So let me translate all that into English for the rest of us

Microsoft Addresses Xbox One Concerns
English - Microsoft tells you to shut up and it will tell you how its going to be, now give us your moneys.

Every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection, you mean
English - Every Xbox One owner WILL HAVE TO HAVE a [high end] broadband connection.

Game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers." It's up to third-party publishers to make the call
English - that Game Publishers can use their abusive DRM policies now on Console game titles.

developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you're not playing
English - MMORPG

Privacy options control what your Kinect sees and hears, and if you don't want it on, just say "Xbox off."
English - The Kinect is on 24/7, your privacy means nothing because you got to say "Xbox ON" via the Kinect to turn it back on. Meaning you got to unplug the Xbox One so it will be actually OFF.

but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies.
English - Microsoft has no idea what a TV actually does.

Sony I hope you are taking notes.

Yep, paying for Xbox Live to play multiplayer will still be a thing.
So we have to pay 60 dollars to play online on an always online console. ?.. I dont want to live on this planet anymore

I once said it would have have the greatest games to make me buy one, but I couldn't either way (Plus I'm sure those games will come to PC eventually anyway). I really can't support this no matter what, mainly because I'm forced to look up on whats good and whats shit all the time, it really sickens me. I can't 'breathe easy' knowing that the option even exists for spying on us. The whole thing is fucking ridiculous. Are we paying for that crap as well?

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

All those 'Games are evil and make people do violent acts' people are wrong. It's Microsoft that has for the first time in my life seriously made me consider how to get away with murder in the case of whoever pitched the fucking idea for the Xbone.

The more I see from these twats the more they seem like a once brilliant but aging relative who has reached the stage of senility where they've started to wear their underpants on the outside of their clothing, and believe the garden gnomes are stealing their spoons.

So we have access to our games until Microsoft turns off the servers some day and then the thing becomes a glorified media player and the games you bough vanish into the ether. I don't understand why anyone would buy this.
The only people who will buy this in their right mind will be those who are uninformed about its "features." I don't know about you, but I'm wondering what the reaction is gonna be when the Xbox One comes out.

Oh Gods... I didn't even THINK about this...

You may be right, Microsoft... every X-bone owner WILL have broadband... but the frequent monopolies and limited choices of broadband providers often means a shitty connection even in a major city...

I dare not think about rural communities.

Granted this was never an issue for me, since I never had even an inkling of desire for the damned thing... I just came to watch the train wreck...

On a side note... thank the gods I no longer have Comcast... sure I only get 15 megs as opposed to 25... but it's a consistent 15 rather than the sporadic 25...

Did I mention I live in Houston? You know... a major city?

Still a bit over $1000 dollars and it doesn't require a 24 hour online checkup.

"Microsoft added "because every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection, developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you?re not playing."" --This confirms that MS is targeting the well off for their new console. Those of you who don't have broadband internet, sorry, you're out of luck and can't get one. Unless, of course, you just want to watch TV or play Blue-ray or DVDs...you know, if you don't already have a normal cable box or a DVD or Blue-ray player *cough cough* ps3 *cough*

On a good note, the Xbone Kinect won't send your data out unless you let it (so they say) but it will be watching you....always....so no fapping!

And on the used game market: ?We designed Xbox One so game publishers can enable you to trade in your games at participating retailers. Microsoft does not charge a platform fee to retailers, publishers, or consumers for enabling transfer of these games.?

BUT!!!

" Third party publishers may opt in or out of supporting game resale and may set up business terms or transfer fees with retailers. Microsoft does not receive any compensation as part of this. In addition, third party publishers can enable you to give games to friends." --- Which means while Microsoft may not **** you if you want to buy a used game, a publisher (EA, UBISOFT, I'm looking at you guys) can flat out refuse to let you play it period or charge you a fee on top of whatever a store charged you. That is, unless you are a family member or friend for 30 days or a sperm donator or someone's pimp (or whatever their convoluted system is), then it's OK to share your game...or console....or friends console....or whatever....I think.

Thank you Microsoft for clarifying things. I feel a little better about it. I'm still not gonna buy one. And I'm going to recommend to anyone I know not to bother with it either. Why? Far too little and far too late.

I've never had any of the xboxes, mainly because I really don't like the controllers, but I was sort of hoping this one would be the turning point. The way things are going, I'm not likely to ever buy a console again :/

Maybe there'll be enough like-minded people, so that we'll start seeing a growth in the PC market again. That would be nice.

Until Windows 9 or whatever, screws us all over with their Orwellian tactics.
Microsoft is kinda over, Windows 8 is a chimera of bureaucratic desperation making a grab at as many new tech markets as possible, and it failed specifically because of that. Just like Microsoft failed to release Vista before OS X Tiger even though they had a four year lead, just like they failed to release an E-reader before Sony in 2004 even though they had a six year lead and just like Windows CE in 1996 should have led to the development of a Windows based cell phone a lot sooner than the Apple developed Iphone in 2010.

