I used to like his vids a lot. But he just stopped being entertaining. His over the top reactions stopped being funny and became 'Urgh'-worthy.
I'm kinda happy I unsubbed him a while ago.

I've never really been a fan of Pewdie but he's doing what he loves to do and that's great. Hell I do Let's Play because I think they are fun to do and have wanted to do them for years. I oly just started them because I was able to get the money and equipment to do so.. Will I ever try to make money of of it? Maybe one day, but the main reason a lot of people do Let's Plays is to have fun. Plus if you don't like him then just don't watch him. I mean it seriously isn't that hard and doesn't hurt anyone. Now one thing I don't like are people who do LPs just to solely copy another person's style and try to make money of that. That just seems greedy to me and doesn't seem original at all.

Then there are some fans who will chastise anyone who does a game that a popular LPer has already done. A prime example is one of my friends, Munchie, who did the Walking Dead series a couple of months ago and started getting hate comments and down votes from people claiming he copied Pewdie even though Pewdie had just started a week earlier. But I digress, Pewdie enjoys making LPs and if you don't like him just don't watch him, it's as simple as that.

Oh, this thread has really made me depressed now. I mean this is mainly a "We hate X Let's Player." Like Storm I don't really like hating people, I just dislike them. Also, I should check out Something Awful as I keep hearing it get brought up. Might put some of my completed projects there.

I watched a bit of Pewdiepie's videos and let's plays. Actually liked him until he started to joke about rape then I lost interest.
I'm alright if the joke can be really pulled off, but even then rape jokes aren't funny and the way he jokes bout it... yea it doesn't fly with me. If you guys want to watch a hilarious Let's Play by the best guys around on youtube, watch Two Best Friends

My only knowledge of both Pewdie and Two Best Friends is from seeing them on Retsupurae.

I'm... probably not gonna take your advice and check out TBF. Think I'll just stick with Something Awful-based LPs...

Indeed. It's almost begging for more views. It certainly caught my attention.

Edit link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQncg-q9c7I for the people who couldn't see it.

Oh and the person acting like a harpie, Pewdiepie, has over 2 million subscribers (most are 12 year old kids) on his back...

...and use it to get cold hard cash...

...and he dropped university to make these videos.

Sleep well!

Wait! Who riffed these videos?
Those are retsupurae, a group specialising riffing (making fun of) bad Let's Players.

Composing of two Somethimg Awful members: slowbeef (THE inventor of Let's Plays), and Diabetus they both make bad let's players tremble in fear while some being honored for being "retsupuraed".

The top is the latest one and has gathered some rather storm to the pewdiepie community trying to justifing broken rape jokes for the thing he done good.

Also discuss other bad let's players that you don't like.

Note to self: think before you type and don't use a phone to start up a new topic.
So you don't like him because he screams and says rape ?

/facepalm .

Also as many have said don't like him don't watch it . This topic is full of hate .

Also compilation videos of the worsts things someone said is meaningless . If anyone where to compile all the terribles thing( and only the terrible things ) anyone has said , everyone , ever , will all look like assholes. I think you have a personal vendetta a guess this guy for existing. I think that makes you a worst person than he is .
I wish people would stop bringing up the "don't like it don't watch it" excuse. It's fun to hate things, especially stupid things. (and it relieves stress!)

I mean, do you go up to your friends when they're ripping on a movie they hate and go "ZOMG DONT LEIK IT DONT WATCH IT!!!1"
If so, you are quite the pooper :(
That movie example is TERRIBLE . First of all one you have to SEE the movie first to hate it , therfore saying " don't like it ,don't watch it " makes absolutely no sense in that context.

Secondly anyone that purposely watches or does ANYTHING they hate soley to hate on it is an idiot . Periode .

Thirdly , for some reason i apparently over estimate peoples intelligence . I swear the logical thing to do with something you dislike which is COMPLETLY avoidable is to , avoid it?

Lastly , taking pleasure in hating something just for the sake of hating seems kinda primitive to me . Sometimes i'd like to think that society and people have grown past such immature and trivial behavior . Then i go on the internet . I think the internet lowers the IQ of people by 50 points . Which they regain once they leave . It's the only explanation i got for the dumb stuff people say on the internet.
First point, I have to SEE pewdiepie first to hate him, the movie example works just fine. I've seen this idiot, and I hate him

Your second point could be answered with the following: AVGN and ZP.

Your third and fourth points are just blanket insults mixed with the same "dont like it dont watch it" drivel. If something is disgraceful to the human race, it should be called out for it's bullshit. Bonus points if done in a humorous way.

Now that video is probably taking just the "bad" stuff to show him in a poor light, but the amount that he seems to use just the word "rape" to (I assume) to get a laugh has put me off of him.

Anyway, I only watch LPs by people whose other content I've enjoyed before. For example, Yahtzee's LPs and Graham and Paul from LRR as well. It's served me well so far.

So wait, why is he being 'beaten to dust'? Because a bunch of people are playing some of his worst clips and snarkily going "Crime against humanity hurr"?

Right, have fun with the Escapist, I'll be off enjoying myself instead of 'beating to dust' people who make humorous video for a living.

EDIT: Redacted most of post, going to bed and I don't feel like coming back to see that I started a flame war.

Yeeeessss I don't like it so allll the people who do must be 12 or retards. Real adult approach.
To be honest, most of his fanbase is really underage. The reactions in the comment section are priceless (mostly the reason why this video was made. Big supporter of Retsupurae here)

I wouldn't mind if they didn't take a jab at him, but I won't say I'm unhappy they did. Pewdiepie managed to lower the bar even more when I thought that wasn't possible.

And yeah, we can ignore him. But I think it's also time to stand up a bit for quality, good taste and decency. I, for one, had enough that we always have to shut up because we want to voice some criticism and see some better content and better internet culture in general.

