It's been established that this game currently has lots of bugs. If that bothers you, just wait another month to get the game. I don't see the big deal.

This Argument is one part bullshit and one part true.

New Vegas is much bigger than fallout 3, in the sense of quests and interactive stuff. I haven't played for more than 20 hours and nearly not seen everything and it already has more than triple the amount of "real" quests than fallout 3. While fallout 3 had some major sidequests and a lot of hidden quests, New Vegas has a lot of real, fleshed out quests, where fallout 3 was just empty landscape. You can't bug that.

On the other hand many bugs present in New Vegas were also present in fallout 3 (So I am told, I played the game for said 20 hours and havn't had one bug).
I'm in the exact same position. I also had the same in fallout 3, not one major gamebreaking bug. Still, even though I'm lucky, it doesn't excuse some of the bugs people have been experiencing.

You know, this could be accepted, if there was the occasional AI bug, or maybe the physics spinning a ghoul to the moon, but the sheer number of problems seen, no. Oblivion was able to work so when it was released a couple of years ago, and of course Fallout 3 worked, and they had their share of bugs, but they weren't game breaking.

So who wants to have a most hated contest, Bobby Kotick, Jack Thompson, or Obsidian, who do you despise the most?
Quest items and people falling through the map breaking the game is not game breaking? 0-o
Huh, actually never saw that on fallout, saw it on Oblivion, thought it was just my dics scratches. But still Oblivion was the first run at a game of that caliber.

FO3 on the PC out of the box no patches is a mess.

Oblivion haz caliber? Its almost as bad as a shovel WII waggle game... well... the writing dose keep you half awake...
I'm not going to argue with your opinion of the game, Oblivion is not for everyone. But what I meant by caliber was the grand scale of the game. A giant map, many different NPC Ai working on their own. A huge living place to explore. Basically the type of game Obsidian complains is impossible to debug, even though it's been done twice, the second one basically being the same game as the one they produced.

How bout everyone quit your crying and grow up. If you can't handle some bugs in a game then don't play it. I wanna see these people who cry about the game try and design a game even a quarter the size of New Vegas and see how may bugs you have.
We paid them $60 so we wouldn't have to design our own damn game. Excuse me if expecting something I paid my hard earned money for should just fucking work is "crying." If I bought a car and one button on the stereo doesn't work, that's a bug. But when that car doesn't have a working parking break, the windows randomly roll themselves down, the car dies when put in 3rd gear, is missing half a seat, one blinker won't shut off, and the engine randomly catches fire, that's unacceptable.

Its just a case of a few people speaking louder than others. I've been playing this game since it came out and came across two bugs. One was the dog's eyes were off to the side and another one was this random mailbox thinking it was a Bloatfly and tried to attack me. Since the patch I have seen neither one.
A mail box? xD
That has made my evening good sir/madam.

The craziest thing that has happened to me so far was shooting someone's head off, only to fast travel there later to find the corpse has grown a new one... minus hair... or eyes. Freaked me out a fair bit.

OT:
10 hours in, only the above problem found. I'm happy with my purchase, and would be playing it right now if my bedroom wasn't around 0 degrees in temperature.

being a software tester myself i sypathise with obsidian, of course in a game as big as new vegas there will be gus that will not be spotted by testers, there are bugs in every game.

even if things are spotted sometimes there are more important issues to fix (i.e ones that break the game/affect gameplay)and hence the smaller bugs get pushed back and then deadlines hit and the product has to be pushed out the door even with slight bugs,

as long as they are aware of these and are fixing them obsidian are ok in my books

on a side note new vegas hasnt really bugged for me, nothing that affects gameplay anyhoo, just random funny things :D

[sub]Haven't actually encountered a bug yet, but you all seem content raging about it, so I'll keep quiet...[/sub]

OT: Bit of a... weak excuse, to be honest. Then again, big games like Oblivion and Red Dead Redemption all have their fair share of glitches. I guess there's some truth in their statement.

Oblivion. InFamous. Prototype. Saints Row 2. Many others. All big. All playable. Shitheads at Obsidian are inexcusable. We're not talking about some bugs, we're talking about completely broken game.
And Saints Row 2 wasn't a bug ridden mess at launch?

I do agree though that it is unnaceptable and I am not defending Fallout New Vegas. It is also annoying as I won't buy a game this bug ridden at launch and I certainly won't pay full price for a game after launch. Hopefully it will drop in price before xmas so my belligerence won't lead to me having to wait to long.

I'm not complaining at all (mainly because I encountered no bugs) but also because 1 or 2 bugs still doesn't take away the fact that this game is AWESOME!

Lets have a look at games of simmilar scope and size and patches and see how F:NV is stacking up

F3 for pc had 7 patches a few were just to incorporate the DLC's and was mainly tweaking balance and a few exploits. Fist patch was to fix alt tabbing and and alt f4 to exit but they are very easy to avoid.

Oblivion: 6 patches if Wika is to be believed a shed load of quest fixes balance again and exploits with only a few graphic card issues what didn't rear head for some time after release. No major game crashing fixes fist patch.

Dragon age: 5 patches same as above balancing and quest fixes (will let Obsidian with quests looking over these list but still,) but fist day problems a ATI graphics issue and a reminder for people to update their drivers.

NWN1 24 patches some only for the tool set but after patch 6th was merely adding more free content and making DM and PW creators jobs easier listening to suggestions (then fixing issues what poped up from them heh.)

So far we've had two patches from F:NV in less than a week will know doubt take 2 more to get get day one bugs ironed out but by then few patches left to iron out balance and quests. Then will be the rare bugs we always find after spending 100000 man hours between us what patches should be used to fix as were so rare and specific can't blame them for missing it. Not looking good however.

Saints Row 2.
Really? I didn't own it at release, I bought it later... so Saints Row 2 worked at release and got broken at some point after that, then?

(been playing for 16 hours btw)

I am starting to think that you and I are among the only people on this earth who are reasonably forgiving of how New Vegas was launched. It is a massive game, and there is no way they would be able to catch everything. Even with the bugs, the game is still quite playable and very enjoyable. I think people just need to calm down and not get so angry about every little thing. They should just enjoy the experience for what it is. :)

Obsidian + Bethesda = glitches out the ass. Don't get me wrong, they've made great games but goddamn do they have some pretty bad engines and glitches. Well good thing for patches I guess...

I've played PS3 version. Had no problems. Broken console version is inexcusable.
