The PC won't die off, because Kinect brings us VR to a very exaggerated extent , but the PC (as proved with MMO's) can bring us cyberspace... which if mixed together could be pretty awesome, think about it, if they brought out a Kinect 2.0 for the PC that gave control over the fingers and had sensors for every single part of the human body (could make certain Jap games pretty interesting) then we would be able to run along through the fields of Middle Earth from our bedrooms, of course some goggles would be necessary so that immersion can come into it

Also with Onlive out in the US soon (or out now in Beta or whatever) and coming to the UK before 2011 (cannot wait!) then even a £130 laptop could run any game at top specs, although that would ruin my custom PC that I built the other month and make my Macbook acutally worth more than Facebook+Spotify+JustinTV

Extra lil bit I just thought of: Also people say the PC gaming is too expensive, well it is if you wanna play full specs and the such ... my PC is a high-end gaming rig that I built for little over £500 (already had a couple of the parts from friends who didn't need theirs) so just going to somewhere like www.aria.co.uk could get you a mid end PC for like £300 tops... mere peanuts!

Lets see here, out of my 200ish games, about 60 are a mix between DS, GBA, PSP, PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Gamecube, Wii, and N64. The rest are on PC. Yep, I really think PC gaming is dying...

The major problem is that few people are making PC exclusives anymore. As a developer, with consoles you don't have to worry about graphic settings, don't have to worry about giving total freedom to remap the controls, dedicated servers, or anything like that. Outside of RTSs, there is really no game that can't be done on the consoles anymore.

Why is it that there are never any proper answers in the questions of the day.
It is not dead. But it does not reign supreme. All gaming is equal.
I never understood that. It would have been better if there was a third choice saying that PC gaming and console gaming is on equal ground. I'm a console gamer myself, but I'd game on the PC as well in a heartbeat. Well, if I had the proper equipment.

Normally I'd say no, but last Saturday when I was at Gamestop there was only 1 side of a chest-high shelf that contained PC games. And most of those were also on consoles. So I'm not really sure anymore.
This concerned me too. But then I went in to GameStop a few weeks ago, and the PC gaming section had been moved back onto the wall! I did a little happy dance.

PC gaming shall never die.

Oh come on, at least google the phrase before posting if you're unsure!
You stay up all night as a single parent and try to get Lovecraft right! I just wanted a nap :(
Well, now you see why you're supposed to sacrifice your firstborn to the Elder Gods!

*exasperated sigh*
I'm sleepy :( I forgot the rites.

I don't think so. Comparatively, it's much better playing on PC than consoles, for me at least. I enjoy Left 4 Dead and Oblivion more on PC than on Xbox. I switched in the last six months and it is far better.
But console controls are annoying for FPS games! Mouse+Keyboard is more precise in my opinion.

I think in a few years, pc gaming might be dead/dying, but at the moment it's not. I think it's a little weaker than it was, but as consoles evolve and become more similar to pcs (although I don't think they'll turn into pcs in all but name), they'll destroy pc gaming.
No they won't.

For one main reason - PC gamers are stubborn and elitist by birth, if consoles try to take over, we'll just storm the manufacturer's headquarters and beat them in the head with a golf club.

I think PC gaming will never die as long as there are PCs. Simply put if people have computers there are going to be people who are going to want to game on them, and there is going to be a market there that someone is going to tap.

I wouldn't say "PC Gaming Reigns Supreme" (though that is what I picked), but I don't think it will ever "go the way of the dinosaurs" unless PCs themselves do, replaced by some kind of as of yet unknown technology (networked computers installed in all our brains allowing people to be in cyberspace even as they ware walking around normally or whatever... with such a technology the games would move there).

PC gaming will not die, but it is in danger of stagnating. As bigger companies (Epic, as an example) seemingly turn their backs on PC gaming, it's upto the lesser known companies and indie developers to make the next revolution in gaming happen. Out of the games I've bought and played this year, I enjoy the ones from relatively unknown companies such as Radon Labs, Larian Studios and Katauri Interactive much more than I do ones from big hitters like EA BioWare or 2K Marin.

What I think is happening is that the bigger companies turn their back on PC gaming or seemingly shaft us for no real reason. They often claim piracy, but we all know it's a load of rubbish. I think, ironically, Microsoft are the ones who cause the most damage - We've had a few of the first games in a series but none of the sequels. We had Halo 1+2, why no Halo 3 or ODST? We've had Fable: TLC and are getting Fable 3, why no Fable 2? We have GoW, why no GoW 2+3?

I think PC gaming might be having a "low period" at the moment because console prices are dropping, and as such it's a cheaper route into it. You would generally have a TV regardless of your gaming "sexuality", so an Xbox 360 is only really a £200 addition whereas a PC that is capable could cost £500 easily, and even then there's no guarantee your game will work.

I've used both consoles and PCs for gaming, and it's my belief that console gaming is currently successful because it's a simple solution that can cost less than the PC option. You get the console, connect it to the TV, put the disc in and off you go. PC gaming is not like that and as such I feel that consoles "win" because they're just much easier.

if Microsoft wants to do jack shit about PC gaming, they better the fuck reboot Ensemble. and Epic hasnt done a thing for the PC community but re-release Gears of War 1 for PC. they shouldnt even try to make friends with the PC community as they havent released a good PC game since UT3.

Poll option fail...

No, it's not going away, PC gaming will be going strong for quite some time, but it won't reign supreme anymore.
