its too in your face. The characters seem to be trying to hog as much of the cover as possible and the depth is off... if they wanted to do SWAT style gritty action they could at least have put some emotion on the characters face. right now the characters look like they are bored... but if it was a brown paper sack with "Mass Effect 2" written by a 4 year old I'd still buy it.

If that is Commander Shepherd on the cover, then they should fire their artists immediately. Because the point of the game is to create your own story, so it is extremely counter-intuitive.
Although, it does grasp the blandness of the original game at least...
Hmm...*looks at the box art on Mass Effect 1* I do believe I see Commander Shepard at front and center.
yes it is Shepard but his face is a bit obscured by the glowy text background, and the picture is rather small compared to this box so it doesn't really make his face the focus point instead your eyes are drawn beyond his face at the glyphs behind him, causing you to not concentrate on the distinct facial features but instead on the figure as a whole. on the ME2 box it says "this is shepard! He's supposed to look like this!"
Although looking at the box for Mass Effect I remember how much it reminds me of every other generic movie poster... at least they have the female lead portrayed in a much more provocative position which serves to accentuate her curves, Were as the other one almost obscures her boobies. Thus based upon man logic, the first is superior because the female looks better.
