I think that calling 911 is a great extreme, but how desperate would that mother be to have to call that? I mean i can see where she's coming from, there is no point in wasting your life...

That kid had better watch out his mother has got the support of her church and we know what happens when they start a crusade

Is it wrong that I read that and though, "well that explains everything"?
If so, then I'm very wrong too...

Well, call god the next time, he'll be as useful in fixing the underlying problem as the police was.

Maybe some anti-neurotic medicine for the mother, or get social services to take away the boy from a mother so frustrated and powerless that she goes to such extremes.

Someone obviously doesn't know how to be a parent. Can she not just take the PlayStation away? And how did he even get Grand Theft Auto? And couldn't she just take that away? Ugh...

Exactly! She said she disapproved of it anyway, why did she let her kid play it? Puberty must have hit this kid like a ton of bricks if he can get 18 games at 14... unless SOMEONE got it for them...

wow this remindes me of the time the mum called because of her kid not going to bed, so I guess now its ok to call the police to displine and rise your kids for you right?

I personally support minor child abuse. A little love tap (not that way) should be perfectly acceptable.

Sigh... should have expected all the inevitable religion-bashing on this one. Yet another case where someone of exceptional stupidity makes everyone look bad. Seriously guys, stop the blindly ignorant religion-hate and look around.

OT: Yeah, this woman is a moron. The kid's kind of a prick too, really. This whole situation is just screwed up.

I feel like there's something we're missing from this story, I mean you've got to be pretty strung out to call the cops over something like this. Either she's out there, or the kid is such a disrespectful shit that she felt she had to call the cops.

I mean a lot of people are saying that she could just take the console and throw it out, but I can't imagine that she had not thought of that, but something made her NOT do that. Maybe the kid is violent or threatening.

In all honesty it baffles the mind the police did not chastise her for such a colossal waste of their time. Your inability to parent is not the responsibilities of the police force. Ironically she seeks respect from her son and this debacle has most certainly decimated all hope of such a possibility.
This was said 6 Pages ago.

Obviously the Police didn't chastise her and the 911 operator thought the situation was worthy enough to send the police and people STILL think this was about the Video Games?

On a completely unrelated note I understand your bashing of religion and forgive you.

You have clearly misquoted considering I made no statement upon my religious state one way or another. I admittedly believe the comment was intended to bolster favor, thus entirely unnecessary.

Nevertheless, you are correct and I offer congratulations for stating precisely what was already well apparent, hence my astonishment that they did not. Whether or not the police were sent is irrelevant to the aspect this mother wasted valuable time of those officers for a trivial matter. You are simply speculating in a falsified attempt to establish additional information which was not presented. The article makes no insinuation beyond this woman's son was disobeying her, perhaps more frequently and she believed calling the police was wise decision.

Thus we interpret only what is provided, which is absolutely ridiculous. If every parent performed parenting in a similar manner, one cannot even fathom the chaotic environment. You do not phone the police due to a misbehaving child. If you cannot properly discipline your own children, you should not have them; however allow us to avoid opening Paradox's box and leave that discussion for another time.

Edit: She is fortunate because there exist numerous cases where the police would have been angry with her. Who knows, perhaps they were and such was recanted from the story. Of course such be mere speculation upon my side.

I thought the same.

This woman is... wow. She could have stopped at unplugging the console, they may have been enough. At the very least, take it away for a while. If he persisted, ground him. If he got lippy, slap him. Parents are too afraid to hit their kids in a disciplinary manner anymore. Child abuse is fucked up but kids need to get cracked in the behind every now and then when they act up.

Someone hasn't been stern enough as a parent leading up to this point.

If she can't get her own son to stop playing. Then she's a poor mother.

Really, you suck!

If she doesn't approve of the game then why doesn't she does take it away? And why did she let her son get it in the first place?

The answer to both those questions is: Bad Parenting!
