I've always been on board with the Ashi/Jack ship, but with only two episodes left, I do question the need to spend an entire episode on it. They're adorable together, but it felt even more rushed than her redemption. Then again, part of the problem can be tacked down to the amount of time that has passed during and in between episodes - it's hard to properly convey.
As great as this revival has been, I do worry that it won't be able to end things satisfactorily.
Don't take my word as gosple but the final episode mabye an 1 hour and 30 min finale, but I just remember reading that from a person's comment on a forum so I did not check his sources, but still that was my problem with this revival, is SO FUCKING SHORT!!! And the worse part about it is is that these plots as is are not bad, they just need more development, I knew the limited to 10 episodes was a mistake
I think we can call it they become lovers. I mean the sisters see a doe and buck basically deer kissing. And anyone remember that Jack can only travel back to the past when he becomes the green mist Samurai? And what does the green mist Samurai have? Why yes, buck antlers.
So the symbolism is pretty clear.

Apparently I'm in the minority in that I wasn't as fond of this episode.
Now, on the one hand I'm not opposed to Jack and Ashi getting together. Point of fact, I actually empathize with what I perceive to be the narrative reasons behind it. Among other things, it adds conflict to Jack's inevitable final decision. Stay in the future (with Ashi) or go back to the past (presumably without her). The "golden" option, of course is bringing her back to the past with him to see the beauty of the world as it existed.
It's not the result that bugs me so much as how the episode went about it with all the nervous "oh, I'm sorry I didn't mean to touch you, and it's awkward because I'm attracted to you" moments. It feels out of place, especially when these two hardened warriors are being distracted by those awkward moments in the middle of combat.
I don't know. It just felt like the wrong way to develop this particular relationship.

That's pretty much my feelings on the episode as well. I'm not... against it, but they really could've handled everything a lot better. Everything just felt so out of character and rushed, which really jarred with the tone the rest of the season had set.
Also, there's only like, 2 episodes left, wasting an entire episode on 'awkward out-of-character attraction' just seemed so wasteful. Could've really spread that out over the 3 episodes for a more natural development rather than just front-load it like that and annoy everyone who wasn't rooting for the Jack/Ashi ship.
Oh well. On the bright side, there is a hell of a flame war going down on Tumblr about everything right now, and I've got an extra big bag of marshmellows for the occasion.
Maybe it's because I don't go to tumblr ever, but why...? Why is this reaction a thing that exists? "How dare this show remind me that heterosexual relationships exist!" I mean what were they hoping for? Jack and the Scotsman hooking up? The Scotsman is married. And dead now. Ashi and... anyone? Literally the only person she knows is Jack. I just cannot see how these people could have seen a non-hetero relationship being possible here.

Maybe they were hoping for hot scissoring action between Ashi and One(or multiple) of Scotsman's daughters? *shrug*
TBF this might be the usual crazy fringe of tumblr, while the rest will just return to drawing(now slightly altered) porn.
I don't care much about ships. My reaction to that scene in, uh, a 'bus' was "Oh, so they're taking it that way. OK". Though the very ending, and that they decided to squeeze Dean Martin in there, cracked me up. And some of the more salty responses made it even better. I'd be still okay with keeping the mentor/teacher dynamic, though.
PS.

.....I am dissapointed at the lack of a sex scene :(

Bah most of Rule 34 is full of decadent filth and almost never have a normal, beautiful image of a man and woman doing it.
Most male character art depicts them as gay to appeal to women and gay men, Bis, and most female art is lesbian to appeal to men and lesbian women and Bis. I mean to use One Piece there is barely any Luffy on Nami in that place, and a tame romantic one even less so.
Its a rarity to see anything like this in Rule 34:
[img]http://68.media.tumblr.com/50d4063fd14017a68959e0248115a7be/tumblr_oow4tvLhID1u7z4p4o1_1280.jpg
I was a little disappointed they went for the romantic angle... but it won't kill me. (And people actually complained? Geez, priorities much?) Overall, I wasn't really feeling this episode, hopefully the next one will be better.

Thus far the final season of Samurai Jack has been completely and utterly amazing. Great storylines, great characters, great call backs, great action and a get blend of its new darker tone and its old lighter tone. Every single episode has been better then the last and every week I've been anxious to see how they top themselves... and then the new episode reared its ugly head... I'm gonna be frank here that wasn't just the worst episode of the season, that was easily the worst episode of Samurai Jack ever. Let's start with the obvious reason: it is now confirmed that Jack and Ashi are lovers and when that became clear I knew I was in for a praticularly bad episode. My problem is that Jack doesn't need a love interest, he never did. It's clear that this is going to be a rushed, boring romantic sub plot that exists only because "Duuur she's a woman and he's a man so they must get together, duuuuur!" Yeah heaven forbid two people of the opposite sex don't simply end up as friends. It was always clear that a master/student or even father/daughter relationship would have worked fine, hell the latter would have been perfect since, you know, Ashi had a terrible mother so a positive parental figure is something she truly needs. Not to mention Jack is 75 and Ashi can't be older then 18 so yeah... that's kinda icky. You know I probably wouldn't mind this heteronormative bullshit if there was another season that followed or even if this was a 13 episode season. At least then there would have been time to develop this nonsense. But no, there are only two episodes left before Samurai Jack is gone forever and they waste what precious little time they have left on an episode that not only was pointless and had no purpose but to rapidly develop a relationship no one wanted or asked for in the first place! Oh, also Ashi, who was always smart and capable who decimated an entire fucking army in the last episode with her own two hands, was reduced to an incompetent idiot in this episode... OH! And a sex object because that's what we fucking want! A strong female character being stark naked, fucking classy! God I hated this fucking episode!

Yeaaah, especially for a show that previously portrayed its protagonist as so mission-oriented that he didn't even stick around long enough to see the effects of his actions (which was a big part of the episode before last, where he didn't even know all the good he did because he was too busy moving forward)
seeing him blush and fluster over Designated Final Act Love Interest (a quarter of his age) fellows a little hollow
The examples are hilarious, we have people treating heterosexual relationship like they imagine how gay relationships are treated (I know it's probably a minority but still ironic). Especially funny the people getting angry over the nudity, did they also complain when 3/4 of the series Jack was in only his underwear?
Ah jeez, even here? Within 5 years these people will be protesting outside maternity wards for babies born using sperm + egg reproduction, because its just too hetero-normative. Where are all the babies born using just eggs?! Why do we shoehorn men into everything?!
