Poll: How intelligent do you consider yourself

I don't know. I live in a very small town and I'm just naturally awesome at filling in the right bubbles on tests. I'm smart enough to know that just because I'm the biggest fish in the pond doesn't mean I'm all that impressive in the open ocean. I'm used to being treated at the "fucking holy shit intelligent" though.

I was IQ tested, with a battery of really boring tests, as part of a lawsuit against the school district. It came up with me being a genius. I don't feel much smarter than other people though, just less dumb.

Alright maybe a bit too harsh, but either a lot of you are lying or most of you don't know how intelligent you really are.

Statistically, it's impossible for the vast majority to be kinda intelligent otherwise the average would be much different. On top of that, this is a (mostly) gaming forum. Let's face it, gamers on the whole are not the brightest group of people in the world. Otherwise they would be accomplishing more real world things and less fantasy fluff.

I chose the more modest Slightly Above Average. It's what I expected to be the most popular answer if this poll were based in reality.

I graduated in the top 5% of my state and am now studying Nanotechnology at University, so I like to believe I am quite intelligent.

I think I'm above average regarding intelligence, but only when it comes to things that have little to no practical application in the real world.

I guess you could say my intelligence is 18, but my wisdom is 8. Go figure.

I did well on tests and such, I've got a degree, and I know an enormous amount of trivia, but I try not to confuse that with intelligence.

I still hate those fox-duck-worm puzzles.

Oh, that one's easy. Take the duck across the river, since the fox won't eat the worm. go back and get the fox, bring it over, take the duck back with you, take the worm over to the side with the fox, go back and get the duck. Simples.

Between -ehh kinda intelligent and fucking holy shit intelligent - because I don't think I've been tested enough to be considered fucking holy shit intelligent. But I did pick the 'fucking holy shit' option because 'ehh kinda' can mean I'm not that intelligent.

I don't like calling myself intelligent though, ok it's different on computer give me a break lol, but I usually just say clever so it doesn't sound like I'm up myself.

I'm fairly intelligent. I can memorize things quicker than most people and can put things together in my head and solve problems quicker than most of my peers. I took the highest writing class at the local community college at 16 and passed with an A. I do pretty good academically, getting A's in every subject (except math, I'm rubbish at math.) I also impress people with having a rich vocabulary, often knowing Latin and Greek roots of different words. I would say I'm pretty intelligent and definitely clever.

I can't give an overall answer. I can, however, decompose intelligence into three key elements (prioritized, in order), and comment on my abilities:

1. Processing: Above average.
2. Perception: Way above average.
3. Memory: I have good long-term memory, but average short-term memory.

I don't include knowledge or education in this. I have a degree (geology), but I don't think simply having that is any indication of how intelligent I am. Anyone can acquire knowledge they're interested in. What one does with that knowledge determines how intelligent one is.

I tend to think of myself as above average, but everyone I've known tells me I underestimate my intelligence by a lot, which may be true as I have a tendency to do so on a lot of things. I just don't think I'm all that special and generally feel that if I'm considered exceptional, maybe humanity should strive for a better average...
