Minecraft Endermen: Good Idea?

My addition of a giant assed forest bordering my Manor house and Dwarven Stronghold will make for good hunting and an interesting night.

firing ports, retreat to the wall, release the hounds(i have 7 wolves guarding my manor house) and draw the sword when it comes. First night that patch goes out my manor house will be covered in thick clouds of powder smoke(minegunner bitches).


Provided he won;t tear down cobblestone, wood, fences, cotton(my manor house is made of wool for color) or burrow i am OK with him. I will fight them at the wall, in the courtyards, at my tree(that is MY giant tree(my tree)) and eventually from inside the manor house. Course i may need to make it out of brick if Notch allows the fuck to pull up wool. Course i hope he is single spawn/low spawn rate. I don't want a dozen of these guys mucking about the walls.

I got a chest full of arrows, powder, shots, pistols, swords, picks, shovels, axes, armor, 4 walls separated by courtyards, fire traps, a lighter, and a pack of wools. BRING IT RIGHT HE FUCK ON *****! BRING IT ONNN! I have an armory at my disposal, a pack of wolves at my side, the blood of the Empire, the will of the Dwarves, AND BALLS OF OBSIDIAN SO BRING IT ON! COME AT ME BRO! FOR I FEAR NO CREEPERS AT THE GATE, SPIDERS ON THE WALL, or skeletons firing over the defenses; NOR DO I FEAR YE ENDERMAN! My weapons may not be holy but i am your god. Death will be swift for you and may Israphel send more of his fodder to my door step. For i will journey into Kalbrad forest(the forest i made that is so thick light cannot touch the grass) , i will hunt on of your number down, i will walk up to him, stare him right in the eye and shoot him in the chest. For i fear nothing while i may fight; while i still have breath i will defend my land.

Which, you may note if you look at his Twitter feed, came before the announcement of their mechanics. This implies that the reason it has features of mobs from other games is because the people who saw it thought it should act like them. Even the name Enderman arose because of how many people linked it to the Slenderman when Notch posted a picture of it. This is a very crowd-sourced mob, and I myself am very much looking forward to it.

He should balance it out by making them die instantly in highly lit areas. Would kind of fit too since they basically look like shadows.

I think this is fantastic. The current mobs seem a little old now, but this is creepy as hell.

This will be great! i've gotten too familiar with the existing mobs to be scared by them anymore. The Endermen will give me a new reason to be tense at night!

Edit: The new mob also reminds me of the Librarian from Metro 2033. If you keep looking it in the eyes, it won't attack you.

I think the mob is completely unfair. You look at it and that instantly triggers it's attack phase? And it can teleport? Unless the mob goes down in one hit with any type of weapon, it's insanely unfair. However, it might work if the mob appears only every 15-30 Minecraft nights.

excuse my double post but, that kinda the point. Its unfair that an enemy teleport,but not that it dies in one hit? Also its your fault for starting it, it will only attack if the cursor is over it, and it will die in one hit because it to scare people. BTW i think now would be a good time to get a gun mod...with bullets i mean lots and lots of bullet.

Holy shit. I was just playing Minecraft now, and I still get scared running back to my house, knowing there might be something behind me when it turns dark. I've mentioned this before, but I hate it when I am getting chased by things, I freak out. Especially when you know you can't look back. As I was reading through Notch's blog, it felt like he had reached into my mind, picked out my fear of being chased by things that are very fast and my knowledge of Slenderman, then just put it into a game in which I am already quite tense, just to say a big fuck you straight to my face.

Damn you Notch, and I mean it this time, this new mob is going to be in my nightmares, and it is now going to be incredibly hard to play Minecraft calmly again,without turning it to peaceful.

You should play Amnesia...

OT: I quite like it. I don't feel they're going to be quite as destructive as some people are imagining. I figure they'll only be able to pick up T1 blocks (those that still drop when destroyed by hand) or that they'll only be able to pick up one block, then they can't drop it unless maybe you hit them or something.

like you just walk into a village at night and you see is the villagers being taking away by enderman and you stare at one and all you hear is assuming direct control

I've always played on peaceful, but these guys sound pretty interesting. I think we can be friends, Endermen, provided you don't go around taking apart my world.

Probably none to increase the creepyness. Maybe a heavy, yet silent breathing.
And static and ambient noise would probably make it even more creepy.

Do you know what'd make it scarier? If there was a 50/50 chance of, when looking at an Enderman, he will either kill you, or give you a cake.

Honestly... that seems a bit unfair. And the fact it can hold blocks makes me worry it'll be able to just deconstruct your buildings for the hell of it, otherwise holding blocks would seem pointless. I just hope he adds the option to turn off individual mobs with the update. Plus, having this would make having windows in your house or building not worth it due to danger. So basically... bleh.

He said that they'd "move blocks around", and I'm guessing they'll stick to sand, gravel and maybe dirt (they don't have any tools). Your stone base would be safe.

I... hope.

I doubt it. It sounds like they can simply pick them up instead of having to destroy them, so that would mean they can just grab them and walk away while you cry gently to yourself.

I really highly doubt they will be able to pick up every block within the game since it would just make you stay up at night defeating the whole point of the bed and sleeping in minecraft along with the point of solid block objects such as stone.
