Freemium content. You know, games where you have to pay real money to unlock certain items/weapons. Now, if the devs are smart, they won't be unbalancing. But even if they ARE smart, often times they'll be such *anyways*, because nobody can catch everything. So what often happens is some of the premium content winds up being a ludicrous advantage, making it pay to win.
It sucks for those of us who either can't pay, or are insulted by the thought of the highest bidder being the winner.
I personally have two rules for these situations (when I'm the higher level character, obviously... otherwise, I don't get to make the rules). Firstly, if I'm somewhere they belong and I don't (as in, if I'm exploring their level 15 area at max level) they get a pass, whereas they won't be so lucky if they're somewhere they don't belong. Secondly? I never, ever, ever kill somebody more than twice unless they ask for it.Kargathia said:Highly subjective, that. ... I still parked my rogue with the express purpose of getting revenge on any lvl ?? ganking my alt whenever I was in STV, but that's another story.
On Topic: personally I always disliked the gigantic difficulty curve involved in CS:S. In order to start enjoying the game one has to resign himself to being a punch bag for the first two months.

Winning? Here, take those toys! You clearly need them!
Losing? Shut up and take it while the big boys are having fun, noob... Here's a speed boost so you get killed more quickly. Stop wasting our time!
Wasteland. Pavelow. That is all.
The way to be good at the game at that point is quite literally not to play it. Hide in a house in the corner of the map for two minutes doing jack shit, and that way you don't feed the enemy any kills to unlock further killstreaks. Sound like fun?
Tell me how does unlocking all the weapons gives the player a better chance of killing you? They don't buy skill and they still have to unlock all the scopes for every single weapon. You most likely have unlocked all weapon by now and you know more about the maps you play and combos for weapon that are good.Ix Rebound said:just to add to thisexp. 99 said:Host advantage is one thing, admittedly. Cue entire team diving into the central bunker and running right into claymores, respawning outside and being butchered by the Harrier.
I'm not saying it make they have a better chance of killing you. I saying that the person who took the time to actually unlock the weapons or abilities, wouldn't have had to if they had just taken the easy way and payed for them. and the stuff you unlock is usually always better than the starer gear.Zukabazuka said:Tell me how does unlocking all the weapons gives the player a better chance of killing you? The dude who unlock them are still gonna have to get used to the weapons and actually aim with them. NO weapon give autoaim. This argument is soo silly to complain about, this is for the EA one the other is a bigger problem. Those buying the pack are actually the loser at this point because it doesn't take much time to unlock all of them.

If you're on the side that spawns on the carrier then prepare to have a whale of time trying to even make it to the docks as you're being sniped by soldiers, a tank or two and there's an enemy helicopter spawncamping and blowing up your helicopters. What do you do if your helicopters get destroyed?
....You take a boat. A little shitty thing that's just begging for a tank to blow it out of the water provided one of the snipers don't headshot your as you're driving it.
Very unbalanced map is basically what I'm getting at.
You neglected to mention the final nail in Dark Souls' PVP, the lagstabs. The Wykydtron said:So just a little topic, ever had any insanely unfair games/sessions/team compositions etc etc over the course of your gaming career?
For me it's got to be the Invasion system in Dark Souls 60% of the time. Basically you use an item and you enter a random person's game world and try to murder the fuck out of him for lolz. You only invade upwards level-wise though so you're always supposed to be roundabout the same level as the guy you're invading
People start to abuse the leveling system by not leveling at all and getting end-game equipment (through glitches, getting gifted it or just beating the bosses) to absolutely destroy the newer players they just get matched with. Basically after just about failing a legit Invasion of mine (at level 6 with base eqiupment, naturally) I was then set upon by this guy with the most obcene set of end-game equipment i have ever seen.
Waved at him then quit to dashboard. Not losing my Humanity over such bullshit, and to be honest killing some random noob and taking their probably only Humanity, gains you fuck all and you've just ruined some guy's day...
Another problem comes in from people summoning other people to help fight you off, that on its own is fine, the host has to do whatever it takes to live because you're just waltzing into his game session and trying to ruin potentially hours of progress. But when are actually people summoning guys in advance to wait for your supposedly "random" invade and then ambushing you it starts to seem a bit broken.
Oh, and the Red Soapstone is a joke, never use it. It's meant to be a fair fight where you put your summons down, the guy takes you up on the challenge and you fight to the death. Instead he summons a fuckton of guys, summons you and they all just spawn kill you.
This would work if you know the areas well, but for a new player, getting through some areas (Tomb of Giants, I'm looking at you) is quite a challenge.Daystar Clarion said:Yeah, those guys suck.
Best tip I have is to simply stay hollowed and only return to human form for boss battles until you're a higher level.
I think the problem with killstreaks in CoD is that they're giving a team (or player) that's already doing well an added advantage that they obviously don't need and only serves to further fuck up the balance of the game. The fact that they're counterable is sort of besides the point, in my mind at least.Anthony Wells said:i love everyone complaining about the killstreaks in modernwarfare 2 when coldblooded pro easily renders them all useless against you. and with a stinger most fall instantly afterwards
