I'm basically the idiot of the engineering department up at my college, and my senior design advisor isn't afraid to let me know about it.

I consider myself rather intelligent, but an under achiever in school. I have heaps of knowledge about completely random things, byt when it comes down to stuff i actually need to know, i only know the basics.

Probably about average, maybe below. People tell me they think I'm very intelligent all the time, but I don't really see it.

I don't know how one measures average so I can't answer this. Not to mention that intelligence is multi-faceted.

I'm more intelligent than the vast majority of people that I know by far, but that intelligence also lets me see that I am in no way a genius. Until I have some of the smartest minds my age to compare myself to, and an accurate way to compare, I will have no idea how intelligent I am.

Slightly above average. I sometimes tend to think I'm smarter than everyone else... when I'm really not.

I'll just leave this here.

Oh, but surely this is not the case here? I mean, we were all child geniouses and are as of now extremely high functioning humans.

"This means that the lower the IQ of an individual, the less capable they are of appreciating and accurately appraising others' IQ. Therefore individuals with a lower IQ are more likely to rate themselves as having a higher IQ than those around them."

People here need to read this. It'd be nice if they could rethink their answers, too.

OP: Personally, I put other, because, as others already have stated, it's kind of hard to define intelligence, or what kind of intelligence youre looking for. But if were talking IQ, I'd say Im about average or below. I did the highest level math in senior high, but it takes me a lot of time, notes, sketches and some discussion with either the teacher or another student to just get an answer, if not the right one. Also, my grades werent amazing either, just average.
Thanks for expressing the entire point I was aiming to show by creating this topic for me. I noticed that many, many times when I read posts on the escapist people talk about their superiority in intellect to all the people around them constantly. So I decided to make a topic to illustrate to people exactly what they're doing constantly.
I'm kind of curious as to what countries these people come from, based on some of the responses given (you know, to see if people from specific countries put a higher value on IQ results, whether people from certain countries are more likely to be arrogant about their intelligence, etc).

I R EPIC INTLEEIJUNCE!

I consider myself intelligent enough. My recorded IQ is 132, but then as they say, does that ever really give any idea of intelligence.

From an educationsl standpoint I'm above average simply because I made it to 3rd year university and failed. I tend to get 70-90% in my courses. From a reality standpoint I'm strong with organization and problem solving ideas and math.

For the poll I classed myself as slightly below average. The reason is simply because I retain so little of what I learn and my intelligence in terms of life skills intelligence are way below average. I can't repair anything, fix a running toilet, change oil on a car, understand assembly instructions etc.

Because I can't apply my scholarly or worldly wisdom to anything practical and everyday, I fall under below average intelligence bordering on stupid.

I'm "other". In that on occasion I'll do something that requires some amount of intelligence and perception, like writing a damn good paper. Most days I'm either average or slightly below average. And on occasion I have days like today, where I thought that the best way to go about rearranging glasses on a tray was to use both hands to move glasses around on the tray while I was standing in the middle of an aisle. I guess at the time I had some sort of vain hope that gravity would just ignore that little stunt for a few seconds.

You are encouraged to facepalm at that last bit. Lord knows I did. Hard. Several times.

First and foremost, I recognize the bias that one may have regarding one's own (illusory) superiority, as it is something everyone falls prey to at one time or another. Right. That outta the way?
I grew up in aa place filled with people who were terrified of being called 'nerds', and people who didn't give two shits about educating themselves and had no interest in school. I, on the other hand, have always been curious, eager to learn and bookish. Even so, I never scored the best grades, or at least not most of the time, but kept doing alright, somewhere around average and above-average. Except in maths and P.E.. Maybe it's 'cause I was lazy, or because I can (often) be genuinely very dense, stupid and unable to 'get' stuff. However, I was also the kid who wasn't afraid to go around and display my knowledge - I picked up a lot of informaation that was either useless in clases or forgotten on tests - and as such grew to be known locally as kind of a smart guy, even called "a living fucking dictionary". So naturally, I embraced that as I've grown up being told being smar iss good. However, in later education, I've come to meet more advanced peers, and realize I may at best be sliiightly above average, or even slightly below - but I still did get into a god university and a good course - even with my being dense and often borderline retarded.

TL;DR: Fucked if I know - somewhere between slightly under average?

slightly above average, there are some people who look at me like i'm a god when i get plowing through some science/maths type stuff, or on random trivia knowledge, but when it comes to doing actual tests i'm not that good, in that most of my friends who i help (kinda tutor, more just help)usually get 5-10% higher than me on the tests, which i used to rage hard about but i've come to terms with it mostly.

honestly there are so many ways to define intelligence i stopped caring a long time ago, my old roommate was a perfect example of this, he was as dumb as a brick in class, didn't excel in any of those categories, but when it came to sports/hunting/cars/street smart stuff, he would destroy just about every single person in those categories, it was absolutely astounding some of the stuff he did with as little supplies that he had to do it with.

hell he fixed his own car after his brother ran it into a pole..when he was done, you could barely tell it had been in any kind of scuffle at all, and he didn't have any mechanics tools or anything.

so yeah, we can sit here and flop e-penis's around all day by who got what on what score/test, but it won't actually matter/do anything.

Honor Role all of high school, Dean's list Most of College. So I have a fairly strong intellect. On the other side though I'm often the last to finish a test, so my mind doesn't work quickly. Intelligence isn't a simple thing really, but I feel on a better side at the very least.
