For some reason the scene in Gamer where the kid does the little wavy arm dance thing and guyman mc maincharacter does it too comes to mind.

"Peter Molyneux is nothing but opinionated and he offers his assessment of the new motion control system for the Xbox 360, which is due out this fall. "

Hahaha I thought it said - new motion control system for the Xbox 360, which is due to FAIL. "

Probably true though.

Farewell xbox. I will be upgrading my PC and steering clear of motion technology, thank you very much.
Pretty much agree with this, I built a high end PC a while ago to escape what I see as being the bullshit era of console gaming, so I'll just keep the gaming rig upto spec and not worry about much going on with consoles unless it's something I care about alot.

I've just done a 14hour shift at work... I don't wanna jump about with a wii nunchuck, i don't wanna dick about in front of motion sensors.... I wanna just blow the crap out of -insert random badguys-

Peter needs to realize he's the member of a very very small niche audience for liking this sort of thing.

Only Peter Molyneux can spew stupidities of that caliber. He never disappoints.
I'm not entirely convinced his argument is devoid of merit. Success in much of the computer market in general has not been found in the task at hand but rather how one interacts with the technology. Video games devoid of interactivity become nothing more than a movie - it is our interaction that makes the medium. Looking beyond all of this, the mouse made possible the GUI, itself a base requirement to making the computer a machine that most anyone can use without a great deal of training. While there may be the standard hyperbole here, his core assertion remains vaild - a new way to interface with a technology is often more important than the tech itself. Just look at a common example - digital media. The MP3 format allowed for high quality audio to be contained a relatively small package but the first several attempts at a device that leveraged this techology met limited commercial success. Eventually one platform reigned supreme and it was not because of superior technical mastery as competing products produced comperable performance at similar price points. Instead, success came as a result of an interface that was easy to understand and ultimately pleasing to simply interact with.

Natal may prove to be such a technology, but it is hardly the first attempt at using such an interface. It is certainly the most advanced slated for widespread release at a low enough price point that it could reasonbly become common, but success for the interface technology does not lie in the hands of the device itself. A mouse without a GUI is nothing more than an interesting gadget, and the Natal must similarly find a purpose or risk consumer indifference. Thus far, the device has been used as little more than an elaborate analog for a mouse or joystick and as such it offers nothing that makes me think it will be bigger than the mouse. Simply simulating an existing device is hardly a road to success. Without demonstrating a purpose of its own the Natal will never achieve a reputation beyond a gimick.

I have to admit, I'm sceptical about Fable 3 and even more so about Natal (I prefer a controller over flailing around like an idiot). But if he pulls this off well, then good for him.

Peter Molyneux is an excellent game developer.

Peter Molyneux needs to stop talking to the public.

Two true statements.

Well Peters optimistic, I'll give him that. Still if Natal really does revelutionize gaming that would be pretty cool. We probably won't have a choice with Natal, as they will probably force it upon us.

*takes a grain of salt out of a salt pot. Shoves the rest of the salt pot in his own mouth* Yeah Molyneux really gets way too enthusiastic about projects he's a part of, for some reason I can't hate him for that. Natal might be ok but really the only thing a console could get thats as big as the mouse was to a pc is a mouse in my opinion.

I liked Peter Molyneux. In fact, I fucking loved both Fable games.

But sorry Peter, I prefer the controller.

I also prefer a little less hype.

Yahtzee has said it, and I agree, with him. Without physical feedback, motion control is unimersive. Unless project Natal can create the holodeck from Star Trek, I'm not getting excited
