Next Fallout: Ideas?

Ok as this is going to be on a late page no-one will probably read it but anyway.

As Australia (according to Yahtzee) will be the one place that doesn't get bombed. Why not have them Aussies (done with AUSTRALIAN voice actors) go to the west coast in an effort to 'help' the population. Then there could be suspicion and conspiracy etc.

Why not seems like a good idea. Then you could also have it in sections of Asia pacific in areas under Australian control (part of the conspiracy). So many possibilities.

I liked most of it, except for the weapons. I feel the weapons of New Vegas seem to just be upgrades of the last one, but as Gears of War reminds me Variety is the spice of death. I like a large array of armaments. I also like the idea of crafting mods and repairing without a second weapon, but I also believe that the repairng without a weapon thing should merely be a quick fix and it isn't too unfathomable to find manufactured weapon mods. Other than that, I liked it!

Problem is it's a looong boat ride from Australia to the US west coats, plus the closest areas they would land would be the LA area and California which has already been featured in F1 and 2. Not to mention the west coast doesn't really need any help after the events of F1/2, the NCR seem to have the place under control.

Oh and there's a chance that Africa has been untouched by the wars of the Fallout universe, so Australia isn't the only place that hasn't been bombed, along with South America, but they wouldn't make great locations for a Fallout game.

Likewise is Bioshock Infinity an oxymoron because it's not underwater? And even if it is, does it matter?

I'm not saying it's a bad idea - it's just that one of the core themes of every Fallout is the satire of 1950s Americana - in both aesthetics and the attitudes of the characters.

Yeah, pretty much this. I'm not opposed to the idea of a Fallout game outside of America, it's just that at that point why not just ditch the Fallout tag altogether and go for a new IP.

On your first point. THe military would not have to necessarily embark from Newcastle. My idea was simply to place external politics into the universe. Also as the NCR is so corrupt the Australians could decide Ceaser's Legion be more fitting to lead (just look at the immigration policy at present. I wouldn't put it past them).

Africa is not really affected in any serious way true. Same with the middle east. So maybe there could be a power struggle between all the separate Countries/regions and the NCR get caught in the middle?

My idea was simply to have a more global game.
Could be what the mmo will do...

The Enclave have been blown up 3...fucking...times!

They're done, finished, kaput, gone, extinct, only remnants remain, and those remnants were in Fallout: New Vegas.

How about instead of reusing old factions we make new ones?

Twice. They were the main-enemy only in Fallout 2 and 3. The Remants appear in NV. They had NO appearance or even mention in Fallout 1.

The Enclave get blown up twice in Fallout 3.

First time is Raven Rock, second time is the Mobile Base.

Also to be even more specific you could conisder Liberty Prime's rampage as a total massacre, even the attack on the Satellite Relay Station was a major blow.

I dont count a DLC as a stand-alone Game. Its merely the same Game at this Point. Just because you blow up two Bases does not make it any more meaningful, especially considering that only the Mobile Crawler thing got hit by a Nuke.

And no Liberty Prime doesnt count, thats Bethesda doing "You know what? lets put optimus prime in there, but rename him and make him throw nukes and shit". At least thats what i think they were thinking. Or they were stoned as they made that part.

Raven Rock is entirely optional. You do not have to "kill" Eden, the Brotherhood does it later anyway. Which just proves how inferior the Enclave is when the Brotherhood, who was in F2 literally afraid of them and their massively advanced Technology (and mind you, they had all T51b not the T45d) and now the Brotherhood is capable of destroying their Mainbase AND a mobile Crawler? Really? Sorry, but Deus Ex Machine and Clean Water do not make up for inferior Numbers, inferior Training and inferior Equipment. The Enclave was still big enough to scare the Brotherhood at the time of F3.

And as i stated before, the Enclave in F3 is a joke to begin with. Get Fallout 2 with the Restoration Patch, go to Gecko, play with the Intercom, get bumraped by Enclave Vertibird Assault Squad. Or alternatively, try to take on Navarro. So yeah, F3 was phoned in anyway so im not counting their 2 bases being blown up, once in a DLC no less ;P

Oh I agree with your point you just made, Bethesda were stoned while making most of Fallout 3 and the Enclave shouldn't have been in F3 along with the BoS.

I just think that the Enclave shouldn't return because they've already been featured enough, new factions should be introduced.

I would love to think that Fallout 3 never happened but sadly it did and it is sadly considered canon which means the Enclave did get blown up once again.

The Enclave shouldn't be a major part of the series anymore period. 2 games they have been featured in, that's enough. If they have a extremely minor involvment like in New Vegas that's fine but I really wouldn't like to have either Super Mutants or the Enclave as the main antagonists for the next game.

To my fortune, most of the things I want can be implemented by mods (All hail to the Pc-Fallout-community)...

But If you ask, what I want from the officials: Something outside of America, the Main part of the game should stay in the states, but I really would want to see how the rest of the world looks like. If not as part of the original game, DlC would be enough for the better known cities around the world.

Still a sort of "mass expansion" of the remaining civilisations would be fun to watch.

How about Australia ^_^ it far away enough from other countries that it wouldn't be destroyed in the nuclear bombings but close enough to get irradiated.And think about all the new and interesting creatures and places!

The problem with Australia is that it would probably just end up being Mad Max: The Game, with mutants.

Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it just wouldn't be Fallout.

Personally I would just like Australia to be mentioned by someone or at least a newspaper article found in game that says something about Australia.

I don't know what mad Max is (a movie?)so i can't really comment on that . That being said i totally agree about the Australia references for the next game seeing as how Australia is not seen much in games and the fact that i have really crazy patriotic pride for my home ^_^.

Capitol Wasteland. It's an element of Fallout 3 that really increased the immersion and atmosphere the game, with the destroyed monuments and all. Perhaps as the Lone Wanderer's child?

The Capital Wasteland's story has been told, they should move on. Who knows whatever the new location is could be even more immersive, if you just do the same thing over and over again you'll never know.

OT: As much as a Fallout: London would be awesome, it just wouldn't be "Fallouty." There would be no BoS, (probably) no deathclaws, no Enclave, no FEV supermutants, no vaults etc. The list goes on. I'd like to see one that returns to Chicago and its environs, see how the Midwestern Brotherhood is getting along.

Theres no reason why vault tec couldn't have come across the channel 1950's London culture was heavily influence by American music and trends largely due to being allies in the war. Fev came from the vaults.

If I remember right the FEV came from The Mariposa Military Base. And Vault Tech didn't even manage to finish all of the American Vaults let alone make some in other countries. While it is not impossible it seems unlikely. That being said I wouldn't mind a separate spin-off series of Fallout taking place throughout Europe.

You don't absolutely need the vaults. There were areas not hit by bombs, still had some background radiation of course, but people survived.

You could also create a different company like vault tec in other countries.

I don't really care too much about where they go. Just remove all those damn bugs, write a decent story, some new weapons, and I'm good to go. A place with fewer sewers than Fallout 3 would be nice. That was my favorite difference between New Vegas and Fallout 3.

Although there are a few new elements I'd enjoy seeing. Maybe an opportunity to develop a romance with a companion, and have better character development with companions like Bioware does . . . where they actually make comments in your conversations with other NPC's. What about rain? It would be interesting if there was irradiated rain ever few weeks.