I personally don't like his videos but millions of others do so therefore he is successful.
A few hundred years ago, a lot of people believed the earth was flat. Didn't make them right.
Nothing wrong with making reasoned constructive criticism. Posting a simple hate topic? Well anyone can but its pretty pointless and not going to achieve anything.

Using the earth was flat analogy was kind of silly to me. The earth being flat had nothing to do with likes or dislikes and cant really apply to this discussion.

Oh noes! He makes money off of providing entertainment, he must be stopped!!
We must burn down the empire that he has built off of the dirty cash he has pried from his dead victims cold hands! Join me my brothers in the war against evil..The tyrant shall fall!

Don't understand why people think that if they make money they are evil. Then again, this is the Youtube community we are speaking of.. Don't like it then don't watch it. Even though they aren't the type of videos you enjoy others like it.
I think it's less that, and more him being the type of LPer that people who despise Let's Plays count as the majority of them.
I'm not sure what you mean there.

Seeing as he has nearly 2.5 million subscribers a lot of people enjoy him watching him, I personally don't but that doesn't mean he needs to be destroyed.
I was clarifying that it might be more that, and less "he makes money, thus, he's evil incarnate."

When I saw this the first time I laughed hysterically. I then proceeded to watch the comments section with interest and enjoyed the ongoing shitstorm. I was just refreshing to see new top comments and read more stupid comments.

I don't mind PewDiePie in small doses. He can be mildly entertaining sometimes when he's not randomly shouting about stuff, spinning the camera, or making a dead pig hump various things. By that point I start fast forwarding so I can get to someplace interesting.

I've done the odd LP and game recording and I'm shit at it. If so, I count myself lol. Mind you I do it for my friends (who love to see me suck at games) and I don't monetize them. Though one of my most popular series of videos is of me playing the Spyro games and commentating on how much I suck at a game most of us beat before the age of 10. They like it, so meh. Most of the comments are like "Aw man, I remember this. That guy ALWAYS kicked my ass when I was a kid" so if they get entertained by that then so be it.

I don't like this pewdie guy, but that retsupurae channel isn't very funny either.

But I'm not going to get mad if people like either, people can like whatever they want to like.

Anyone who talks during cutscenes. It's infuriating because I'm missing out on important details, especially when it's just pointless self-advertising or non-stop, pointless swearing.

That being said about annoying LP'ers, there are a few awesome ones out there.
It depends on if you're watching the Lets Play for entertainment or because you just want to experience the game without playing it. I watch TheSw1tchers LP's and they barely ever shut up for cutscenes, and I love it since they're really funny

You know, here's my two cents on it...

tl;dr PewDiePie was fine and never came off as someone worth giving a shit about. Then he went and bitched about people criticizing him and showed he is no more mature than the hundreds of thousands of 'content producers' on youtube who also respond with passive aggressive/hostile responses to any critique whatsoever.

Unfortunately, it's not the 'naive' lack of experience type response to criticism, it's the 'I'll do what I want and talk shit to who I want because I can' kind of response. He's not some tweenager recording their crappy audio tweaked cover of some popular song, he's an adult who passed on a proper education and is now profiting of that and his immature behavior. If he can't handled being criticized about that, then he should have gotten his shit together and made something better of his life.

But, if he really is making as much mad dosh as people are saying he is, it's not surprising whatsoever that he is behaving as such.

I don't think these Retsuprae guys are the end all be all gamers or LPers, because who died and made them kings? Not being mean, just saying I don't think they get to have the final say on everything, I didn't nominate them as presidents of Let's Play videos. However, calling PDP out like they did and then getting the response they did, they're kind of the lesser of two evils at the moment. They're guilty of some possibly immature behavior, but it's not as bad as the (as they said) have you cake and eat it too manner of responses that PDP has been giving.

tl;dr PDP and his 'bro army' have shown their level of immaturity through their hostile responses and spam invasions of various critics of his content. Therefore, they are stripped, at least IMO, of any right to claim the higher ground. They could have responded calmly and level headed to criticism and come off looking like the bigger man, but as many were expecting they handled it like a bunch of children.

PDP's going to get what's coming to him, because that's just how shit goes.

Slowbeef (the guy at the end of the video who says, "Well, there is that.") is credited along with Diabetus as codifying (if not outright creating) the entire Let's Play genre. Their videos on the Something Awful forums inspired an entire wave of imitators way back in 2006-2007. The entire genre can more or less be traced back to SB's playthrough of The Immortal, which was the first time anyone had used that name and that specific format.

When anyone criticizes Retsupurae for "daring" to take on popular LP'ers, they fail to remember (or just don't know) this. I agree with the rest of your points.

Ah, one of my favorite Let's Players alongside Tobuscus, Penguinz0, and Robbaz being criticized. I could respond to your, "stop liking things I don't like," with, "stop disliking things I like," but I'll accept that we have different tastes and move on. On another note, thanks for getting someone I like more publicity. Really shows what a classy guy you are.

I have never understood this 'hate' towards people making videos on the internet, whether they are let's players or else. And while I personally don't like PewDiePie's vidoes - for god sakes people. He's making videos on the internet, and you're acting like he's somehow trying to posses your soul and murder your entire family.

Have some distance. 'Hating' people on the internet is silly, even if you were a fan of this person and then he said that *gasp* he likes money, or started being un-funny, that doesn't mean you should swear a revenge in blood and dedicate your life to hunting him down, does it?

I personally prefer Cry(considering he's pretty much the only real let's player I watch)who is coincidentally PewDiePie's friend, and Cr1tikal. I consider them both pretty amusing, although with different styles. Also, I'll probably start watching a few channels brought up in this thread, since I've found a few worthwile ones.
