He said the same about Fable. We all know how that turned out. What's next? Comparing it to the wheel?

That was Sony's bad wasn't it, they said they have learned from their mistakes and they say that Microsoft are making all the same mistakes and think that just increasing the fidelity in the solution.

Well they would say that wouldn't they but do they have a point? Is Natal just "Eye Toy HD/3D"?

If he is even remotely right I'll eat a fucking table. I pity his kids, never kept a promise in his life.

I don't hate the man and there's nothing wrong with having some ambition but the man has the habit of promising the world and falling short.

This is starting to feel like an abusive relationship. He keeps promising to change but he never does, It's time to move on and meet someone nice, like Gabe Newell....

Sorry, I stopped reading after I saw the phrase "blow sunshine"

OT: I agree that natal could change videogames forever, in a good way.

Hey, if you want to hype a product, get the guy who genuinely believes with every ounce of his being in whatever he imagines.

Seriously, what's the huge difference between Natal and the Wii? That you are not holding a fucking piece of shit all the time? Ok, great, and...? OH MY GOD, WE CLEARLY NEED TO BE EASED INTO THIS WITH A COUPLE OF YEARS OF PROGRESSIVE GAMING INTEGRATION OR IT WILL BLOW OUR MINDS. I just don't get what is so ground breaking about it. Mr. Molyneux either thinks we are stupid or has a very unique definition of "revolutionary". For me, a fully VR console with physical feedback would be revolutionary (and cost a couple thousand $$, so it's not gonna happen any time soon). But Natal? Come on, who does he think he is talking to, 15 year old girls who are considering to start playing their first videogame? Hype puppet. Go away.

Listen closely, you can hear the hype generator being booted up as we type.

I hope Natal delivers.

1: So when people come round it provides a quick short lived entertaining experience that people like my parents can understand.

2: So my girlfriend stops banging on about me buying her a wii.

...Anyone?
Yes, though I personally prefer the Power Glove for the NES. I take out mine and smile at it whenever I hear about new, innovative motion-sensing technology.

I don't get the bullshit with bitching about Peter 'hyping'. He's putting time and money in this, ofcourse he's going to make it sound awesome. You don't hear McDonald's saying "The New Big Mac Wrap: It's edible!"
No, but you don't hear them saying it will cure cancer, get you a girlfriend, and find proof of extraterrestrial life while providing the best damn eating experience outside of heaven.

Several of Molyneux's more concrete claims have turned out to be flat-out lies (trees growing and an intelligent rival in Fable) and the rest of them have turned out to be shallow and rather underwhelming (see anything in Black and White, anything in Fable, anything later than that.) He has some interesting ideas (save for the heavily stylized good vs. evil he keeps coming back to IMO), but doesn't focus on them long enough to execute and integrate them well - they're mostly either cosmetic (marriage and other social interactions in Fable, good/evil in Black and White) or nuisances (jobs in Fable 2, gesture spellcasting and creature training in Black and White). His endorsement of Natal almost makes me think it'll be even worse upon release.
McDonald's advertising exaggerates regularly, but rarely claims more than "this is a tasty burger." Molyneux would claim "this burger weighs a full pound, is a fundamental revolution in the food industry due to the innovation of putting one pickle on the top, and is the tastiest thing in existence (until we come out with The New Big Mac Wrap 2.)"

Face, meet palm. C'mon Pete, if you hype this thing any more than you already have, you're going to have massive backlash when it comes out and doesn't equate to the second coming of Christ.

What interests me more than anything else is the potential for Natal to do more than just assist us in gaming. I recall during the E3 demo of Natal; seeing people use it to browse through their Netflix queue, etc. That is where I see Natal being the precursor to additional motion/voice control capabilities.

What if you could come home, sit in front of your TV, say "on" and your entire media center powers up? Make a simple motion and change the channel. Say off and it turns off. Walk in to/out of a room and the lights turn on/off? In the mood for a romantic light setting, use simple motion and voice commands to adjust it to your liking. The point is that this technology not only helps innovate the world of gaming, but ushers in a new era in device convergence.

I, for one, am convinced that many of Natal's detractors will be looking awfully silly once they see the things that this device will allow us to do!
