The new Zubat is almost certaintly a psychic/flying pokemon called Koromori. The pokemon site Serebii has information on all announced pokemon, so check it otu if you're interested.

Apparently, they're making lots of unique type combinations for this generation. I'm looking forward to using a Dark/Ground crocodile, and a Fire/Dragon is long overdue, so horray for that. It is a bit dissapointing that in the new desert region we won't be getting Cacnea or Trapinch, and it also means we'll be seeing a fair few more rock and ground pokemon, which are common types already. What we really need is more Fire, Ice and some not so fantastic Dragon pokemon. >.> And enough with the waters already!
Isn't Salamence Fire/Dragon?
no hes dragon-flying

Can someone explain the fascination of Pokemon to me? I've never understood what's so interesting about it.
You must never have played it as a young child.
When I was a young child, we only had this:

Impossible, nobody is that old, lol.

I'd have to say that the pokemon series is just going out of style. For all those little kids out there, fucking eh wonderful for them, but to those of us who were born in the age of the original versions, this is just more bullshit. It's about time for the games to stop being created and quit making more pokemon to add. The total number is probably easily over 1000 and the concepts of their design is just pathetic. They are starting to take real animals and just slap a suffix on them and call them an inventive pokemon.
Unless, of course, the franchise is designed for that age range, and not the people who were young when the first games came out.

two word: fuck off! I want my dratini, and my ludicolo, and my nidoking. just fuck off. I won't ever buy this obvious scam for increased playability.

This is a good way to bring in new players and also a good way to make current ones feel like they've been wasting their time, which they have. I played and enjoyed Pokemon Blue when it was released in North America those many years ago, then never touched Pokemon again. If it weren't for the fact that I don't own a DS, I think I'd buy it when it comes out here. I guess I'm looking for a modernized remake of the Blue with entirely new content.

Read the title and became very happy. Finally we don't have to go through every previous Pokemon game to catch all Pokemon.

Then I read the part were you'll be able to import Pokemon, which means that there will be a Pokedex that will include all Pokemon.

... fuck.
God-dammit! Could you stop ninja'ing me in every single thread I post in? Please?

This is upsetting. Partially because this means that I'll have to try for presumably more than 550 pokémon, but mostly because it stops me sending over my kick-ass team and/or favourite 'mons from previous games. I can't have a Riolu in my initial line-up? But it practically beat the elite four by itself when it evolved...

So wait, this means thats basically we won't be able to trade our old pokemon over, doesn't it? Just like the last generations, we're gonna have to wait till we beat the game and open up the palpark? Great...maybe I'll hold off getting the game until someone has a Shinx up from trade.

What? You mean I can go through a cave without seeing a zubat or a geodude? And I can surf without seeing a tentacool? And I can fish without landing a magikarp?

Rejoice!

But... I've always had a zubat in my party! I don't know what to replace it with, maybe that fluff ball in the top left corner. It has bat wings...

Wow, that's actually a good Idea. One of the things that kind of ruined Diamond and Pearl for me was the fact that like half my team sometimes almost all of them were from past generations. It makes you feel like you're not really experiencing anything new...

I'll be fine with the first playthrough of the game having only new Pokemon, but only as long as they're not using the same Archetypes that they recycle, such as The Pidgey, the Fire, Grass, Water starters, the elemental Legendary trio, The Insect type with three evolutions, etc.
oooooo awkward
Verbal backspace then, I would be ok with it if not for the stuff I mentioned.

Wow this could actually be pretty good, it means they must have put more effort to create a balanced 150 for the first run through.

Pokemon remains one of Nintendo's most popular franchises, so I have no idea what you're talking about when you say it's "going out of style".

You use the same tired old arguments all nolstalgia blinded former so called "fans" use to declare the franchise ruined.

Oh too many pokemon? Last I remember, you can only carry a party of six. Six. Always have, always will. These complaints all seem to originate from that idiotic notion of "catching them all" that degrades the true concept of adventure and teamwork that the series has pushed for.

That you imply that all those who enjoy the later generations are foolhardy children is rather insulting. There exist devoted fans who have been with the series since its beginning and have remained with it, appreciating the changes that have improved, yes improved, upon the basic formula.

You complain about the pokemon design being so radically poorer than that of the first generation. Pokemon aren't getting worse. They are as inspired as they always have been constantly drawing from even the most obscure sources to create new ideas. So what if your personal design philosophy disagrees.

Oh, and this?

well this is hardly a huge leap, i mean asides from tentacool and magikarp, there were hardly any old pokemon at the start of the earlier games too!
