Damn, by just looking at the box art I'm seeing more "FPS" than "RPG", wrong signals maybe?

Ooooh! A game about space marines! We don't get nearly enough of these!

Will it have multiplayer deathmatch?
Hahahahaha! Spot on!

Yes, it looks worse than the original. Yes, I would be less likely to buy it if I didn't know the game's details. It looks like a scene pulled out from the game itself. I kinda expect those guys to start moving... Oh wait, I digress...

Edit:

Here's a REALLY bad one.

Or how about these two?

Now HERE is bad box art... seriously, no joke. Then again, nearly all of the Master System game boxes were like this.

Dammit man! Why did you have to bring the NES Mega Man box art up? Now I really feel like torturing you by pointing out this site. [http://www.gamewad.com/top-20-worst-video-game-covers-ever-3097-p.html]

What was wrong with the old box?

It was too good looking and they want everyone to buy the collector's edition [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/jump/7.156134.3835402] to get rid of the sucky art.

You are guessing that it will be another space opera, and not a thinskined space shooter with leveling... This might be the warning we have been looking for.

Can't judge a book by it's cover, but boy does that lemon-head drag attention to itself. o_O;

Shit I must get collector's edition or be eternally shamed. Also I guess I kind of understand the new format because KotOR, JE, and ME had incredibly simillar box art, but damn it this is the wrong direction.

Why does the box art matter? As long as the game is good, it doesn't matter right? I know several games with relatively lame looking boxes but played awesomely!

(Note: "Awesomely" isn't a word, even though it should be.)

They don't even look like the characters!
That chick isn't Ashley, it's the chick nobody remembers from ME: Galaxy. I'll grant that she's easier on the eyes than Ashley.

I was talking about Shepard.

So much of it really does hearken back to the old NES box art I remember seeing when I was a kid. Maybe they (whomever drafted and/or approved this) didn't think it made much difference since this game is already a hot item. Actually, It also reminds me of those old movie posters from the 80s, when generic sci-fi was all the rage. Anyone else remember Battle Beyond the Stars or Damnation Alley? Just me? Yeah... kinda figured as much.

Who the fuck buys games because they have cool cover art? o.o
That being said, if a game looked 'interesting' I'd look into it on the internet, if it looked like a generic cliche then I'd look the other way. Even then though, I don't think I've ever bought a game because the cover art caught my eye, and when I do buy my games it's generally because I hear about them on the internet

Somewhat appropriate sarcasm, as Shep is, literally a Marine in space.
He just also happens to be the CO of a warship.
Combining these two facts confuses me. Why is a Marine in charge of a Naval vessel? Why does said skipper of said naval vessel actually go out to get shot at, himself? Shouldn't he be in the big chair sending little Private Jenkinses to go get shot at?

That being said, regular edition boxart, not very good. CE is very nice.
