I doubt its real, even for how badly the NK government is represented I don't think Kim would make such a serious threat over a film.

That being said it does make me interested in the idea of China or Russia to make a film about assassinating Obama, America wouldn't threaten war or anything but I'm sure you'd all have a little cry over it.

Show of hands: How many people actually think Kim Jong-Un actually runs his country? I've always just kind of seen him as a figurehead.

God bless American pro wrestling...

The idea of this film, journalists abusing their access, is an interesting idea for a movie but using a real world leader does seem incredibly poor judgement.

Captcha: ticked off - Well yeah, you would be.

They are not wrong about being angry, but the reaction is a bit disproportionate, probably because it is intended to the people within North Korea, and not to the rest of the world. A formal complain should have sufficed. Threatening about destruction because of a movie, when they do exactly the same (see this http://www.cracked.com/article_19329_the-5-craziest-childrens-cartoons-from-north-korea.html) speaks volumes about the insanity of their leaders.

Seriously?
N.K. is lucky we don't drone strike their two tanks.

Seeing as MOST of their people are STARVING, or close to it.
-Even those in their military.
Any 'act of war' they try will be quelled rather quickly.

This is the problem with theocracies.
The leaders start drinking their own Kool-Aid, and come off just as crazy as their brainwashed followers because of it.

Plot twist: The whole North Korea thing is a lie in a genius marketing scheme by Seth and James to promote their movie.
Wait, North Korea doesn't actually exist, because it was invented as marketing scheme by Rogan and Franco?

Haha touché! Yes I believe it's called the long con. Plans were put into motion 70 years ago by the powerful and influential Rogen-Franco families in anticipation for this - their crowning achievement stoner comedy to end all stoner comedies. One step closer to world domination.

Edit: So it's clear McCain is going after the wrong people

North Korea has the fourth largest standing army in the world, with just over 1 million active duty personnel. They also have something like 10 million reservists. North Korea also outnumbers the South on tanks 3:1, SPGs 8:1, and AA guns 10:1.

That's a lot of '0' score reviews on Metacritic.
Despite their numerical advantage, South Korea would still probably beat the crap out of North Korea, even if the U.S. didn't intervene. Remember, most of what North Korea has is from around the Korean War. Morale there is low, and the soldiers would be hungry. Basically, the South Koreans have such a huge technology and tactics advantage that the North Korean numbers end up not meaning much, and South Korea is such an economic powerhouse compared to NK that it wouldn't take long for them to ramp up production on more materiel.

How'd that million man army work out for Saddam in '91?

You missed the point of the post. It was a joke, making you think he was hyping up how dangerous NK's military is, then subverting expectations and implying the entire military would go to the trouble of giving the movie bad reviews on metacritic, then leaving it at that.

Please, beat your chest harder. I can't hear you over the roaring laughter.

The spokesperson can't even be bothered to give his name? Come on man. Now you're just a random internet troll and that means your threat is even less credible.

This seems too ridiculous to be true, especially since the threat is coming from a "unidentified spokesman". I'm sure that there will be articles in a few days showing that this is nonsense.
I tend to disbelieve any news from North Korea that is -not- too ridiculous to be true.

I don't see why they're so worried. Nobody in North Korea is going to know the movie exists anyway, considering that there are three TV sets in the entire country and Kim Jong Un owns all of them.
Actually incorrect [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_of_North_Korea#Television_and_radio]. There are TV sets available for DPKR's citizens but they are regulated, sealed and locked to receive only specific channels. It is a very effective propaganda tool, after all.

While I'm sure the treats are empty and meaningless I do find the premise of the film to be in poor taste. I wonder how the US would react if someone made a film wherein they assassinate Obama. I'm sure it wouldn't be received on a friendly note either.

Actually, I think I know what lil' lil' Kim's up to here. By a series of escalating outlandish acts, he's forcing North Korea to the front page of the news, thereby cementing it in our collective unconscious. This means more foreign aid for North Korea, and therefore, less threat of dissidence towards Kim Jr. Jr.'s regime.

Bizarrely, I can sort of respect that.

Seems appropriate.

But yeh, if NK do attack the US, the war won't last long xD The US will completely destroy them.
