten about Mojang by next year.

Argh, just missed making 100, had mojang lose in the first round to Nintendo, and that totally screwed me up.

Well done minecraft, its an awesome game and a unique way of creating a game, I just hope Mojang continues to make high quality games and respect their customers.

Woot lets all go into denial because a game developer won fair and literly square geez its not at valve bioware ect.. is going shut down and blow up.
lets try be civil and not get into a paddy over such minor things.

Unless valve IS going to shut down and blow up then we have some problems.

A lot of people sore over Valve, Nintendo, and Bioware getting hammered this year... Well my lovelies, it's all about timing, and this was perfectly timed for Mojang. Had Bioware just released Mass Effect 3 or had Valve just released Portal 2, then those two would have been in the final draw for certain against one another. However, Bioware's most recently release has met some very mixed reactions, while Minecraft is still sending people to rehab.

Besides... who doesn't love an underdog story? These small developers represent the future of gaming. While Valve is all over that market already, as I said before, timing. Congrats to Mojang.

The "not being finished" argument would make sense if you couldn't buy Minecraft yet and if it would not be open for public. But it is open, and you can buy it in advance.

Just because Minecraft is in beta, doesn't mean it is unplayable. It's very much playable and kicks ass.

Mojang did amazing things last year for indie gaming with very little manpower and budget.

It deserves the victory easily.

I seriously, totally, cannot believe Mojang won, basically ruined my bracket xD.

Ah well, Congrats are in order, Well done Notch + co.
Same here. The division with the least upsets for me was the Northern Division (I had Zynga losing in round 2 and Sqaure Enix in round 3). The rest of my bracket is in tatters.
