I can't tell what that voice is saying. Could someone tell me?
I think it's "Thank you for assuming the party position."

Or something along those lines. The 'Party position' when you 'escaped' the fire?
I think it says "Thank you for assuming the party submissive position" and then drags you off.

Also, I was really looking forward to running around city 17 or anywhere outside, with the portal gun.
That doesn't look like what Valve have planned though.
I've played this one mod that's supposed to be a fan-sequel to Portal; it takes place outdoors, and the framerate was so poor it was completely unplayable, because it had to try to render the entire wide-open environment through both portals plus the regular view. Unless Valve makes some serious efficiency improvements to their engine, this sort of thing isn't going to be doable.

yo a new update came out today! says "Added valuable asset retrieval" what does that mean?
Thats the update that added this new ending. Presumably Chell (the player character) is the "valuable asset" and the robot the retrieval system.

Portal Has a New Ending

A second update to the three-year-old Portal has changed the ending to the game, throwing fuel on the fire of sequel rumors everywhere.

There was a second update to Valve's beloved Portal earlier today, after the update on Monday that spawned the feverish ARG [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/98776-Crazy-Valve-ARG-Teases-Portal-2-Update] that seemed to be hinting at a new Portal game - or something like that, anyway.

This update does very little other than changing the very end of the game. I'm not going to spoil it, but let's just say that it makes rumors about an unveiling of Portal 2 at next week's GDC seem significantly more likely.

This is all bullshit, why can't they just bite the bullet and gives us Half-Life 2: Episode Three?
They're wasting all this time on freaking sideprojects and as much as I loved Left 4 Dead 1 and 2, portal and Team Fortress... I really just wish they'd focus on releasing Episode 3...

I think Chell is being dragged back to the facility.

If anyone remembers

Before she goes into a chamber she is asked to go into the party position, which was basically the foetal position to be picked up by the scientists

So maybe she has to go through further testing?

So why would it be holding hands with a Vortigaunt?
Pretty sure it's another bot, check out the other link I edited into my post :p
No, I've seen it, and the one on the right looks like a Vort xD

Of course, if the 'Combine take over the Center and use it to train Combine Assassins' theory is right... well, Combine do have Vortigaunt slaves, it's entirely possible that it's a weird reference to that.

And a note on the Party Escort Submission Position: That IS what is said in the ending, and the position itself is 'lying on your stomach with your arms at your sides'.

Maybe a Vortbot? Or a new style of armor for Vort slaves? Doesn't look much like the Vort slaves [http://wiki.blackmesasource.com/images/2/27/Vort_ep2_slave.jpg] that have been in the games so far.

I'm sticking with some variation of the other type of bot for now, I don't think they're going to cross the Portal and Half Life yet if ever.

I dont trust that video, why is there a health meter at the botom?
The person who recorded that toggled it on in the console? Or they used cheats to get to the end faster because they're lazy? It's legit go play it really quick if you don't believe it.

(Or check the update news even)

Damn it Valve, now you've gone and got me all excited.

Although knowing Valve, they'll do this all this viral marketing to announce that "Woops...sorry, we have to delay by a month"

You're not the only one. [http://forum.deviantart.com/community/complaints/1431131/]

Granted, mine didn't even open the delay can of worms, but it's no more hopeful than yours.

About time if you ask me, Although it is a Valve game so we probably won't be put in the springy boots of Chell again anytime soon. Complaining aside i'm really excided to see what Valve has up there sleeves for Portal 2.

That was one of the best two and a half hours of my life, but I have already my heart broken once, so I await further news through a thick emotional wall.

The guy used cheats to get to the ending quicker. Using the all weapons cheat gives you the HEV suit, along with the RPG, so you can just blast GLADoS (or use alt fire on the gravity gun on her, that works, too.) I lost all my saves in a drive swipe so I had to use gad an noclip to get to the end quick, but it's legit.

This does reinforce the posability that their will be a sequel, as well as the possability that the main character did survive and was recouperated to take on an unknown second test, or it might be adding another layer of creepyness to have a robot specifically designed to drag dead bodies....places.

You don't need to get the new achievement to see this ending. I just played through from test chamber 19 to the end five minutes ago. It will work regardless.

Having just completed it with the transmission achievement, I can confirm that the ending is genuine, although I myself did not have Half Life 2 HUD appear. This is too good! Best way I've ever heard of drumming up anticipation of a new game; by actually editing an older one.

Jesus, just try making the 360 players rage.
The console players can eat shit. They get so much special treatment for every other game out there (not to mention not having to deal with this DRM bullshit). It's good to see Valve keeps true to their roots and does something that makes it worthwhile to still be a PC gamer.