Microsoft has passed up so many good ideas that all they have left is Orwellian tactics! Which is why I think I'm going skip Windows 8&9 in favor of Linux, GabeN has the right idea.

You know what, personally, I can live with this.

I know plenty of people won't be, and they definitely have good reasons for that, but my guess is that most of the problems that people will have with it won't affect me personally.

I know it might sound rather arrogant to say that, but I don't mean it to be, honestly.

Now all I personally need to know is what kind of games are coming out for it.
Kind of this.

Now that I am aware of what works and what doesn't. I can kinda go along with this. But I am not convinced on buying an Xbox One yet.

I need good games before I pick it up.

So, in short, the XBox One will require a broadband connection largely so that its owners the people who have paid a licensing fee for the hardware can participate in an enormous game of "Mother, May I" in which most of the participants are corporations with both ability and incentive to say "no" at will.

Glad we cleared that up; some people were under the misapprehension that they would be buying a game console.

It is not arrogant, it is just the kind of attitude MS is counting on. People that don't care if their right as consumers go backwards because they are not too much inconvenienced.

Or people that will subject to inconvenience if the games are good.

That's fair, I guess, but somewhat sad at the same time.
I concur, which is why, despite my preference for the Xbox controller and long history with the 360, it's increasingly likely that I'm not going to go anywhere near the Xbone. Sure, I don't lend games to friends more than once. Sure, I buy most of my games new. Sure, I'm usually online. Sure, I don't present any info to the kinect that I'm concerned about. But it's possible that I might get cut off from the internet for some reason, that once cloud support is discontinued, games might cease to work, that Microsoft might introduce some new and exciting bullshit. And to reward them as a company for doing this just encourages it from them and others in the future, and it's ridiculous.

All I see are negatives that probably won't affect me, but I don't see ANY positives. At all. Add to that Sony's superior track record with exclusives, and the fact that the Kinect is going to make the Xbone more Xpensive than the PS4, and unless E3 changes my mind, farewell Microsoft.
I couldn't agree more.

People, as consumers, need to understand that something that you can do is a feature, but something that you must do is a limitation. We are simply seeing the most limited console ever. A number of things can go wrong and buying an Xbone is putting a tremendous amount of faith and power in the hands of Microsoft.

Microsoft is putting the weight of their problems (used games, piracy, need to control, advertising revenue and so on) on the shoulders of the consumers. Every time I see someone going with it I die a little.

What really frightens me is that Microsoft dares to shaft its costumers to this extent, in a situation where they have 2 competitors. I feel sorry for xbox fans.

But imagine if they had a monopoly? God, the Terms of agreement would probably include lifetime slavery in Microsoft's service.

I think South Park had that in mind already with this

These days nothing coming from Microsoft has made any real sense, pretty much every product that's come from them since Ballmer has taken over has fallen flat on it's face.

Maybe there is a secret pact between EA and M$ that M$ will make it's best effort to win the golden poo so that EA doesn't get the hat trick?

The part that saddens me the most is I know many people who ignore these features in real life and are still spazzing out in excitment to spent $600+ to preorder the Xbone. Get enough of these people and Microsoft will not see a dent in their profits and continue on their merry way cutting things down more and more as the console generations continue.

I hope people are actively informing their friends about these turn of events. As much as I loved the Xbox and Xbox 360 (I will always defend these consoles), I cannot see myself even putting down a few dollars for the Xbone. Glad I finally got my first gaming desktop a month ago and am currently learning how to upgrade it. My gaming money will go there instead. I just wish I could get access to the rest of the Halo franchise that I really like.

Major Nelson confirms that your Xbox One console will have to connect to the internet once every 24 hours.

Now for some bad news [http://news.xbox.com/2013/06/connected]:

"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you are logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch live TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies."

The rumors are true: you must connect once a day in order to play your games. That you bought. What about gamers without that capability? They don't exist. "Every Xbox One owner has a broadband connection," Major Nelson writes, and because of this, "developers can create massive, persistent worlds that evolve even when you're not playing." Being always online and ready to go will probably have some benefits, but it's hard to say if that outweighs alienating anyone who doesn't want to--or can't--connect to the internet once a day, every day.
what a load of tosh... half the people i know work off shore and take consoles with them for downtime they don't get a net connection when they want, hell even in my job i can be on site for days/weeks at a time without a net connection the one joy i do get is taking my ps3/xbox with me to game on the downtime this kind of beats that round the head!

I actually don't know how they've failed so badly. This, along with Windows 8 just tells me Microsoft have completely lost it. Why is there RULES for a game console?!?!
I expect they won't be selling used games in shops anymore, so no more cheap games.
Why can't you just play the damn game you bought, lend it to your friend and let them play it? How do they manage to cock up so badly!?

I can see this becoming a huge fail but I'm sure they'll at one point stop making games for the 360 which makes it worse.
