Yeeeeeees, but when it comes to saving, a standard design element that is a core part of every game ever, YOU HAVE NO FUCKING EXCUSE, YOU FUCKING ASSHOLES.

You can't make a game that isn't broken, Obsidian.

END OF STORY.

So is Fallout 3. Dragon Age. World of Warcraft. Final Fantasy games before XIII.

Just because your game is big doesnt excuse releasing a shoddy product. EVER.

If you had to delay the game 2 months to fix the bugs, delay it 2 months. But dont make excuses for bugs. Expecially when one of the bugs occurs at the VERY beggining of the game.

Oblivion. InFamous. Prototype. Saints Row 2. Many others. All big. All playable. Shitheads at Obsidian are inexcusable. We're not talking about some bugs, we're talking about completely broken game.
Pretty much this.

I'd also like to point out that IIRC, this was Obsidian's exact same excuse for royally fucking up KOTOR II.

I liked Fallout New Vegas I haven't run into any game breaking bugs, sure I've fallen through some floors and have gotten stuck in walls, but that happened like once for every 6 hours of gameplay, and to be honest I had the same problem with Fallout 3, I'd send dogmeat to vault 101 and NEVER HEAR FROM HIM AGAIN, Fallout 3 wasn't perfect, I've fallen through my share of floor in Fallout AND Oblivion, play testers will never weed out every bottom-less rock and trapdoor in a map as large as Fallout's. Secondly the bugs are usually just luck of the draw, I can jump on the same rock 1000 times with nothing happening, only to get stuck on the 1001 jump. IMO you just get hung up on annoying bugs, at least this game doesn't delete your save like Castlevania! That plus they are going to be patching it soon, so quit bitching! GTA IV was a critical darling and it had it's share of odd glitches, such as this one...
Same for Red Dead

I am starting to think that you and I are among the only people on this earth who are reasonably forgiving of how New Vegas was launched. It is a massive game, and there is no way they would be able to catch everything. Even with the bugs, the game is still quite playable and very enjoyable. I think people just need to calm down and not get so angry about every little thing. They should just enjoy the experience for what it is. :)
I'm hurt, Rei. There are three people out there. :)

I have to wonder if the bugs were intended as a rather insidious form of copy protection, at least where the PC version is concerned. If you're playing a pirated version, you're not using Steam. That would probably make it one hell of a lot harder to get the patches.

If this was the case, though, I suppose the patches would have been ready on day one.

I have to be understanding at this. Infamous, Prototype, and Dragon Age, while all sandbox and large games yes, don't have the involvement with the background and city as Fallout does. WoW doesn't count because it's been 10 years or something and they release patches to fix bugs since they have a huge team working on that 24/7 I'm sure

But FO has you interacting with almost everything. Each place you enter, whether or not it's meant for a quest, has stuff you can pick up. There's trash litered everywhere that people always just ignore, but it has to be there. Ruined books liter the houses also, and there's so much there, including certain places that I'm guessing have random amounts of objects in it (such as desks and such) that you really can't fault them for something breaking down when the entire field has to deal with this.

Now there are bugs that yes, they should have fixed, but there is only so much they can do. And honestly, I've learned from this to save at certain points and keep auto-save on, means I get lucky if I accidentally die, and if I have to restart I didn't lose all that progress, just save every once in awhile like we should.

Yeah, they're just making excuses now. Doesnt explain why every other game they have put out has also been bug ridden.

Less diplomatic answer: "Because it's built on Bethesda tech. We're programmers, not miracle workers."

I haven't played New Vegas yet, but these bugs are excusable I think. If Fallout NV is even close to being as big as Fallout 3, then it's probably realistic to forecast that there will be bugs after the initial release of the game.

Bigger game (generally)= more coding= more chance for coding error= more chance for "bugs"

That would be my synopsis of why big games have more bugs
Problem is new vegas isnt bigger than 3.
And it uses almost all of the same textures and models that FO3 uses.
no excuse on this one.

No, it has bugs because it's Obsidian.

Seriously, do they have a game without crippling amounts of bugs? Fuck, they could probably even get people to pay to test it.

One question: Why all the Obsidian hate? The game is released 2 years after the previous game, which means work was probably not started on it until about a year and a half to a year ago (which is a quarter of the time it took to make Fallout 3). Do you expect it to be bug free? I find it amazing that they actually managed to have it content complete by this time.
They didn't have to create an engine, and they released a game with game crashing bugs that where easy to catch and where already discovered in Fallout 3 and patched.

Yes I am allowed to call their work shoddy for not correcting problems that where already discovered and corrected.

this would have never been accepted in the cartridge days and "would have resulted in a stomping from the company brontosaurus"

I love the game to death but how the hell do you not realize on PC all the graphical issues and slowdowns with groups of people on your screen. The PC community had to come up with a file to fix that problem instead of the people who actually built the game. I fixed the problem thanks to the community.

Hey everyone here's a question.
Have you ever done code for a game? and if so have you done it for a game as massive and complicated as New Vegas?
because unless you have than quit your bitching.

How bout everyone quit your crying and grow up. If you can't handle some bugs in a game then don't play it. I wanna see these people who cry about the game try and design a game even a quarter the size of New Vegas and see how may bugs you have.
Jesus Christ. That is the worst and weakest excuse ever.

"Oh, hey, try to do this yourself, even though it was made with a large team of people who've spent years studying doing this." Or just "Try to do this yourself, even though it was made by X with Y."

Next time you whip that one out to "try" to win an argument, please, for the good of all mankind, stop. Stop, and take a look at your hands. Think it over, and turn back. There will still be time.
