Aw, I think it would have been awesome to get another character in the Half-Life universe. Now that looks much less likely.
That is an interesting thought, though I doubt Alyx would be inclined to give Dog a voice. He is like R2D2, doesn't speak with human speech but you still understand him. I more have bets that if Ep3 and Portal2 tie-in, then that robot would be getting its chips smashed in by Dog.Kwil said:Bets that the robot hauling you away is Dog?
Chelle has nice spheres....cones....Dr. Paine said:Yeah, but I mean an honest to god, hearts all over Companion Sphere xD (Although it better not be like the advanced map <_<) I was kinda lost on objects.
Companion Cone, that better?
How could it even be Dog? The timeline wouldn't match up at all- if by some twist of fate, Eli, Alyx and Dog ended up in Cleveland at the time, Dog would A) not know what the submission position was, B) not be large enough to drag Chell back (I always assumed Alyx really started modifying Dog in her early teens, she'd still be young when Portal took place), and C)... not talk.samsonguy920 said:That is an interesting thought, though I doubt Alyx would be inclined to give Dog a voice. I am on the fence on whether Chelle is an android. Just because GlaDOS said so, doesn't make it true. Any Portal player knows how honest she is. [/random thought]
... for some reason that made me think of a little tidbit of information I found out today. First thing Valve tested their jiggle physics on was apparently Chell's hair.samsonguy920 said:Chelle has nice spheres....cones....Dr. Paine said:Yeah, but I mean an honest to god, hearts all over Companion Sphere xD (Although it better not be like the advanced map <_<) I was kinda lost on objects.

Wait, what were we talking about?
Why no, I don't know the name of the song, please enlighten me.ark123 said:Retcon?ColdStorage said:Yep thats it, which ties in with the new achievement of "party position".SamuelT said:I think it's "Thank you for assuming the party position."LilGherkin said:I can't tell what that voice is saying. Or something along those lines. The 'Party position' when you 'escaped' the fire?
So Portal just got retconned.
You know the song at the end of the game? You know what it's called?
It is true. There is a lot of precedent for valve making bad games with bad sequels and bad expansions.SextusMaximus said:I don't want there to be a second Portal.
People focus on bad things and if Portal 2 turns out bad, then Portal will be known as the prequel to a bad game.
On the other hand, Portal 2 could be even more triumphant than Portal and knock everyone's socks off.
Looks that way...Wonder whats going on...[Cold-Shoulder said:]I prefere the origional ending but is it possible they changed the ending to begin a new story?
GlaDOS's state of mind being what it is(IS!), I can see her calling a vortigaunt* an android just to sound superior for whatever situation. Her rant in the final sequence got me thinking the possibility that Chelle might actually be the last of a sequence of human clones used for final portal gun testing. When things went kaka, GlaDOS still had a living Chelle clone to have fun with, tucked away safe in a restraint comfort system chair doohickey. Makes one wonder how many clones GlaDOS went through before current Chelle. If that is the case.Dr. Paine said:How could it even be Dog? And GLaDOS never directly called you an android- the response in Chamber 16 sounded like a pre-set thing. My money's on the thing being a prototype/failed version of the military android, turned party associate. Seeing Dog beat the crap out of it would be interesting.
Jiggly hair was conquered a long time ago. I can think of lots of things to conquer jiggle physics on.Dr. Paine said:... for some reason that made me think of a little tidbit of information I found out today. First thing Valve tested their jiggle physics on was apparently Chell's hair.
Useless facts. Bah.
I can agree with nearly all of that- only my theory replaces 'clones' with 'pulled employees'. (I've long said that the test subjects were low-ranking/part timers who were originally pulled to test the heel springs... some were just held over and put into hibernation to test the Device. Makes sense when you think about it, use the people who can't be killed by falling to test the thing that involves a ton of falling.) The brain backup thing was most likely just an attempt at a mind screw.samsonguy920 said:=

*:Which might have actually been a test subject for Aperture, which means they either managed to visit Xen themselves, or some sort of complicity between Black Mesa and them happened.
true, they just take their sweet ass time doing it although personally I didn't like Half-Life 2 and I find the L4D games decent, TF2 and Portal are sweeeeetMortagog said:What the fuck's up with everyone becoming ultra-jaded and prophesising that Portal 2 will be a bad sequel? This is Valve for crying out loud; they've never released a game that is anything short of utterly outstanding.

Word on that first sentence. They're probably the worst in the industry when it comes to that. But as we said, they always deliver, so we can't really hate them for it...Stylish_Robot said:true, they just take their sweet ass time doing it although personally I didn't like Half-Life 2 and I find the L4D games decent, TF2 and Portal are sweeeeet
