I will agree... It's not terrible, it just leaves you with the feeling it's automatically printed from the game cover printed... well game printer as there are a lot of the same FPS games with some slightly different graphics. Well, you shouldn't judge a game by it covers.

oh my god so much bitching about this box-art. I'll be happy to see the game disc in a cartboard box as long as the game is good.

My stance on this boxart here is rather simple.

This looks good enough for a game to find in the bargain bin.

Yes, I would deffo buy that for 15-20 bucks, but as generic as that one looks (and I DO like generic games, mind you. I DID have some fun with Haze and Soldier of Fortune - Payback) I really wouldn't bother with it if I saw it in the retailer shelves either.

I guess that many here would think the simmilar way, but I just hope that there is some alternative design for later re-releases or this was just a rushed out production lane for some odd reason, because the game itself surely deserves better.

Drew Struzan, anyone?

It does look pretty plain for some reason. But I'm sure there are much worse ones out there. (And yes that Megaman one is disgusting)

The box art isn't THAT bad, I think someone is just looking for something to complain about...

After all, as the saying goes - don't judge a book by it's cover; or in this case, a video game.

Why does everyone assume that Commander Shepard should be a male to begin with? I played through Mass Effect 1 twice, once as a dark-skinned redhead girl and the other time as a light-skinned blonde girl.

If I want to play a male with different varieties of "grizzliness" I'll just go get Uncharted 2 or something.

Ooooh! A game about space marines! We don't get nearly enough of these!

Will it have multiplayer deathmatch?
You have no idea about this game do you?

I've seen worse.
The days of great game cover artwork is long since gone anyway, and will probably never return, since the guy who painted the Doom artwork died last month.
Except for Borderlands and Mirror's Edge there has barely been any interesting cover art at all made in the last decade or so, just about everything has been that generic stuff, and I can't say the ME2 artwork looks any worse or better than average.

The box-art makes the game look like a sub-par futuristic 1st or 3rd person shooter. Thankfully it won't be

My god how long has this bin up? well I guess it is a bit plain and overly revealing for a game that allows visual customization of your character, though I do like the better detail in the weapons and equipment, it adds a good sense of advancement from the other game where their was allot of plain solid colors and textures.

THAT is the box art? It looks like the movie poster for a cheap Bond-knockoff film!

Come on, Bioware, you can do better than that!

This box art will attract a whole new group of players. And they will complain about the lack of Capture the Flag.

generic is the proper word for this; generic as in just another sci-fi shooter, as in just another game, as in not worth the 50(?) bucks, as in don't buy me i'm boring because there is no other content that could be visualized on the cover

but
since we all know that ME is great, and ME" most likely will be great too, it's not going to stop us from buying. if it doen't have some shitty DRM, that is.

No, you are right, that cover really is awful.

First the utterly awful Dragon Age trailers, then the equally awful Dragon Age Journeys ones (which made it look like a 2D sidescroller action game rather than a Heroes of Might and Magic style turnbased strategy game). Then the pretty mediocre ME2 trailers (game might be good, I didn't like the trailers) and now these covers. The first one (with the Barbarella pose and spandex suit on the woman) was horrible, this one is only marginally better.

Can someone PLEASE FIRE THE MARKETING PEOPLE ON EA RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL THE BIOWARE PR DISASTERS! PLEASE!! Bioware are one of the few companies still making complex RPGs for an older audience, and they keep trying to market their stuff as if they were all action games aimed at 14 year old boys who only like Gears of War and Halo!

"If the only thing people can complain about is the box art, the game must be pretty solid."

Well, the game isn't out yet, so we can't comment on how it plays, can we?
